Avatar f tn Some docs say that the cysts are not suppposed to hurt. Does polycystic ovarian syndrome cause excruciating pain? If not, what could be wrong with me. My mom died from cancer and i am worried that it could be.
463897 tn?1468013750 MarieMichele has much knowledge as it relates to Ovarian Cysts, and we look forward to working with her and the entire community to continue improving and growing the Ovarian Cyst Community.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are extremely common - so do not worry. However, they can also be extremely painful and can grow extremely large. Each month, when a woman ovulates, small follicles form on the outer part of the ovary. These follicles look like little marbles almost through an ultrasound. Now, during your period - these follicles are, keyword here 'supposed' to break free with the lining of your period but for some women, they do not.
Avatar f tn Although these traits can occur with cancer, they can also occur with benign cysts. And most cysts are benign. The average woman's lifetime risk of ovarian cancer is very low at 1.3%. So if you do not have a genetic predisposition / family history of ovarian cancer then the odds are greatly in your favor that they are benign. Is your doctor monitoring them for now with periodic ultrasounds?
Avatar m tn My concern is that she recently had a very sharp pain in her lower abdomen which lasted over an hour, and when she was examined by her OBGYN a couple of days later, she requested Tracie to have an ultrasound because she felt some cysts. The ultrasound showed 2 regular fluid filled cysts and 1 solid(complex as she called it) cyst that had ruptured that was full of blood.

Avatar n tn re all just regular ladies here that have had cyst and surgeries for cysts that try to give each other information and support. There is a woman on the boards who also had 2 of one type of these cysts and had surgery not too long ago, she can give you more about it when she sees the post. In the meantime, if you go to the Heath Pages at the top of the cyst forum you'll find a lot of information on the ovarian cyst link.
529172 tn?1213353244 I just learned that I have 3 ovarian cysts one measuring 5.7 cm and the 2nd one 4.
Avatar f tn I searched and searched the internet, these boards, and everywhere else inbetween to try and figure out what was wrong with my Mom trying to find something, anything, comforting about the situation. Anyway, here is our story and I hope anyone that was in our situation can find comfort! :) Hint - it's good news! Basics - Mom is 46, premenapausal, one child (me!) So my Mom went in for her normal annual exam and came out with an irregular pap smear, enlarged uterus, and 10cm ovarian mass.
Avatar f tn Turns out I have ovarian cysts, 3 or 4 - the largest being 4.9cm and an enlarged ovary. However, she says my weight is nothing to do with the cysts and that I should go on a diet and do plenty of exercise - if its normal weight it will come off, if its not, it won't! Urghhhhh! What do I have to do to get her to realise that this weight gain is NOT normal for me regardless of the fact that I've just hit 41! Any suggestions anyone?
Avatar f tn Hi. I am a 29 year old with a history of ovarian cysts. After my last period I had some pelvic pain for about a week so I called my OBGYN and did a transvaginal ultrasound. The ultrasound was taken on day 15 of my cycle. It says that the uterus and myometrium are unremarkable and there is no fluid or bowl in the cul-de-sac. The right ovary is 4x3x3 cm and it has a simple cyst measuring 17x20x24 mm w/out suspicious vascular flow.
543435 tn?1282242679 Ovarian Cysts Benign....chronic apendicitis (took it out) mesenteric adenitis (a benign inflamation of the lymph nodes). Not quite sure how they diagnosed the last one since they didn't do any biopsies but i guess we just trust their higher education right? Anywho, take care everyone...and I will still be around reading the boards. Just send me a shout if I can answer any questions.
21064 tn?1309308733 Another little quirk I've had today - if I read a message then click on "back to forum" sometimes I end up on a completely different forum. I was at Ovarian cysts and it took me back to Ovarian Cancer. OK, that's not so far away. Then I was on Ovarian cysts and it popped me over to Undiagnosed Symptoms. I didn't even know there was such a place. Is it just because they're working on the site and we're getting shuffled around a bit?
Avatar n tn The heavy mensus could be the cause of the anemia. It's not uncommon to be anemic during the reproductive years. It's quite possible a cyst is present. That can also affect the mensus. Don't go thinking about ovarian cancer so quickly. Cysts are the much more common problem for women. Or it could be a hemmorahgic cyst (bleeding). Most of the time they are harmless and remedy themselves, but on rarer occasions they bleed too much and need removal.
1666478 tn?1303226690 i was told around 3 weeks ago that i had a solid/cystic mass on my left ovary (aprox 5cm) i was refered to a gyneacolgyst who explain it is highly likely to me ovarian cancer...i had the ca 125 blood test last week (awaiting my results) and had a pelvic mri with contrast today! i`am so scared. i have to little boys to care for i dont have time to be sick! she did say i could be suffereing from endometriosis as i experience upper abdominal pain during the time of my period!
Avatar f tn I have a history of ovarian cysts and recently had a laproscopy done to remove minor endo and a couple of ovarian cysts. WHen I had my first Day 3 FSH test done in Oct it was 10- not an issue according to my RE. I had the test re-done in Feb when I was also having issues with some small cysts on my ovaries, and it came back 1.6!! Very low, but both gyn and RE said that was "very good".
Avatar n tn What are the lingering effects of a ruptured ovarian cyst? I've had cysts before but this one is different. It ruptured almost two weeks ago, causing extreme abdominal pain. I recognized the pain so I went to an urgent care the next day instead of the ER. A few days later, I began having lower back pain. Now I have other symptoms such as fatigue, moodiness, lighter/shorter periods, frequent urination. My appetite has changed.
Avatar f tn Is it digestive? Is it an ovarian cyst? My symptoms get worse every month. Sorry for my long message. I am just at my wits end !
192291 tn?1345400135 Im 27 have 3 kids of my own, 4, 2, and 8 weeks i had 2 vaginal births and on c section which i had 8 weeks ago, i had my tubes tied when i had c section.. i had my right ovary removed on 2007 due to a ovarian cysts.
Avatar f tn I had to push the date back due to insurance purposes. I received a message from the dr. himself stating it is a complex cyst and he is worried and we need to follow up to make sure it isnt ovarian cancer. I have been in hysterics since the voice mail. I went in for the ultrasound yesterday morning and recieved a call from the drs office today. They sd it is now 4cm but it is a solid complex cyst. They arent as worriesome but the chance of cancer is still there.
Avatar n tn m not sure if there is a correlation between testosterone and ovarian cysts but maybe someone will address that. Your cysts are small and there is no real evidence to panic at this time. Leave a message with your doctor's answering service and ask to be called back this weekend. Hang in there.
Avatar f tn Hi, I noticed you didn't say if your doctor is a gyn, but I will assume it is for now. Did you get a copy of your ct. scan and ultrasound for your records? You can get the written reports so if you need a second opinion you'll have them to bring with you. I have a 5 cm. cyst on the left side, it's being removed next month along with the ovary as it has gotten larger and I'm post-menopause.
178345 tn?1242536246 The new community is very simple. There are a lot of members on this site with ovarian cysts, that do not have ovarian cancer. When we find a group of members with a condition, we give them a community so that others with the same condition can find them and they have a dedicated place to discuss the condition. If you look around our site, we've been doing these break-out forums for years. MS was broken out of Neurology. Heart Rhythm was broken out of Heart Disease.
