Avatar n tn I have talked to several gynos an all of them jave told me that if you suffer from ovarian cysts that they can actually burst and most of the time you wont even know they burst because they burst during your period. I dont have it every month but i do have it every couple months. They isnt much they can do except treat the pain if your have cysts unless they are very big. These can be found by getting a simple an quick ultrasound.
Avatar f tn 7, 2009 so I titled mine the same. ~ One person in the old posts said they were told they had ovarian cysts that had burst, which is what all of the water is. Makes sense because I am 40, and had been diagnosed with ovarian cysts at 20, had to go to the hospital I was in so much pain, but have never had trouble since - until yesterday. Although at the time, my doctor did tell me I would have the cysts in cycles with my period, always.
Avatar m tn Hello, my name is Keri. Once in a while, it seems during ovulation, or a week before my period I start to feel nausea. This has decreased some, since I have been trying to do gluten free and dairy free. I had blood tests run for numerous things, and the Gyn also ran some tests to see if possible Ovarian cancer. All the tests came back fine. They think that it may be perimenopausal? does this sound possible. I am 39.
6589573 tn?1382725642 I am 38 years old with a history of ovarian cysts & endometriosis. I haven't had a period in four months now. I have never had irregular periods before even with the endo. Had 2 surgeries to remove adhesions and 1 to remove a softball sized hemmoragic cyst. Doctor says I am not in perimenopause either. I have pain at my left ovary, clear discharge, and blood clots have come out during a bowel movement. Aside from feeling bloated and basically horrible the pain is becoming worse.
Avatar f tn My vomiting episode used to start one or two days before period and last for 1-2 days during period. Doctor treated me for H-Pyroli bacteria and asked me to slow down. They missed or never did pelvic exam for cyst. Ask your friend to see Gyn.
Avatar m tn Also check out the ovarian cyst forum at medhelp for discussion of the managements of ovarian cysts that are not related to ovarin cancer good luck
Avatar f tn I have had pain on my left side for the past 6 months. I have had several ovarian cysts during that time (mind you after my daughter was born i had my right ovary removed due to a large ovarian cyst 17mm). I had it removed in July 2011 thinking that it was causing the pain. I did not have a period the whole three years I had it. Here is a month later and I am still having the pain and I have a hemorrhagic cyst partially collapsed on my left ovary. I also have not had a period yet either.
Avatar f tn When the follicles are forming small cysts may be present in the normal ovary. These ovarian cysts which start during the normal function of menstrual cycle are called functional cysts which are of two types follicular cyst and corpus luteal cyst. Most of these cysts are harmless and disappear over a period of time. They are usually asymptomatic. In few patients cysts may cause menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain. In such cases medical help should be sought.
Avatar f tn This time though, the pain is in my left ovary DURING my period. It gets worse when I urinate and poop (sorry tmi) and it feels like a lot of pressure. Is this a cyst or just normal period problems. Thank you!
Avatar f tn My pain is normally the few days surrounding ovulation, sometimes right before at the beginning of my period, but never as bad as during ovulation. I get nausea in the mornings, I'm tired, my immunity system is weakened. I have major SI joint problems from carrying my daughter, so I don't know if they're causing extra pain in that area or not, I usually get a little swollen in the SI area during PMS time.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are extremely common - so do not worry. However, they can also be extremely painful and can grow extremely large. Each month, when a woman ovulates, small follicles form on the outer part of the ovary. These follicles look like little marbles almost through an ultrasound. Now, during your period - these follicles are, keyword here 'supposed' to break free with the lining of your period but for some women, they do not.
Avatar n tn Another possibility to look at would be your appendix, unless you have already gotten it out. Fibroids and ovarian cysts can cause a lot of pain. I would talk to your doctor about your concerns, but it does sound like it is the fibroid and cysts.
Avatar n tn What you have is dysmenorrhea. Severe pain before periods or during that time can be due to ovarian cysts, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, adenomyosis and fibroids. There are two kinds of cramping. Spasmodic cramping is caused by chemicals called prostaglandins. Generally your gynecologist will prescribe either contraceptive pills or some other tablets to overcome these symptoms. Congestive cramping causes the body to retain fluids and salt.
