1842569 tn?1320917441 Causes of menorrhagia are hormonal imbalance, fibroids (benign (non-cancerous) tumors that often occur in the uterus of women during their thirties or forties), uterine cysts(ovarian cysts) and polyps(cervical or endometrial). Intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUD’s) and pelvic inflammatory disease may also lead to excessive bleeding. In my opinion, physical and pelvic examination along with blood tests and ultrasound pelvis are required to make a diagnosis.
Avatar f tn (not sure if this is any help) She cant keep anything down and she stays in the bathroom all day because of the heavy bleeding and more so the vomitting. Is it possible that she have an ovarian cyst.
Avatar f tn I was told to continue the bc and the bleeding should be better. I have started with the heavy cramping and spotting again. I bleed light to moderate most mornings and cramp during. I bleed after sex and cramp hard. This are the same problems I've been having for over a year. I go to the doctor in Jan and would like to have some conditions/suggestions to have him look into. I've been going to 2 different docs who share notes and nothing has helped.
Avatar n tn I had to go into the hospital b/c I was bleeding extremely heavy. My doctor did the u/s b/c of the bleeding and found this cyst. My doctor wants to do another u/s in 2 months unless I have heavy bleeding this next period or severe abdominal pain, then he will do the u/s sooner. He is concerned of cancer. Is that jumping the gun? I read that 95% of cysts are benign but what about the % of septated cysts. The reading I have done online linked my kind of cysts with cancer.
Avatar f tn i didnt bleed for a whole month but my bleeding began again. this time, the bleeding was very heavy for about an hour then would stop, i would bleed for a couple days then stop. the difference this time is that the bleeding wasnt as heavy for a long period of time. regardless of having a boyfriend for a little over a year now, i havent contracted any stds. fibroids run in my family. about 2 cysts/fibroids have bursted since i was first diagnosed.
Avatar n tn Common things being common, fibroids, which are benign muscle growths of the wall of the uterus, can give you pain and heavy bleeding. Ovarian cysts can be related to ovulation, or benign growths, endometriosis and so on. To sort that out, usually repeat scans are obtained over 3 to 6 months to see dynamically how the cysts come and go. Depending on your age, birth contorl pills are commonly tried to control heavy bleeding and pain.
Avatar n tn ve never had any pain even before I found out I had ovarian cysts. Usually its symptoms are prolonged bleeding, heavy bleeding, or absence of menses for a couple months (all of which I experienced). thatquitegirl is right, visiting a doctor would be the best thing to do to confirm any ovarian cysts and to know why youre having those abdominal pains.
Avatar f tn I have experienced heavy bleeding with clots for 5 plus years and it is getting worse. My periods are regular, but very heavy. Last period was different however, only two days long. Pain and cramps worsening, as well as radiating pain down left leg, that feels like leg is heating up from the inside. Transvaginal ultrasound showed a thick uterus during 3rd day of period and exam showed uterus has moved to left side of abdomen. I often suffer from low back pain and pressure in lower abdomen.
Avatar m tn You cannot get pregnant the day before a period starts. The bleeding you describe just sounds like the start of a period. Also by having sex a week ago - she's not going to be able to test or anything yet anyway. Most likely she just had an off cycle for some reason, it happens. If in a few weeks she's concerned she is pregnant then she can take a pregnancy test to ease her mind.

1337047 tn?1275914064 m going to call his office tomorrow morning to see if I can hurry this up a bit. I just want to know if anyone out there has had bleeding due to pressure of an ovarian cyst (I feel very heavy and cumbersome and feel as if my insides are falling out). I'm losing weight too despite this thing growing still. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Then when they pass, it is painful. You often also have heavy bleeding. It is like a super magnified bad period with cramps and bleeding. Then you pretty much go back to normal after. I had one 15 years ago and do not think I've had any others since. So, you don't always get more. Some women do. But it is not serious even though it is a annoying.
Avatar f tn hetrogenous myometrial texture means it is possible that you have Adenomyosis as your uterus is not its natural form. Do you have heavy bleeding? Nabothian cysts are usually fine and you shouldnt worry. To me if I was to read this it sounds like it is implicating possibly Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. If you are in pain it should be removed depending on the symptoms you are having. What made you get the ultrasound pain?
