Common Questions and Answers about Ovarian cysts no period

Avatar f tn Usually, cysts at your size don't stop your period. It is normal to be a bit irregular with your periods and vary by a week or so. Could you be pregnant? If you don't start within the next week, you might want to take a pregnancy test. Or, if you have pain that persists, call your doctor. Some mild pain that comes and goes is normal.
Avatar n tn I usually always have a very regular menstural cycle. Always starts between the 14-17 of the month. I have not had sex since November, and it was with a condom and while I was on birth control. I quit taking birth control in janurary and my cycles have been normal. I've had a period every month, but this one isn't showing up. I do have a history of ovarian cysts but no irregularities in mensturating. For reference, I'm 16 and began mensturating when I was 11. Thank you all!
579959 tn?1218310678 I would call my gyn and bring the report. I don't want to scare you but I think you should also get a referral to a gyn/onc. I would do this sooner than later. I'm no expert on cysts or masses....and I know that having a cyst can cause alot of your symptoms..but I just wouldn't risk it. Follow up and be forceful. The pain you are describing is not normal..as a matter of fact..pain is never normal!!!
Avatar f tn It is really rare to have ovarian cancer in both ovaries. Most cysts are benign. Unless you have the BRCA mutation you have 1.4% of ovarian cancer in a lifetime. I am no doctor but you might have polycystic ovary syndrome.
600006 tn?1219851570 the utrasound came back showing that I did have some ovarian cysts. The Doctor told me that the cysts were normal and to not worry about anything unless I have pain. Now I know ovarian cysts are normal and that when you have your menstral cycle it washes them out, so I am not so much worried about having them, I am more concerned about the Doctor being an idiot... There has to be some kind of reason that I have not started my period.
Avatar n tn The doctor has NOTHING to say!! She says there is no medical intervention for this. Is this common for people with cysts? How do I get this cyst out if I am not menustruating. Everywhere I read, it should go away in 2- 3 cycles but when there are no cycles how will it leave me? Could be ovarian cancer?? I am also having hot urine sometimes. Please help me.
Avatar f tn I have not had a period since October 2010 when I had 2 polyps, 2 ovarian cysts and 2 fibroids removed. I am 49, have no menopause symptoms and my hormone levels are normal. Could the surgery have stopped my periods?
Avatar n tn My cysts weren't painful. No cramps or anything; just a missed period. I guess that's why they never thought to do a scan. My cramps were the same as yours. They were dull and lasted for a couple of minutes. I spotted at least twice a week for the whole month of November. I waited it out because I wanted to get a positive before I went to the doctor. My insurance doesnt cover everything and didnt want to pay any money out of pocket for nothing.
Avatar f tn I know I shouldn’t be on the internet reading about this stuff, but it says menopausal women shouldn’t technically have cysts on their ovaries anymore because there is no ovulation. So that’s why I am worried. I did have a follow-up with my GYN the very following day and she saw the report and told me not to give it a second thought and basically told me “see you next year for your annual”! I guess the fact that she isn’t worries makes me feel better, but my health anxiety has taken over.
Avatar f tn i am 44 and currently going through menopause. my hormone levels were checked and confirmed. i haven't had a period in 6 months. now i developed cysts on both ovaries and they are very painful. there are no signs so far for cancer. my doctor wants to remove the cysts. i'm o.k. with this, but he wants to remove my ovaries at the same time. he said they are not really working anymore. i will have to go on hormone therapy. i'm afraid, i've heard so many conflicting reports.
1524489 tn?1291406107 Yes,, an ovarian cyst can delay your period. This is what I have going on right now. I had to get a shot of progesterone yesterday and doc thinks this will shrink the cyst and give me a period in about 5 days. I am already starting to spot. I have had lots of ovarian pain, especially mid cycle and this is why. I had cysts before.. what a pain. An ultrasound should be able to determine whats going on.
Avatar f tn What are the symptoms of ovarian cysts and tumors? Often, ovarian cysts don't cause any symptoms. You may not realize you have one until you visit your health care provider for a routine pelvic exam. Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. If you have any of the symptoms below, it's important to have them checked out. That's because they can also be symptoms of ovarian tumors. Ovarian cancer often spreads before it is detected.
Avatar n tn D and C or ablation is done for heavy periods resulting from endometrial hyperplasia and not for ovarian cysts. If you want to go the natural way then you can wait for a spontaneous regression of the ovarian cyst. This will require follow up with frequent ultrasound scans. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
Avatar f tn Your breasts have probably developed breast cysts from not having your period in so long. Cysts are caused from to much estrogen in the body and when you have your period you produce the hormone progesterone which balances the estrogen. Feel your breasts for lumps. If you find some don't fret they are cancerous the majority of the time but do get them checked as well. Good luck dearest.
Avatar f tn s been 4 months since i started my treatment, but the problem is that i have developed twice during this period ovarian cysts 3-5 cm, which cause me great pain. My doctor insists that visanne should prevent me from developing ovarian cysts, and every time this happens i have to take for 20 days secondary progesterone. So my question is should i look for somethng else? Maybe my thiroid or any other hormones that could cause ovarian cysts?

3183328 tn?1351183517 I have ovarian cysts and have had them since March 2011. I finished my period the beginning of this week and before I started my period I think one of my cysts ruptured because I was in excruciating pain from last Friday- Sunday. I started my period and it ended I think Tuesday. Well now I have cramping and I don't know why. I normally have severe cramping before my period, not after. What do you think it could be?
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are extremely common - so do not worry. However, they can also be extremely painful and can grow extremely large. Each month, when a woman ovulates, small follicles form on the outer part of the ovary. These follicles look like little marbles almost through an ultrasound. Now, during your period - these follicles are, keyword here 'supposed' to break free with the lining of your period but for some women, they do not.
Avatar n tn These symptoms can mean many different things, with ovarian cancer or just ovarian cysts being some of them. You should get to your doctor and arrange for transvaginal ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound and perhaps a CT. If you think this might be cyst related do take a look at the health pages (top right) and look at the cyst types and symptoms. Hope you find your problem soon.
1872158 tn?1320302628 Hello Indah I am actually 14 years old and I have been dealing with ovarian cysts since I was 10 years old. There is no real cure for ovarian cysts but waiting it out until they naturally burst which can be very very painful. There are some solutions to it, doctors say for females the cysts occur because of our monthly cycle, its never too late to take birth control which is one of the solutions to cysts but it all depends on the person.
Avatar f tn After I started the replacement I started having odorless clear discharge with my period and I thought at first that I had some barrier issue with my bladder/ uterus or that my tampon was wicking urine from the string, but no urine odor. I have had ovarian cysts before as well, but no doc wants to hear about this strange thing! Glad to hear others are experiencing this!
Avatar f tn t think you need to be worried based on those results. Cysts that are worrisome for ovarian cancer are usually 5cm or larger and complex (have solid parts). Hemorrhagic cysts are very common. Most cysts (both simple and complex) do turn out to be benign. Be sure to have follow-up to confirm that your cysts are not growing larger. But, to me, it sounds very good in terms of NOT being malignant.
Avatar n tn Another possibility to look at would be your appendix, unless you have already gotten it out. Fibroids and ovarian cysts can cause a lot of pain. I would talk to your doctor about your concerns, but it does sound like it is the fibroid and cysts.
