Ovarian cysts can cause bladder and bowel problems. In my case it was due to the size of the ovarian cyst and the pressure it was placing on other organs. In my daughter's case, the abdominal pain with the ovarian cyst was severe and caused nausea. By the time we discovered that an ovarian cyst was causing the pain, she had become constipated, which added to her irregularity and discomfort. I tend to get cysts all the time - ie kidney cysts, ovarian, fibrocystic breasts , cysts on my back. But the mri reported didn't suggest any special follow up to it and I am not sure what to think. I'd love some ideas. My kidneys could be inflamed due to the cysts and stones but don't know if that would affect the pelvic area... Thanks for any ideas.
If you are 40-50, then perimenopause is a possible cause. But, ovarian cysts at any age can change your hormones and cause these types of symptoms. Unfortunately, no two ovarian cysts show themselves in the same way. So, it is hard to say without having tests to rule out all other causes. In general the list of symptoms you describe sound like they could be related to menopause. But, if you are under 45, then that is less likely.

Even though you may not want any more children, you are too young for a hysterectomy. The bleeding can be stopped with help of haemostatic medicines and with use of hormones like progestins. Also a D&C may sometimes be necessary to stop the bleeding. The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.
I agree with Cindy that it is very unlikely to be Ovarian Cancer. However, young girls do get cysts. Actually cysts are very very common in young premenopausal women and 95 % benign. You may want to check the top right of this page; "Health Pages" . It has a lot of information about cysts . Of course we don't know if she even has cysts. And.. we're not Drs. here.. She really needs to be seen my by a Gyn. It could be one of many things.
Male factors causing infertility are varicocoele, ejaculatory disorders, radiation exposure and advanced age. Ovarian cysts like polycystic ovarian disease can cause infertility. Interestingly I also have liver cysts - called simple cysts. There may be no connection of course. But I have read somewhere that ovarian cysts can be connected to PPIs. I also have gastro polyps as a result of long term use of PPIs. To avoid the polyps you might want to consider getting off PPIs once you have the acid reflux under control - and then seriously change your diet to make sure you don't get reflux again (less animal fats, sugars, acid food etc.).
I had 5 lg ovarian cysts that my dr. (OBGYN fertility) wanted to surgically remove from my uterus. I had a friend tell me about CASTER OIL as a remedy for naturally removing the cysts by using "cold pressed caster oil compresses". I tried this and it worked !!!- it actually removed all 5 of my cysts!! Now my doctor is upset with me. Saying it's not safe. Really and surgery is?? People have use caster oil since Before Christ. Why is this not safe?

Each month, when a woman ovulates, small follicles form on the outer part of the ovary. These follicles look like little marbles almost through an ultrasound. Now, during your period - these follicles are, keyword here 'supposed' to break free with the lining of your period but for some women, they do not.

Cysts are very common in younger women, but you must ask the Dr. about the IUD /Mirena. I truly have no idea about that.
Ovarian cysts are common and almost always benign especially if you do not have a family history of ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, far too many women lose an ovary or ovaries for benign ovarian cysts causing permanent health problems and reduced quality of life.
