Avatar f tn You can freak yourself out googling ovarian cysts. Ovarian cancer is scary. Tee statistic I read today is that you have 1.4% of getting ovarian cancer which is not very high. That means you have a 99.6% you will never get ovarian cancer.
Avatar f tn t had problems with ovarian cysts in the past (not that I was aware of anyway) and have no idea how long I had the liver and kidney cysts. I am surprised you have had so many CT scans. I have always read those should be limited due to the fairly high dose of radiation. If further investigation is needed, hopefully they can see what is needed with an MRI or ultrasound. Let us know what they find out.
Avatar f tn First off 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Most women with Ovarian Cancer, not all, are genetically predisposed with the BRCA mutation. I have BRCA. I had a grandmother and a aunt with ovarian cancer in their 50's. Ovarian cysts look a certain way on a ultrasound. At your age with no BRCA you have less than 1% of ovarian cancer. What is your doctor telling you? They saw my ultra sound and I was at the oncologist the next day. Many cysts go away on their own. Are you having symptoms.
Avatar f tn Anechoic cysts tend to be filled with fluid so that is a good sign. Cysts related to ovarian cancer tend to be complex (with solid parts) and grow larger than 5cm. Most cysts (even complex ones) turn out to be benign. It is the general recommendation to watch and wait cysts that are simple and under 5cm. But, since your cyst is already 4.1 cm., I can see why your doctor has mentioned surgery as a possibility. It is possible for your cyst to go away on its own in time.

256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar n tn 99% of ovarian cysts, masses, and tumors are benign. The symptoms for cancer are the same for benign cysts, too.
Avatar n tn Cyst just means fluid with a skin over ti - think of a blister. In PCOS, the cysts are ovarian follicles. that means , around each egg cell there is a circle of cells called follicular cells that produce hormones. Those cells help mature the egg. Every month one egg is selected to mature and to ovulate - that is to pop out of the ovary. In PCOS, ovulation rarely occurs but multiple egg cells with follicle cysts around them develop.

Avatar f tn 1 cm. A few small subcentimeter left follicular ovarian cysts are identified. There is no longer evidence of previously described 2.0 cm complex left ovarian cyst. The right ovary measures 3.8 x 2.0 x 4.0 cm and contains a thick walled complex right ovarian cyst measuring 3.4 x 1.4 x 4.0 cm. This was not noted on prior MRI examination. Clinical correlation and close follow-up is recommended. Small amount of free fluid is noted within the cul-de-sac. Impression: Status post hysterectomy.
Avatar n tn I've had a few ovarian cysts in the past 7 years. I was just wondering if they can affect my chances of getting pregnant?
958401 tn?1249654586 After my second surgery to remove ovarian cysts I was told that I should have been put on the contraceptive pill after my first operation. If I had been on it they probably wouldn't have had to do the second surgery as it can stop cysts from forming. I was never told to take or prescribed any medication bar pain relief and anti-inflammatories after my first surgery. Has anybody else been told to go onto the pill after having an ovary removed?
Avatar f tn HI, Even though you may not want any more children, you are too young for a hysterectomy. The bleeding can be stopped with help of haemostatic medicines and with use of hormones like progestins. Also a D&C may sometimes be necessary to stop the bleeding. The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.

Avatar m tn Hello, What you may be having is a simple ovarian cyst. They are common in child bearing age. Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own and a simple ovarian cyst less than 6 cm goes away on its own usually by 12 months. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn seems like it could be where my ovary is. Years ago, I had ovarian cysts that ruptured on my right ovary, and have since been on the pill to try to avoid the painful cysts. But for the past 4 months or so, I have very sudden, shooting/stabbing pains on my lower right side. It's always sitting down, and always completely out of the blue. It lasts for 5-10 seconds, and then completely subsides. Could this be related to an ovarian cyst? I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Interestingly I also have liver cysts - called simple cysts. There may be no connection of course. But I have read somewhere that ovarian cysts can be connected to PPIs. I also have gastro polyps as a result of long term use of PPIs. To avoid the polyps you might want to consider getting off PPIs once you have the acid reflux under control - and then seriously change your diet to make sure you don't get reflux again (less animal fats, sugars, acid food etc.).
1083673 tn?1388888638 If this is where I am thinking you are describing, you could have ovarian cysts. Does the pain intensify when you have your period, and or when you are ovulating? Does it stay only on one side or happen on both sides? (Around 14 days after your period starts?) I have suffered with ovarian cysts since I first started my period, and have continued for 20 years - having cysts.
