Avatar f tn Another reason for ovarian pain are cysts. So either you're ovulated from both ovaries or you may have some tiny benign cysts. I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Basically I have tiny cysts on my ovaries and I would feel crampy and feel ovarian pain, especially around ovulation time, but I wasn't ovulating. I am currently taking medication for it and I don't feel ovarian pain/discomfort anymore.
Avatar n tn Does birth control help with the pain from ovarian cysts? Does using birth control help ressolve the existing cysts? How long does it take for birth control to show progress in pain and resolution of ovarian cysts? I started using the nuva ring almost two weeks ago. I thought the pain was gone (as it had disappeared for over a week) then all of a sudden this weekend the pain returned with the same intensity. Does this mean the cysts are growing? I am growing extremely frustrated with the pain.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Ovulation is the commonest cause of lower abdominal pain. Few other causes of lower abdominal pain are PIDs,ovarian cysts, fibroids, STIs, RTIs etc.You need to be evaluated for above mentioned conditions. Consult your gynecologist. A clinical examination and tests like pelvic scan, hormonal assay may be helpful. Keep me posted with more queries. Hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn ovarian pain on the left side the week before and a few days after my period every month, what is the cause? and how to treat it?
162784 tn?1227296050 Just wondering if you had actually been diagnosed with having ovarian cysts because regular pains during ovulation can be quite normal and can indicate that you did indeed ovulate.
Avatar n tn There are more than one flavor of ovarian cysts and some are more cause for concern than the usual ones that occur due to what I think of as a misfired egg. I've had plenty of those along with hemorrhagic and chocolate cysts from endometriosis. Those tend to not rupture on their own and surgery usually is only considered after the size has been tracked for a few months and it gets so large that it causes more symptoms or interferes with fertility. Ain't it great to be a woman?!
Avatar f tn I know I shouldn’t be on the internet reading about this stuff, but it says menopausal women shouldn’t technically have cysts on their ovaries anymore because there is no ovulation. So that’s why I am worried. I did have a follow-up with my GYN the very following day and she saw the report and told me not to give it a second thought and basically told me “see you next year for your annual”! I guess the fact that she isn’t worries makes me feel better, but my health anxiety has taken over.
Avatar f tn Does it happen on one side one month, and the other side the next month? It's not uncommon to get ovarian cysts with ovulation, especially if you have had sex near ovulation; the ovary can get bruised and a little swollen and then fluid fills the pore that the egg came out of and can't get out easily. And yeeeks, that can indeed hurt. You might talk to your ob-gyn about it.
Avatar f tn Could this be related to ovulation or period cramps? Or perhaps cysts? Having ovarian cysts can cause us to be irregular and have that symptom of dull type of pain. Have you had a physical or better yet, a pelvic exam with a gynecologist any time recently?
Avatar m tn I went off birth control 4 years ago and ever since then I have been developing ovarian cysts. Sometimes i get lower back pain that extends down my buttocks and feels like sciatica . I also get what feels like menstral cramping after intense exercise. During ovulation i also experience uncomfortable cramping. My periods are pretty regular (maybe off by 5 days tops) and they are not heavy, just normal and they last about 4 days.
Avatar n tn A couple of months ago I developed severe pain and discovered I had developed 3 cysts on my right ovary - 4.5 cm, 2.8 cm and 3.3 cm and one 4.0 cm on my left. During my followup ultra sound it is discovered that now - not in addition to, have one functional cyst on my left ovary about 15 mm that depics blood tissue as well and one complex cyst on my right ovary that is 15 mm that is suspicous. The doctor has recommended that the ovary be removed. They did a CA125 and the value was 12.
Avatar m tn 5 cm ovarian cyst, not a dermoid though. Dermoid cysts are benign (non-cancerous). But most other types of ovarian cysts are benign too. The average woman's lifetime risk of ovarian cancer is less than 2%. Like you, I was 49 years old. My gynecologist should have just removed the cyst or the one ovary but he removed everything (hysterectomy and oophorectomy). I have been suffering the many after-effects ever since (8 years). I aged 15 years by 4 months post-op.
Avatar f tn goes into my hip feals like the ovulation pain you get but i have it every day, worse with menstration. i havent been back to a doctor as i have no insurance right now but i am starting to worry about ovarian cancer. no bleeding or anything elese just the pain with some bloating. is it possible that cancer could grow since my last ct? are these normal cys symptoms? i thought cysts only last a few months.
Avatar n tn My doctor used an ultra-sound to check the placement of the IUD and all was fine. However, she discovered that I had multiple cysts. She perscribed pain medications, and sent me on my way. My question is how long are they supposed to last? It is now mid-May and I still get the same severe pain. It shoots down my left leg, (sometimes the right) and across my back. It of course is in my lower abs, and makes me completely useless. It's daily.
Avatar f tn Even a faint 1st line means a positive test result. Ovarian cysts can be triggered by a spike in hormones, usually during ovulation. However, not to scare you, ecoptic pregnancy pains closly resemble ovarian cyst pain in the beginning. Please go see your obgyn to test for pregnancy and tell them about your pain. Good luck!!
Avatar f tn HI. How long has the cyst been there? When cysts are discovered the doctors will normally observe it for up to 3 months to see if it disappears itself, which a lot of cysts can. If it is causing severe pain, not resolving, or if it is suspicious in any way the cyst may be removed or drained. Most ovarian cysts are harmless.
720499 tn?1230845510 ve heard quite the opposite regarding ovulation and ovarian cysts. Many times patients are placed on birth control pills to halt ovulation. Cysts are a normal part of ovulation and no ovulation, no cysts. It's just that sometimes the cyst doesn't disappear as it should. At least that's the treatment for a number of ladies on here . Also, regarding fertility.. you may still conceive with one ovary.. it "takes over" the job of the missing ovary.
Avatar n tn I'm 18 and i've always had quite sharp ovulation pain, but last November i went on the pill for heavy periods and just assumed it would go too. But the pain hasn't completely gone, i just thought it was my body adjusting to it. But last month about a week before my period i got very sharp ovulation pain which didn't make sense at all, but it went about a day after i can off my period. And last Tuesday it's happened again but had gotton worser!
Avatar f tn It’s not painful just annoying & persistent. It feels almost right up on the curve of the pelvic bone on my left side primarily (sometimes the right). No other symptoms or changes. I’m off my period but I think I’m in my fertile (ovulation) window. Could it be ovarian cysts?
Avatar n tn will these resolve by themselves? Are these considered big cysts? I really dread to go through that pain again... Any help or sharing of experience in similar situation will be appriciated.
Avatar f tn It is possible to ovulate with these cysts and majority of unilateral and bilateral ovarian cysts will disappear on their own within a few months .Monitoring the cysts or prescription of painkillers is the only treatment. For more queries and assistance clinical examination and work up may be necessary. Visit a gynecologist. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
