Common Questions and Answers about Ovarian cysts no ovulation

Avatar n tn Hi Corky It is reassuring that you had endometriosis and no evidence of malignant change at surgery. I would assume that the ovarian cysts are either related to ovulation or endometriosis.
Avatar f tn Hello, The fertility drug clomiphene (Clomid, Serophene), which is used to induce ovulation, increases the risk of a corpus luteum cyst developing after ovulation. These cysts don't prevent or threaten a resulting pregnancy. Most ovarian cysts disappear in 8 to 12 weeks. One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling.
Avatar f tn I know I shouldn’t be on the internet reading about this stuff, but it says menopausal women shouldn’t technically have cysts on their ovaries anymore because there is no ovulation. So that’s why I am worried. I did have a follow-up with my GYN the very following day and she saw the report and told me not to give it a second thought and basically told me “see you next year for your annual”! I guess the fact that she isn’t worries makes me feel better, but my health anxiety has taken over.

Avatar n tn Does birth control help with the pain from ovarian cysts? Does using birth control help ressolve the existing cysts? How long does it take for birth control to show progress in pain and resolution of ovarian cysts? I started using the nuva ring almost two weeks ago. I thought the pain was gone (as it had disappeared for over a week) then all of a sudden this weekend the pain returned with the same intensity. Does this mean the cysts are growing? I am growing extremely frustrated with the pain.
Avatar f tn re ovulated from both ovaries or you may have some tiny benign cysts. I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Basically I have tiny cysts on my ovaries and I would feel crampy and feel ovarian pain, especially around ovulation time, but I wasn't ovulating. I am currently taking medication for it and I don't feel ovarian pain/discomfort anymore.
162784 tn?1227296050 Just wondering if you had actually been diagnosed with having ovarian cysts because regular pains during ovulation can be quite normal and can indicate that you did indeed ovulate.
Avatar n tn Hi There, one simple way to know if cysts are functional - that is- related to the ovarian - menstrual cycle is to wait a cycle or two and rescan. Cysts that are related to ovulation will be gone and be replaced by new cysts with the new cycle. A persistent or growing cyst may be a tumor benign or malignant. Ca 125 is not a screen for cancer. The result just tells us that this cyst or tumor does not produce the CA 125 protein. I am assuming that tha 4.5 cm, 2.8 cm, 3.3 cm and 4.
Avatar f tn Hi There at age 20, most cysts are from the normal process of ovulation that occurs each month in between your periods. there are some cysts that are unrelated to ovulation and need to be surgically removed. the decision to perform surgery will depend on the size of the cyst and whether it is growing. usually cysts less than 5 cm are just watched, especially at your age. so the details of your reports are very important.
720499 tn?1230845510 I was referring to just the functional cysts. Many gals are placed on birth control pills to suppress ovulation ... no ovulation , no cysts .. I think it depends on type of cyst.. also, the BC pills won't get rid of cysts already there.. just possibly prevent more from forming (functional cysts) ..
Avatar f tn i havent been back to a doctor as i have no insurance right now but i am starting to worry about ovarian cancer. no bleeding or anything elese just the pain with some bloating. is it possible that cancer could grow since my last ct? are these normal cys symptoms? i thought cysts only last a few months.
1279767 tn?1277229374 My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about a year off and on with no luck. We have purchased box after box of those over the counter ovulation tests and still no luck. I talked to a few friends and family members about the problem and one thing that keeps popping up is the possibility of me having ovarian cysts, as my mother had them...but yet here I am, so evidently she wasn't infertile.
Avatar n tn cysts or all kinds, as some cysts are not dependent on ovulation to begin with. There are lots of ladies that have ovarian cysts (like myself) who no longer ovulate and haven't for years. Also, at 41, many women are still thinking about having kids, so it's really a personal decision..I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.. good luck and let us know..
Avatar n tn I think I would call your Dr., and tell him or her the same thing you told us. Cysts can and do sometimes last a few months . Since you have the diagnosis, I'd ask what the suggested treatment plan is ..I have no idea what type of IUD you have, but one that I've seen advertised on TV clearly states that ovarian cysts are a side affect, that will disappear.. otherwise I'm sorry I can't be more helpful..
Avatar m tn Hello, my name is Keri. Once in a while, it seems during ovulation, or a week before my period I start to feel nausea. This has decreased some, since I have been trying to do gluten free and dairy free. I had blood tests run for numerous things, and the Gyn also ran some tests to see if possible Ovarian cancer. All the tests came back fine. They think that it may be perimenopausal? does this sound possible. I am 39.
Avatar f tn Does it happen on one side one month, and the other side the next month? It's not uncommon to get ovarian cysts with ovulation, especially if you have had sex near ovulation; the ovary can get bruised and a little swollen and then fluid fills the pore that the egg came out of and can't get out easily. And yeeeks, that can indeed hurt. You might talk to your ob-gyn about it.
Avatar f tn Women of child bearing age do regularly develop small cysts on a regular basis as a result of ovulation. Sometimes these cysts don't resolve themselves right away. Did the doctor say whay kind of cysts they are? Most times when the cysts are the size of yours they will wait a month or two and redo the ultrasound to see if they have resolved. There is some good info on cysts on the health pages attached to this forum (top right). Good luck with everything.
Avatar n tn i read on a medical web page not long after finding out that i myself have a hemmhoragic cyst on my left ovary that fertility drugs can help to cause ovarian cysts because most ovarian cysts are caused by the eggs not making it all the way out of the ovary or something of that sort and they just kind of pile up inside of the ovary and form a cyst. however, i did read that most ovarian cysts go away sometime during ovulation.
Avatar f tn It’s not painful just annoying & persistent. It feels almost right up on the curve of the pelvic bone on my left side primarily (sometimes the right). No other symptoms or changes. I’m off my period but I think I’m in my fertile (ovulation) window. Could it be ovarian cysts?
Avatar n tn But, ovarian cysts at any age can change your hormones and cause these types of symptoms. Unfortunately, no two ovarian cysts show themselves in the same way. So, it is hard to say without having tests to rule out all other causes. In general the list of symptoms you describe sound like they could be related to menopause. But, if you are under 45, then that is less likely. I think you should definitely see your gyn and have some tests to determine the cause. Welcome to the forum!
Avatar f tn Unfortunately I haven't heard of anything to "prevent" them either. I had one many years ago and it just vanished. This last time I wasn't so lucky, but it turned out fine. .. From what I've learned, functional cysts are a common occurence with ovulation, that's why the b.c. pills sometimes work. Otherwise, I don't think there are any answers , at least not yet! .. Hope you feel better though.
Avatar m tn Also check out the ovarian cyst forum at medhelp for discussion of the managements of ovarian cysts that are not related to ovarin cancer good luck
