256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar n tn Polycystis Ovarian Syndrome was named for the appearance of the ovaries (which often are bumpy looking with lots of cysts on them), but it is certainly not the only symptom. It is important to understand that just because a woman have ovarian cysts doesn't mean she has PCOS. Blood work can help to diagnose PCOS. The cysts that appear with PCOS are a result of egg follicles not fully maturing or being released.
Avatar f tn I had pain on my right side and went for an ultrasound and they told me I have a few small cysts on the right and one had ruptured, but they were more concerned because I had one on my left ovary that is 2.8cm. I think this may have been caused by me abruptly stopping the pill a few months ago. My husband had a vasectomy so I figured why keep taking the pill, I didn't realize how much is would mess up my system.
1470552 tn?1300605907 It seems there is a connection between hypothyroidism and ovarian cysts. I saw an article online and it states that similarities between TSH and bhCG levels can stimulate ovarian cyst growth. The article can be found at http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/795877-overview Nearly at the very bottom of the page is a subheading "Causes" and I refered to the 3rd point. It is an interesting connection.
Avatar f tn Most ovarian cysts, even complex ones and even in post-menopausal women, are benign. Most cysts go away on their own. I wonder if these are indeed the same ones as seen on CT 2 years ago or possibly different ones. Imaging is not exact so they cannot always tell the type of cyst. However, I'm not sure which type of imaging (e.g., CT, MRI, ultrasound) is the best for viewing ovarian cysts. Do you have a copy of the report? If so, what does it say about the characteristics of the cysts?
409451 tn?1206896632 Ihave cysts on my ovarys and im in constant pain but its more painful when i have my period and then when i ovulate
Avatar f tn I had laparoscopy/hysteroscopy done feb last year for endometriosis. Well, they also discovered I had several severe ovarian cysts (they thought id need my right one removed), found 2 bilateral inguinal hernias, and a septum in my uterus. They said I couldnt get pregnant, wanted to schedule a hysterectomy (i was 21 btw), and I was devastated. 4 months later I found out I was pregnant.
Avatar f tn Have you been diagnosed with PCOS? This condition causes the acne, weight gain and cysts. It is important to follow up with your doctor to see if you have this condition. It may help you avoid future cysts if you get treatment now. Often, hormones can be out of balance without PCOS and it causes those same symptoms. Usually, birth control pills are recommended to try to get your hormones regulated in cases where your system is out of balance.
Avatar f tn Male factors causing infertility are varicocoele, ejaculatory disorders, radiation exposure and advanced age. Ovarian cysts like polycystic ovarian disease can cause infertility. For more queries and assistance it is advised to consult a gynecologist. You will need evaluation for above mentioned causes. Consult an infertility expert. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar f tn Do you have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and miss a lot of periods? Other than that, I have not heard of ovarian cysts increasing risk of uterine cancer (or ovarian cancer). Have you tried birth control pills to try to prevent the cysts and regulate your cycles?
Avatar m tn Erm I just got told hemaroid? I think! They're not doing anything apart from monitoring it but I can't explain the horrendous pain I'm in when I get one if my pains! It needs sorting but I don't know what todo next!
Avatar n tn In your case infection caused by the ruptured ovarian cyst effecting the peritoneum and other abdominal causes need to be ruled out. You need a comprehensive profile of investigations including an ultrasound and CT scan abdomen done. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn The manufacturers made a lot of deceptive false claims about the miracle cures it could provide, including curing ovarian cysts. I would say the "side effects" would be wasted money and disappointment that there is no miracle cure...at least not from this product.
