My OBGYN also prescribed Yaz for Ovarian Cysts to help shrink them, prevent them, from forming, or growing. I have cysts on both ovaries. I just started taking the Yaz two weeks ago. My first week I noticed nausea. I still feel the cramps/pain from my cysts, and bloating. So not sure if that is from the cysts or has anything to do with the pill. My Dr is waiting to see if it helps before deciding what to do next.

i have two ovarian cysts one 3cm and the other slightly smaller, i was already on mirena an iud and now put on yaz to for birth control to shrink the cysts but now my breast are swelling really bad, what should i look out for as for complications, is this safe?

My doctor has seen fit to start treating me with Yaz, a diffeent type of bith control than I was already on. He said that I should stay on it until I'm ready to get pregnant, then get off it for a few months then try to conceive. Anyway, that's how I'm being treated. You should check with your doctor about the night shift issue (and double check about any treatment suggested in these forums including here).

Hello Indah I am actually 14 years old and I have been dealing with ovarian cysts since I was 10 years old. There is no real cure for ovarian cysts but waiting it out until they naturally burst which can be very very painful. There are some solutions to it, doctors say for females the cysts occur because of our monthly cycle, its never too late to take birth control which is one of the solutions to cysts but it all depends on the person.

Just out of interest, has anybody been placed on the contraceptive pill for preventing further ovarian cysts? And if so is it effective? Ive been placed on a hig dose pill as a last resort to try prevent further cysts and Im just wondering if this has been the case for anyone else?

They found I had multiple cysts on both ovaries last year, did surgery to remove them due to the size, and now a year later, I have them again like grape clusters on both ovaries again. I went on the Yaz BC after the last time to keep them from coming back. But I guess it didn't work. I am only 34. I don't know what to think? I am waiting for the Dr to decide what to do this time.

It triggered ovarian cysts to grow which caused me to have pain for six months and then surgery with a two week long recovery. Apparently if ANYONE in your family has ever had ovarian cysts you should not go on mirana. Otherwise it was uncomfortable (to say the least) getting it in but a painless ease to get it out. So weigh your options. If you have no family history of cysts then I would say go for it. I have used nuva ring, loved the ease etc.

Last time I saw my ob/gyn, I was told that I had 8 cysts on my right ovary and 4 on my left. She asks if I am in pain and I tell her no. I am only in pain when they rupture. Until then, I cannot tell they are there. She put my on birth control and it just seemed to make them worse. I also miscarried last year at about 5 weeks. Please help me. Should I see a new ob/gyn? Should I get my ovaries removed?

Hi guys, I'm new to this website after reading all your supportive posts about having painful ovarian cysts. I'm 17 and I have been having problems with ovarian cysts since I was 16. Last January, I was 16, and I started feeling severe pelvic pain that wrapped around my back. The pain was so severe I laid on the bathroom floor and cried and cried. My mom then took me to my primary doctor who told me it was only a stomach bug and gave me medicine for the vomitting, and 'stomach bug.

Well, I am now on Yaz BCP to take care of my Cysts in my overies for about 14 days. I would like to go on Clomid/IUI and overdril 2nd try..I am a little scared that I will keep getting the cysts though...It seems to be taking a while for me each time and it is frustrating for me. I know I need to be patient...and calm. Has anyone gone through this? any suggestions?

Hello, new to the board here :) Hopefully, I can get some new insight from everyone. Here's the long version! I am 28 years old, and I've had recurring, painful cysts for about 2 years with a family history of cysts (my aunt literally had a 40 something pound ovarian cyst). I didn't have my first cyst until after an appendectomy. I was quite healthy up until the appendectomy, actually. (In addition to the cysts, I also got pneumonia and various other colds for 4 months straight).

It started when I went on the birth control-nuva ring for ovarian cysts about 5 months ago and recently changed to yaz and have seen no difference. Well, my skin gets hard bumps under the skin which arent pimples and they will form permenant red marks on my face. I also have three spots on my cheeks near my nose that have thickening skin and contu=inuously flake off and turn red and repeat continuously. Nothing seems to help..

i have to have follow up ultrasound in 5 weeks to see if they are taking care of themselves, otherwise my dr is going to put me on bc to shrink them. You need to find out the size of cysts and what type of ovarian cyst it is. That will all make a difference on how they are taken care of.