Avatar f tn Causes of menorrhagia are hormonal imbalance, fibroids(benign (non-cancerous) tumors that often occur in the uterus of women during their thirties or forties), uterine cysts(ovarian cysts) and polyps(cervical or endometrial. They are small, fragile, non cancerous growths in the cervix or uterus), some forms of cancer and certain medications. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn s been 4 months since i started my treatment, but the problem is that i have developed twice during this period ovarian cysts 3-5 cm, which cause me great pain. My doctor insists that visanne should prevent me from developing ovarian cysts, and every time this happens i have to take for 20 days secondary progesterone. So my question is should i look for somethng else? Maybe my thiroid or any other hormones that could cause ovarian cysts?
Avatar m tn Each case has to be looked at separately. If your doctor says your risk is that high then having it removed sooner rather than later is the best thing for you. I know there have been quite a few other women that have come through here who have had cysts successfully removed during their pregnancy. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you now. Good luck and I hope all goes well.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts suck because they can delay your period and make you think you're pregnant when youre not. When theyre large and they rupture, its hurts like heck and they usually occur around ovalation. Alot of women using fertility meds get little cysts and that is normal too.
Avatar f tn I also had a very pungent urine smell during a 24 hour period off and on 2 days ago. I thought I read something about puss in the cyst causing it. Are the chances pretty good that it is endometrioma based on my history? I don't want to be opened up here, if it is since I would prefer surgery with the endo specialist. But if this could be cancer, the endo specialist is not the one to go to.
1798025 tn?1333814468 It has been observed that women who use OC pills have fewer chances of ovarian cysts so birth control pills may be effective in decreasing the size of these cysts. Painful cysts or very large cysts are removed surgically.Endometriomas and PCOD are associated with decreased fertility. It is best to clarify your doubts with your gynecologist. Hope it helps. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn HI. How long has the cyst been there? When cysts are discovered the doctors will normally observe it for up to 3 months to see if it disappears itself, which a lot of cysts can. If it is causing severe pain, not resolving, or if it is suspicious in any way the cyst may be removed or drained. Most ovarian cysts are harmless.
Avatar n tn How large were your cysts and were they complex (have solid parts)? Most ovarian cancer presents with a large (over 5cm) mass on the ovary that is complex. Most women are at the begining of perimenopause at 40, so it is not uncommon to have some hormonal issues (especially post childbirth). Cysts definitely occur in the presence of hormonal imbalance. Did your doctor plan any follow-up for your cysts? If not, you should call the office and let them know about your symptoms.
Avatar m tn You should make an appointment as soon as possible to make sure everything is okay. I had ovarian cysts when I was a virgin at 13 years old and was rushed to the Emergency Room. I had to start taking birth control to regulate my periods and to prevent the cysts. Here's a link to possible reasons for missed periods: http://women.webmd.
Avatar f tn My doctor said that I developed some small ovarian cysts because I breastfed, and consequently didn't ovulate, for so long. This was four months ago, oh yeah we're also trying to conceive again, I am still having symptoms (pain during sex) though I'm pretty sure I had two of them burst, and still not pregnant. Has anyone else had this problem of developing ovarian cysts and have trouble conceiving after breastfeeding?
1200566 tn?1265381052 I think you should see another doctor if yours will not take your concerns seriously. I had symptoms like that and I had an ovarian cyst. Usually they go away on their own but some have to be removed, and that's what happened to me - a cyst burst and when I went to the dr. they saw another large one and went in and removed it. I still get smaller ones that do go away by themselves and when I have them my periods are much worse.
Avatar m tn 5 cm ovarian cyst, not a dermoid though. Dermoid cysts are benign (non-cancerous). But most other types of ovarian cysts are benign too. The average woman's lifetime risk of ovarian cancer is less than 2%. Like you, I was 49 years old. My gynecologist should have just removed the cyst or the one ovary but he removed everything (hysterectomy and oophorectomy). I have been suffering the many after-effects ever since (8 years). I aged 15 years by 4 months post-op.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the community. I am sorry you are dealing with this. The recent heavy period could possibly have been your body making up for the lighter ones. But it could also be related to the pelvic pain you've been having. With your history of ovarian cysts, it is possible you have another one. Thankfully, they usually go away on their own in 2 to 3 cycles. If the pain continues it would be a good idea to see a doctor.
