682122 tn?1233186551 Ovarian cysts are mostly benign, but there are riskier in older women. From what I have been told, in the case of older women, they might remove the whole ovary to avoid regrowth of the cyst. If discovered to be cancerous, they will remove both oavaries and fallopian tubes. It also depends on what type of cyst you have. Were you told? Talk to your doctor about how he/she plans on approaching this. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I know I shouldn’t be on the internet reading about this stuff, but it says menopausal women shouldn’t technically have cysts on their ovaries anymore because there is no ovulation. So that’s why I am worried. I did have a follow-up with my GYN the very following day and she saw the report and told me not to give it a second thought and basically told me “see you next year for your annual”! I guess the fact that she isn’t worries makes me feel better, but my health anxiety has taken over.
Avatar f tn Just another comment to echo Trudie.. Cysts are so common in younger women.. and 95% or them are benign and nothing to worry about.. Many times, we have them and don't even realize it...Bet he'll want to check it in a few months.. And, yes...check out the Health Pages..
Avatar n tn Hi, You don't say what your age is but cysts are very , very common in younger women. It probably isn't so much that your cyst "spread".. but that you have another one. If you check out the top right of this page, it will explain a lot about cysts. Again, they are very very common in younger (pre menopausal) women. Many times they will simply disappear on their own. Other times they will grow and have to be removed surgically. 95% of them are benign..
Avatar f tn Hello I have had a 2nd TV scan repeated from November showing 3 thick walled irregular borders with increased blood flow small cysts all in one ovary.i am very scared.thick walls and increased blood flow from reading are all suspicious ? The cysts have not grown from novembers scan which only showed same enlarged ovary with heterogenous texture.does having increased blood flow to the cysts mean anything sinister or can benign cysts have this blood flow?
Avatar m tn t t know where to put it so I put it here.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are very common and affect mainly women in their 30s and 40s. Women who are past menopause (ages 50-70) and have ovarian cysts have a higher risk of having ovarian cancer. The only way to diagnose ovarian cancer is looking at the cells under a microscope. There are tumour markers the doctors can test for called CA-125 and CA19-9 (both are blood tests) however numbers can be higher due to inflammation.
921657 tn?1243700001 Therefore this study concluded that the presence of ovarian cysts does not seem linked to ovarian cancer. This article appeared in on online edition of American Family Physician in April 2004. http://www.aafp.org/afp/20040401/tips/25.html also summarized here http://www.uptodate.com/patients/content/abstract.do?
604168 tn?1222537786 How old are you? This many sound like a rude question, but the ca 125 is more accurate in menapausal women. How big is your cyst and is it complex or simple? I also have an elevated ca 125 with simple cysts, but my ca 125 was elevated prior to the cysts occuring. Mine stays around the same level and has been that way for 9 months. Although the ca 125 is very nerve racking, it isn't all that reliable. I wish I could be of more help.
3100626 tn?1341387176 Could this pain be cysts. In so much pain really getting scared my mom died.
Avatar f tn I find often that women who have chronic pelvic pain are talked into believing that 1-2 cm cysts are causing their problems. These cysts are normal and are almost always present on every woman's ovaries. I hope this is not what your doctors are talking about too! Your problem is a difficult one--chronic pain in the pelvic area, and believe it or not, often results from some sort of major physical/psychological trauma that becomes worse and worse over time.
Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
Avatar f tn When the follicles are forming small cysts may be present in the normal ovary. These ovarian cysts which start during the normal function of menstrual cycle are called functional cysts which are of two types follicular cyst and corpus luteal cyst. Most of these cysts are harmless and disappear over a period of time. They are usually asymptomatic. In few patients cysts may cause menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain. In such cases medical help should be sought.
1081864 tn?1257519948 This combination of medications will get rid of most of your symptoms ( irregular periods, hair growth, acne, ovarian cysts). But obviously are not going to help you get pregnant if you are going for a girl! You might want to see a good endocrinologist in addition to your gynecologist. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I suppose a high creatinine level could indirectly be related to ovarian cysts as ovarian cysts can aggravate hydronephrosis, which in turn elevated creatinine levels.

Avatar f tn The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can cause ovarian enlargement and the majority of ovarian cysts are benign. Did you have a scan to determine if you have visible cysts? Most cysts go away on their own. If this persists for you, you may want to talk to you doctor about the possibility of your having an underlying condition like PCOS or endometriosis. But, even with these conditions, the majority of women are still able to conceive.
Avatar f tn About 10% of women using Mirena will develop an ovarian cyst. These cysts may disappear on their own in a month or two. However, cysts can cause pain and sometimes will need surgery I found this info under contracept.
