Avatar f tn I had ultrasounds (both transadbdominal and transvaginal) done on Friday after arriving at my GP with extreme pain in pelvis/abdomen areas. Also had unbelievable pressure in both my vaginal and rectal regions. So much that I could not sit flat. I had quite of bit of bloating also. I had my results from the US immediately. I was told that I had a complex ovarian cyst that had partially ruptured. I also had free fluid in the pelvis. I was scheduled to see a Gyno in two weeks...
Avatar m tn That being said, fibroids are common and usually require no intervention. The same for ovarian cysts. However, ovarian cysts usually go away within 3 cycles / months. So another ultrasound in a couple of months or so would be the typical plan. But your doctor should be communicating with you.
Avatar n tn Just as most ovarian cysts are benign so are most para-ovarian cysts. From what I have read, they don't usually need intervention / surgery. They look for the presence of free fluid (in the pelvis) as one of the traits that may be indicative of cancer. The fact that there is "no free fluid" is good. Hopefully, your doctor will explain this to you.
Avatar n tn A transvaginal ultrasound (TV) is the most valuable diagnostic study in the evaluation of an adnexal or pelvic mass/suspicious cysts. Cysts, hemorrhagic cysts, endometriomas, and dermoids have a high predictive diagnosis via TV ultrasound. An MRI is usually the next test that should be given as they are more precise when read by the right radiologist.
Avatar f tn other than that its just a constant lingering pain in the same spot. I have had ovarian cysts previously, but recent US all show clear. Any ideas, or thoughts could help!
Avatar f tn I tend to get cysts all the time - ie kidney cysts, ovarian, fibrocystic breasts , cysts on my back. But the mri reported didn't suggest any special follow up to it and I am not sure what to think. I'd love some ideas. My kidneys could be inflamed due to the cysts and stones but don't know if that would affect the pelvic area... Thanks for any ideas.
1398693 tn?1343684738 I do not have ovarian cysts, but my ct scan showed free fluid in my pelvis are there any other causes for this?
621010 tn?1221508226 I was diagnosed in feb with multiloculated cysts after having a CT scan in the ER due to diverticulitis. Again I went to the ER for diverticulitis and a second CT scan was done and it showed the cysts are larger and they said that malignancy couldnt be ruled out. Well the thing is, these ct scans did not get to my Gastro dr until I called the ER to have them sent to him, which was on 9/10/08. I go to to my GI and he tells me that I need to go to a gyn-oncologist, because I have ovarian cysts.
1068834 tn?1294009992 i have an ovarian cyst at 16 yrs old i was diagnosed with 5 ovarian cysts i got sent in to emerge after 4 months of continuous bleeding and doctors telling me im fine and theirs nothing to worry about now im 20 yrs old and still have one of my cysts measuring 5cm and in the bigining it n was 7 cm and after my surgery i was told i couldn't have children but i am now a mother of a 21 month old daughter so in all just keep an eye on your cysts and if you need to get a second opinion.
551683 tn?1220656108 The symptoms you are describing are very much in line with ovarian cysts. Do you know what size or type of cysts you have? Surgery for cysts depends on size, type and whether you are in pain. In many cases if surgery is required it can be done laporascopically. Don't ignore the cysts. You really should have a gyn dealing with them. Take a look at the health pages attached to the ovarian cyst forum. There is some good information on types of cysts that you might be helpful.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can be very painful - however with everything else going on have they suggested any treatment for you? I would recommend making an appt with your doctor or even a second opinion to see what all is going on. In the meantime, one thing you can do is start keeping a journal of al of your symptoms. Be as specific as possible about what cycle day you are on, pain level, what the pain feels like, how long it lasts and what you do/take for it, and where the pain is.
Avatar f tn Some of the common causes are Infection or inflammation of the organs present in the pelvis, pelvic adhesions, ovarian cysts, vaginal infections, bladder problems, irritable bowel syndrome, uterine fibroids and pelvic inflammatory diseases (PID) .Endometriosis and nerve irritation can cause chronic pelvic pain.
Avatar f tn I have scheduled a laproscopic surgery later this month that could result in a hysterectomy. I have had a lot of pain in my pelvis (dull ache) as well as constipation, spotting ALL the time, tender breasts and fatigue. I am 35, have 2 children (I am done in that department, thankfully)! I have NEVER had any "female" problems. I have always had regular periods, got pregnant easily and had realtively easy labor/delivery..........so all of this kinda freaks me out.
Avatar f tn For the past year, ive suffered with sharp shooting pains in my pelvis, and a sciatic like pain down my left buttock and leg. I frequently get pains in my lower back, and it always seem very tender and sore. My doctor told me i had sciatica in my left leg, and that it would go after 3 or 4 weeks on its own, but it hasnt, and im starting to think my symptoms are maybe that of a cyst/cysts on my ovary.
Avatar f tn My OBGYN is recommending that I have laparoscopic surgery for complex, thick walled ovarian cysts (2 cysts being approximately 3 cm each) in 2 weeks. I would appreciate anyone's input. Here's my story: *Rt. ovary/fallopian tube removed 13 months ago; diagnosed with hemorrhagic cyst; endometriosis; serosal adhesions. Current infomation was gathered from 2 ultrasounds, a CT scan and a MRI. Information includes: * Aug. 23 Ultrasound revealed 2 cysts measuring 2.9 and 2.
Avatar f tn What showed was ovarian cysts and a small amount of fluid located in the middle of the pelvis. These were determined to not be a threat. I called my OB/GYN about the results, he looked them over and said they were normal for a woman my age. I am 43. Now, I have a pretty bloated lower abdomen and midback pain on the right side and some occasional nausea as well as weight gain. I have an appointment with a doctor to get a check up in a week. I am kind of freaked out.

Avatar f tn I went and got a CT scan of my Abdomen and Pelvis, and my doctor said I have a 6mm cyst on my liver and cysts in my ovaries and tubes and I should have the ovaries and tubes removed. I read the report and it says cannot see clearly enough but there is "Enhancement" in POSSIBLY my Ovaries, right larger then left. There small amount of pelvic fluid, and could be other etiologies( disease?) My questions are, WHAT IS ENHANCEMENT, can it mean a tumor?
Avatar n tn I just had an US done on Monday, 26th and results showed my L ovary cyst (that comes and goes) was fluid filled normal. All other organs looked good. The doctor said there was a bit more fluid than he'd like to see in the pelvic cavity (slight). Last year I was diagnosed with DCIS (early breast cancer), so I'm a bit concerned. The doctor said because of my history he is scheduling a CT scan and a gyn appt to be safe.
Avatar f tn However, when I sneeze and cough the pain is excruciating, sometimes in the right side of the pelvis and other times in the left. I went to the doctor last time I had a phase of constant dull pain and he gave me an antibiotic which did not work. I'm 19 and have irregular periods.
Avatar f tn I have pain in my belly button, which started today. I've also had chronic ovarian cysts, chronic pelvic and abdominal pain, loooong periods (13 days), constipation since january which has recently turned into constipation/loose stools since taking miralax, back pain, leg and hip pain, side pain, serious fatigue, pelvic pain, and swollen belly. Sometimes nauseous, sometimes have acid reflux like symptoms. Have had pelvic ultrasound and topical ultrasound, both normal they say.

Cysts, hemorrhagic cysts, endometriomas, and dermoids have a high predictive diagnosis via TV ultrasound. The blood test CA-125 is a test used by Dr's as a guide to determine if you have the most common form of ovarian cancer, approximately 80% of all ovarian cancers are epitheal ovarian cancer which is cancer of the cells on the surface of your ovary.