1636472 tn?1439182988 I started spotting the next day so I started taking the progesterone pills nightly. Come March 13th I had heavy bleeding with clots. Then for the next 2 weeks it was light to medium bleeding with heavy gushes in the evening. Now for the past 2 weeks it’s been heavy with clots and almost impossible to function in my day to day life. My doc prescribed me provera to take for 7 days which seemed to slow it down until I had a pelvic u/s done and after that I’ve been bleeding heavier and heavier.
Avatar f tn I have been having lower abdomen problems (burning constantly) for about a year. I have been seeing a Gastroenterologist and have numerous test done and have been diagnosed with GERD and Barretts Esophagus and IBS. I take medication and watch what I eat but nothing helps. I had a CT Scan for these problems and it showed a cystic mass on my ovary so I had to go to my Gyn and had a Pelvic Sonogram. I have read that sometimes Ovarian Cancer can have the same symptoms as these other problems.
371980 tn?1276740809 All of this can be related to the cysts. The heavy bleeding is probably just the lining shedding because you havn't had a period for a couple of months. It is definitely possible for that to be shedding and it is extra heavy cuz of the lack of a period. Take care and try not to worry.... Things will work out just fine Im sure.
Avatar m tn I knew my gyn wanted to check for changes in the ovarian cyst. She talked surgery, and made it sound like a done deal due to the heavy bleeding (which I didn't realize wasn't normal until the Dr. visit). The follow-up was with her partner for the ultrasound (he did the first u/s as well). He also sent me to get blood work done. When I returned for the u/s results with my regular gyn, she said both ovaries had cysts, the original one had changed. One of the cysts was complex.
Avatar f tn I got an ultrasound and they found nothing but its still painful. It got so bad to the point were there was bleeding a few times. It was a heavy bleed and i knew it wasn't my menstrual cycle. I just recently lost my job and my insurance so I'm not too sure about what to do because i can't afford the medical bills. I don't know what is wrong with my ovary and what is causing this pain and bleeding, please help.
Avatar n tn I hear that ovarian cysts have the same symptoms as pregnancy. Anyone have experience with them and can tell the difference?
Avatar n tn Hi I had no periods for two years - and then started with heavy bleeding a year ago. I, too, have a history of many ovarian cysts - all benign. But no cyst surgeries. I went to a new GYN (my old one was not worried and I was). The new GYN did an ultrasound to measure the thickness of the uterine lining and it was over 6 - it should be under that if you are menopausal. So the next step was endometrial biopsy and D&C.
Avatar n tn Uterus is enlarged, measuring 11.1 x 6.3 x 5.8 cm. There is a mass along the posterior uterine body measuring 3.8 x 3.7 x 3.1 cm and another mass anteriorly on the left measuring 1.4 x 1.5 x 1.4 cm. There is some fluid seen within the endocervical canal. My ovaries are normal in size but there are simple bilatral ovarian cysts measuring 1.7 x 1.7 x 1.4 cm and 0.8 x 1.1 x 0.8 cm with additional follicles noted within the left ovary. No free intrapelvic fluid noted.
Avatar f tn I just received the results from transvaginal ultrasound Im a 50 yr old female it reads like this: right ovary 1.5x2.6 cm left ovary 3.8x5.0cm. Septated left ovarian measuring 2.8 x 4.8 cm no significant peritoneal fluid observed, Hertergeneous uterus with small myometrial cysts, Septated left ovarian cyst.measuring 2.8 cm x 4.8 cm.
Avatar n tn I just wanted to reach out and tell you that I feel your pain and have been very scared myself. I have a history of many ovarian cysts and that worries me too. My cysts have turned out to be functional, which basically means they will resolve on their own, but I get them every month. It is very painful, hard to sit, and feels like a lot of pressure in abdomen and rectum too. I also have been suffering with heavy bleeding and pain for about six months.
Avatar n tn The heavy mensus could be the cause of the anemia. It's not uncommon to be anemic during the reproductive years. It's quite possible a cyst is present. That can also affect the mensus. Don't go thinking about ovarian cancer so quickly. Cysts are the much more common problem for women. Or it could be a hemmorahgic cyst (bleeding). Most of the time they are harmless and remedy themselves, but on rarer occasions they bleed too much and need removal.
