Common Questions and Answers about Ovarian cysts on pelvic ultrasound

ovarian-cysts

Avatar f tn I only assume I have PCOS because my hormones are out of whack and I have ovarian cysts. My symptoms have been going on for 10+ years and no doctor ever diagnosed me with this condition or even mentioned it. I have been struggling for the last 2+ years with severe health problems and was recently diagnosed with insulin resistance (metabolic syndrome). Make sure your doctor is very informative about this condition. Ask lots of questions.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure what they're saying about the IUD but they are definitely indicating that you have ovarian cysts. The symptoms you're having are indicative and there is information on types of cysts and symptoms on the health pages (top right). I'm so surprised that they would give you the report without an explanation. What has your doctor said?

Avatar n tn After a couple of weeks of antibiotics The pain never went way, he sent me for an ultrasound. everything looked ok on the ultrasound, except a small cyst on my left ovary. He put me on birth control pills but nothing happend i was still having pelvic pain. He sent me to see a colon specialist and a colonoscopy was done and everything looked ok. A laparoscopy was done and he drained several cyst on my left ovary. my laparoscopy was done November 11, 2008.
3100626 tn?1341387176 This pain could be ovarian/cyst related, but if you had a recent pelvic ultrasound that found nothing abnormal, then this is good news. Your ovaries will still be ovulating monthly and some women feel that this is more prominent or bothersome after a hysterectomy. Some lower pelvic pain may also could be related to your bowels or bladder or deep pelvic muscles.
Avatar f tn The mass seen on the recent noncontrast study may correspond to an enlarged left ovary. Further evaluation with pelvic ultrasound, both transabdominal and transvaginal 2. Small amount of free pelvic fluid, Both Ultrasounds: There is a 5.1 x 3.0 x 3.4 cm heterogeneously hypoechoic solid mass in the pelvic to the left of midline. This appears to correspond to the indeterminate mass seen in the same location on the recent CT scans.
10704596 tn?1412127746 PELVIC AND TRANVAGINAL ULTRASOUND : Clinical indeication: 8 months of increasing pelvic pain with menses and irregular menses with dark spotting an history of embolization previously (and myomectomy). Prevoid urinary bladder poorly distended and negative. Uterus anteverted 8.8 x 5.4 x 6.8 cm. Calcified fibroid remains apparent at approximately 1.8 cm.
Avatar n tn Would these "simple" ovarian cysts cause frequent nauseation, pain in the pelvic, hip, and lower back?
Avatar f tn I then pushed for a pelvic ultrasound and just had it done at the lab on Fri. They found a simple cyst on 1 ovary and a septated cyst on the other. I had a C-section 17 months ago and a history of endometriosis. I am 34. I read somewhere something about a c section possibly releasing any secluded endo into the abdomen. Did not have cysts before that I am aware of in the pathology reports - just lesions that were removed by an endo specialist who cut them out.
Avatar f tn Due to my mother passing away from Ovarian cancer I do get pelvic ultrasounds every year. I just had my ultrasound (pelvic, intravaginal) on the 17th of July and my Doctor called this morning to tell me I have two complex cysts on my right ovary with blood flow and 2 simple ones on my left without blood flow. The complex cysts are 2.4cm and 2.1cm. I am 47, and I have a 5 year old daughter and I am beside myself right now.
Avatar m tn That being said, fibroids are common and usually require no intervention. The same for ovarian cysts. However, ovarian cysts usually go away within 3 cycles / months. So another ultrasound in a couple of months or so would be the typical plan. But your doctor should be communicating with you.
1324051 tn?1275414812 If the discomfort continues, then you can opt for other options. When is your repeat ultrasound? Keep in mind that when you have ovarian cysts, they can mess your periods up and cause cramping. You starting birth control back up could also mess with your period.
Avatar f tn After talking with her she sent me to my local hospital for blood work and an ultrasound. Ultrasound reviled cysts on my right ovary and a potential tumor on my left. So I made an appointment with a gyn. All of this was back in early September. At the gyn I've had at least 3 more ultrasounds within three months. Feeling like I wasn't getting anywhere with this gyn frustrated me esp when he says I don't know if this is a new and bigger cysts or the old cysts has gotten bigger.