Avatar n tn If you are 40-50, then perimenopause is a possible cause. But, ovarian cysts at any age can change your hormones and cause these types of symptoms. Unfortunately, no two ovarian cysts show themselves in the same way. So, it is hard to say without having tests to rule out all other causes. In general the list of symptoms you describe sound like they could be related to menopause. But, if you are under 45, then that is less likely.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts can cause bladder and bowel problems. In my case it was due to the size of the ovarian cyst and the pressure it was placing on other organs. In my daughter's case, the abdominal pain with the ovarian cyst was severe and caused nausea. By the time we discovered that an ovarian cyst was causing the pain, she had become constipated, which added to her irregularity and discomfort. Like MarieMichele, before my ovarian cyst was removed, I had to eat very small amounts.
Avatar f tn Its actually 2 diff things, one causes symtoms ie weight gain, hair growth in unwanted place, spots and of course cysts infertility and lack of a proper monthly cycle, whereas polycystic ovaries without the sydrome do not give you symtoms.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. Many years ago I was diagnosed with multiple ovarian cysts, and have been monitoring them since. I recently had a scan and they were confirmed as still there (I cannot remember exactly what the report said, but my doctor didn't seem concerned at all). For almost a year now, and getting progressively worse in recent months, I have been having mid to upper back ache and discomfort, which feels like bone weakness.
Avatar f tn I have been tested and treated for things all the way from a yeast infection to a P.I.D. The pain just stays. I have been told that it could be small ovarian cysts that will just go away on their own. I'm worried. My boyfriend and I are considering trying for a baby possibly next year..Im worried that something is wrong. I have my annual exam in April and I will bring this up AGAIN... but I was hoping that someone may have some insight.
Avatar n tn If the pain and chills continue, or if she develops a fever she needs to be evaluated by a gynecologist for ultrasound. Ovarian cysts are usually benign growths and are not as uncommon as some people think. The only thing that causes ovarian cysts to become an emergency if they are large, if it is causing the ovary to twist, or if an infection develops. However, I believe that the cause of your wife's discomfort if from a rupturing ovarian cyst. I hope she gets to feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn I had an MRI for checking my kidney stones and cysts and it said for the pelvic part. There was a large fibroid, 2 benign ovarian cysts but the last line that concerned me was 'trace pelvic free fluid not expected for patient's age'. I'm 62 I am not sure what this mean. I tend to get cysts all the time - ie kidney cysts, ovarian, fibrocystic breasts , cysts on my back. But the mri reported didn't suggest any special follow up to it and I am not sure what to think.
Avatar f tn Could my recurrence of Ovarian cancer be attributed to my taking Evista for a year? I had ovarian cancer 15 years ago and after surgery and chemo, and a "second look" surgery with multiple biopsies was considered cured.I had a complete hysterectomy and the cancer seemed to be contained in my left ovary. Last winter I found a lump in my left groin which was biopsied and diagnosed as ovarian malignancy.
Avatar f tn t know what effects Novasure (or any other type of endometrial ablation) can have on ovarian cysts. But ablation is associated with long-term problems especially when done on women under age 46. I recall a woman saying that a doctor at a top-notch hospital told her that ablation should not be done on women under age 50 because of the long-term problems. The ovaries, uterus and tubes work as a unit.
Avatar n tn That causes a mild elevation in your CA 125. It also causes pelvic pain and over time you can develop cysts of endometriosis called endometriomas. Your doctor is trying to suppress the growth of endometriosis with medication. Other meds that are commonly used include the birth control pill and lupron shots.
Avatar f tn Hello Yvonne, I have been to the specialist today and they have informed me that they are dermoid cysts. They are 10cm and 11cm and because of my age and not having any children they want to operate as soon as possible. Apparently it's quite rare to have them on both at the same time. They said they will try and save the ovaries but it is unlikely.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am hoping that someone has had some experience with ovarian cysts and the use of birth control (nuva ring) to prevent ovulation. My doctor started me on the nuva ring in hopes that it would help with the pain from bilateral ovarian simple cysts that measure 5cm and 4.2 cm. If anyone has experience with this type of treatment please respond to the following questions. Does birth control help with the pain from ovarian cysts? Does using birth control help ressolve the existing cysts?
