Avatar f tn If your still on the birth control still and you believe it's made this worse talk to your doctor about coming off the birth control and see whether there's any other birth control that will be better suited
Avatar n tn Does birth control help with the pain from ovarian cysts? Does using birth control help ressolve the existing cysts? How long does it take for birth control to show progress in pain and resolution of ovarian cysts? I started using the nuva ring almost two weeks ago. I thought the pain was gone (as it had disappeared for over a week) then all of a sudden this weekend the pain returned with the same intensity. Does this mean the cysts are growing? I am growing extremely frustrated with the pain.
Avatar f tn Look up ovarian cysts in one of the sites like Mayo Clinic's, that is basically a medical encyclopedia. Birth-control pills shrink some types of ovarian cysts, presumably you have that type or the doctor would not have prescribed them. I am sorry you are impatient, but it will help to get rid of the cysts if you are trying to conceive, even if it means you have to wait a month or two.
Avatar f tn I have never had a problem with cysts in the 29 years I have been alive until I started using and stopped taking birth control. I was only on the birth control for less than 1 year.
Avatar n tn I don't need it as a method of birth control. I just need it to control my cysts the nuva ring doesn't do that though?
Avatar n tn A couple years ago, I had multiple cysts on both of my ovaries. Usually doctors will put you on some type of birth control to make them go away. However, if for any reason the cyst gets enflamed..it will need to be surgically removed. As for conceiving with cysts, my cysts went away with birth control. I guarantee that I probably have cysts again, & it only took me my husband and I 2 months to conceive. Also, I'm 14 weeks; both baby & I are 100% healthy.
Avatar f tn Are yu planning on breastfeeding because some bc isn't supposed to be taken while bf...I plan on using the ortho evra patch it seems convenient because I dont have to remember to take it everyday...
Avatar f tn I got on birth control right at 6 weeks. Three days of it dried up my milk so I had to quit and get my milk supply back up. If u don't plan on breastfeeding then I would go for it.
Avatar n tn Hormonal treatment in the form of birth control pills is the preferred treatment for reducing ovarian cysts. The pills will show there effects within 2 to 3 months. Ovarian drilling is a surgical procedure that can be associated with complications like adhesions. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn It sounds like, your doc is hoping the birth control pills will resolve your cyst. It is common to try birth control for a month or two for certain types of cysts. I have actually had large painful cysts that had to be removed surgically. I hope the Junel does the trick and your feeling better in no time. You can double check with your doctor or pharmacist that short term use is ok with your concerns and family history. Best wishes to you!
Avatar f tn Also, typically ovarian cancer does not present with cysts on BOTH ovaries. Birth control pills can be effective at keeping these cysts from forming or growing as well as regulating the cycle (especially important in women with PCOS who tend to skip periods due to lack of ovulations). If you have blood relatives who have had ovarian cancer, then you may be at increased risk.
Avatar f tn 5 cm and the right ovarian cys is about 8.5 cm. I have been on birth control pills for over 2 years and my bloodwork for hormones all came back at normal levels. I am curious about why these cysts may have formed and are they a sign of future problems?
Avatar n tn 9 cm on my left and 2 small fibroids. He told me I could go on a birth control pill, which bcps and me do not agree, expect heavy periods for 5-10 years. Down the road could consider a d and c or ablation, but for right now follow up in 3 months. Then it dawned on me this weekend that my pain is on the right and my cyst is on the left. My cramps are mild just annoying take a few Advil here and there. Getting my period next week.
Avatar f tn and most likely has since birth. now present time Sept 2015 I have been put on Alysena low dose birth control to control excessive bleeding and cramps during my cycles. I have been on these pills for about 6 months. my periods are not normal. the pain I am having is so bad I've had to miss 3-4 days of work as im curled up in bed with my heating pad. the pain is my lower abdomen on both sides likely where my ovaries reside. the pain radiates down both hips and down the front of my thighs.
Avatar f tn i have two ovarian cysts one 3cm and the other slightly smaller, i was already on mirena an iud and now put on yaz to for birth control to shrink the cysts but now my breast are swelling really bad, what should i look out for as for complications, is this safe?
Avatar f tn Try not to worry! I know that is easier said than done, but cysts, especially smaller ones, are a pretty typical thing. They will probably just monitor it at that size to see if it resolves itself or grows. 4 cm isn't really too big, they dont usually look at removing until they are 7 or so, unless there is some big concern.
Avatar n tn I'm really confused on what birth control does and why it can be so important. Any insight?
Avatar n tn everything looked ok on the ultrasound, except a small cyst on my left ovary. He put me on birth control pills but nothing happend i was still having pelvic pain. Avatar m tn I went off birth control 4 years ago and ever since then I have been developing ovarian cysts. Sometimes i get lower back pain that extends down my buttocks and feels like sciatica . I also get what feels like menstral cramping after intense exercise. During ovulation i also experience uncomfortable cramping. My periods are pretty regular (maybe off by 5 days tops) and they are not heavy, just normal and they last about 4 days.
Avatar f tn I am 16 years old, I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts after many times to the hospital in may. I've been to my OB several of times. But everytime I go she kinda brushes off my symptoms. I'm having fatigue, low energy, frequent headaches, back pain, hip pain, and of course low abdominal pain. I'm also in constant pain, at times it gets worse.

Avatar m tn I have a question and I don't t know where to put it so I put it here.
Avatar m tn In the US, doctors sometimes prescribe birth control pills to help control cysts. If she truly needs to wait on conception due to her medical issues, then she may want to talk to her doctor about trying birth control pills to help control the cysts. If possible, she could also get a second opinion. But, if you can't change doctors and have more questions, then a follow-up visit is good idea. You can write down your specific questions to ask the doctor.
Avatar m tn Hi, Most of the times, simple cyst of the ovary will resolve spontaneously or with the help of birth control pills. Some cysts may increase in size and a regular follow up is essential.