Avatar f tn suggested you do ? Ovarian Cysts and ovarian cancer can cause many similar symptoms. There is absolutely no way to tell for certain unless and until surgery is performed and the path results come back. Having said that, cysts are very very common and 95% benign. The best course of action is to speak with your physician to see what his recommended course of action is. They may possibly suggest removal, but sometimes, they prefer to wait awhile to see if they resolve themselves.
Avatar f tn I tend to get cysts all the time - ie kidney cysts, ovarian, fibrocystic breasts , cysts on my back. But the mri reported didn't suggest any special follow up to it and I am not sure what to think. I'd love some ideas. My kidneys could be inflamed due to the cysts and stones but don't know if that would affect the pelvic area... Thanks for any ideas.
Avatar f tn i have fluid in my pelvic area cul-de-sac thing AND ovarian cysts (possible polycystic ovarian syndrome) yet i am diagnosed with Pelvic inflamatory disease ... can anyone make scence how they came to that conclusion? my swabs were negative too.
Avatar f tn I went for a ultrasound and they found a complex solid / cystic mass on my left ovary. The next day i was sent for ct scan and they found another one my right ovary. My doctor didn't say anything to me, on what it might be. He has referred me to the Gynae Clinic at the Hospital. I haven't started worrying to much yet as I think I should stress to much until i know if it is ovarian cancer but I would just like to know. It says in the ct scan notes 1. Two pelvic masses.
Avatar f tn I my incision is hard and very lumpy. They ordered a pelvic CT and pelvic ultrasound and vaginal ultrasound. They found two 1 mm cysts on my left ovary. 5 weeks earlier On 11/27 I had my Pet scan and 3 days prior a CT. Both NED. I had a colonoscopy and also NED. They wantedt to wait and see if they changed in two weeks times so I have a new ultrasound scheduled for next week. i have read alot of posts and seem that ovarian cysts are very common and especially after chemo.
Avatar f tn It sounds as though you may be experiencing pain from ovarian cysts or endometriosis. I do experience similar pain and I have a history of both cysts and endo. Have you seen a doctor yet? I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn These are the results my pelvic ultrasound...".....the uterus is nomal in size & shape with one small serosal hypoechoic mass suggesting a uterine fibroid, 1.1 cm by 1 cm by 0.8 cm......endometrial stripe is 2-3 mm.....the ovaries are identified and are normal with the largest left ovarian cyst 1/2 cm in diameter. The right ovary measures 2.8 cm by 2.0 cm by 1.7 cm and left ovary measures 2.5 by 2.4 by 2.3 cm....
Avatar m tn Hello, Dermoid cysts are sac-like growths on the ovaries that can contain hair, fat, and other tissue .Dermoids often cause no symptoms and may present as enlargement of the ovary on a routine pelvic exam. They can twist and cause severe pain. They can also rupture producing peritonitis, or irritation of the abdominal and pelvic cavity. It is best to get them removed.
Avatar f tn Two common types of benign (non-cancerous) cysts that are hypoechoic on ultrasound are endometriomas and hemorrhagic cysts. I hope this helps ease your mind. Best of luck conceiving.
Avatar f tn That u/s showed a minimal amount of free fluid in my pelvic region and a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst, measuring 2.6cm. A few days ago, I started experiencing the same pain. I went to my local ER, where they performed another pelvic ultrasound. The findings were as follows: 1. There are two subendometrial cysts identified within the uterus. They have slightly increased in size since my last u/s done by this hospital in December of 2013. 2.
Avatar n tn MOST ovarian cysts (even complex / suspicious looking ones) are benign and it seems ovarian cysts are more common after hysterectomy due to the histological changes to the ovaries (likely due to loss of blood flow and feedback loop with the uterus). If your gynecologist deems this cyst concerning based on the traits specified on the ultrasound, you will want to see a gynecologic oncologist.