The doctor believes endometriosis is causing the pain on my right side and back. She put me back on Yaz (birth control). I was on Yaz for several years to control the severe PMS symptoms I was having. I got off PMS last summer when I turned 50 because I wanted to get an accurate reading of my hormone levels which are normal. It seems like once I got of Yaz I started having these problems--complex cyst, pain, etc.

I am 5 years post total hysterectomy - abdominal due to adhesions/cysts/endo, etc. You name it, I had it. My left ovary was enlarged to size of grapefruit, wrapped around my ureter and the artery nearby, then that was all plastered to my left pelvic side wall. He also said that her uterus felt fine, but he wanted her to have an ultrasound to check for ovarian cysts. That is not scheduled for over ten days. I am attempting not to be an anxious mother. Could the doctor, pathologists, etc have missed something in September that is now effecting her ovaries? Or could this be totally unrelated to the cervical issues. She missed a period last month and is on Yaz.

puts me on a month of Yaz when I get these cysts, and they go away in that month. I HATE Yaz, but he says that you need the strong hormones and not all birth controls have that strong of hormones. It has been working on the months when I need it, but it does slow up the process. Having the cyst does impact ovulation and/or follicle production, so it is important to get rid of it. I THOUGHT that since I had two easy pregnancies, I would have no problems, but it has been a year and a half now.

Have you had your antibodies checked? I ask because ovarian cysts, acid reflux, leg cramping, chest pain, eye pain, could also be caused by Hashimoto's antibodies. Hashimoto's causes hypothyroidism, and if you haven't had your TGAb and Anti-TPO blood work, I suggest you get it, along with a thyroid ultrasound. The treatment for Hashimoto's, just like hypothyroidism, is hormone replacement like the brand you're taking, but there are many brands and formulas.

Yaz? Is this the contraceptive pill? It can actually be really good to help reduce cysts but if you are trying to start a family obviously this isn't going to help you. If you only have one cyst usually these do go away and I would consider the contraceptive pill for atleast 3/12 and ask your doctor to send you for another scan to check the progress if the cyst has resolved/shrunk then you could try starting for a family.

I do hope that they come up with something because you should not have to live in pain like this. Do you plan on having more children? Do you get cysts on both ovaries or just on one ovary? Is it possible for you to see a gynecologist/oncologist (not that i think you have cancer) because they have more experience and they deal with issues like this on a daily basis. Best of luck to you. Any birth control pill, well any birth control that has hormones in it can cause blood clots. But they are normally only risk for those who have a family history of clots, or who have suffered from clots before. I've never been on Yaz and the only birth control pills I have ever taken was/is Yasmin. No they are not the same. Yasmin or Ocella is a lower dose of birth conrtol, while Yaz is prescribed more often to those who suffer from PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder).

fast forward to last year when I had to have the IUD taken out because it completely messed me up (it was sliding out, and it moved so much that it constanty poked on my uterus causing severe pain/paralyzing me during my menses) so i was put on YAZ early last year and the NIGHTMARE continued, I have gone from 118Lbs to 153Lbs!!! in a 1 and 1/2yrs and the cellulite/stretch marks is also out of control!!! I can't bring myself to wear a bathing suit!!!

I have to constantly be on a BC pill to keep from having cysts once a month. I was on Lo Lo Estren and it was perfect but insurance wanted a generic so I was given a generic for Yaz. Now I am losing my mind! I am super anxious all the time and suddenly jealous of every woman that my husband works with. I obsess over silly things that I would never worry about before. I am switching back ASAP but I was wondering if anyone else has been through this with Yaz as well.

I do have a question, but I first want to share my story and hopefully give hope to women out there worrying about this condition. On March 4, 2009, I went in to see my Gynecologist for my yearly pap smear and to discuss some pain I was having on what I believed to be my right ovary. The doctor examined me and couldn't find anything, so he ordered an ultrasound. The ultrasound indicated that I had a 8cm Septated Ovarian Cyst.

you will see a lot of information about cysts. They many times, are just part of the cycle and will resolve themselves on their own. I don't know how they could be so sure it was a cyst without another ultrasound. She needs to make another appointment and have another ultrasound if she's in that much pain.Was that a transvaginal ultrasound? The problem with larger cysts is that they can twist or rupture and that is extremely painful..

It's hard to say what's going on here - lower abdominal and back pain aren't really symptoms of very early pregnancy. It will be interesting to hear what your doctor has to say at your appointment - best wishes.
