Avatar n tn Sometimes, doctors watch and wait smaller cysts and sometimes they choose to operate. Still, most cysts (even larger and complex ones) turn out to be benign.
Avatar f tn Likely left oophoropexy. HUH? What does the last statement mean? I get cysts all the time, so I understand that part...I would have asked the doctor, but she didn't mention any of that. I just got a copy of my CT scan results today and found this...

551683 tn?1220656108 The symptoms you are describing are very much in line with ovarian cysts. Do you know what size or type of cysts you have? Surgery for cysts depends on size, type and whether you are in pain. In many cases if surgery is required it can be done laporascopically. Don't ignore the cysts. You really should have a gyn dealing with them. Take a look at the health pages attached to the ovarian cyst forum. There is some good information on types of cysts that you might be helpful.
Avatar n tn Just as most ovarian cysts are benign so are most para-ovarian cysts. From what I have read, they don't usually need intervention / surgery. They look for the presence of free fluid (in the pelvis) as one of the traits that may be indicative of cancer. The fact that there is "no free fluid" is good. Hopefully, your doctor will explain this to you.
Avatar m tn My girlfriend went to the doctor on tuesday and they did an ultrasound that showed what the doctor called fluidy mass behind one of her ovaries. She is 28 and has of late been having issues with getting sick after she eats, either vomiting or diaherrea. Her family doctor originally diagnosed her as having a mild case of IBS. She went to see her Gynocologist for her routine Pap which came back clean but she discussed her IBS with him and he suggested she come back for the ultrasound.
Avatar f tn I went and got a CT scan of my Abdomen and Pelvis, and my doctor said I have a 6mm cyst on my liver and cysts in my ovaries and tubes and I should have the ovaries and tubes removed. I read the report and it says cannot see clearly enough but there is "Enhancement" in POSSIBLY my Ovaries, right larger then left. There small amount of pelvic fluid, and could be other etiologies( disease?) My questions are, WHAT IS ENHANCEMENT, can it mean a tumor?
Avatar n tn I have one ovary that has a small cyst 22x21x28. the left ovary is has a large mass measuring 53x82x74...what does that mean. could it be ovarian cancer.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am hoping that someone has had some experience with ovarian cysts and the use of birth control (nuva ring) to prevent ovulation. My doctor started me on the nuva ring in hopes that it would help with the pain from bilateral ovarian simple cysts that measure 5cm and 4.2 cm. If anyone has experience with this type of treatment please respond to the following questions. Does birth control help with the pain from ovarian cysts? Does using birth control help ressolve the existing cysts?
Avatar f tn Finally got to painful and had to go to the ER. They did blood work and an ultrasound, which in the ER the said I had a right ovarian cyst(bleeding). Didn't say much more than try to keep your ovaries. Finally got into the GYN and he said almost nothing about the cyst I had to ask about it. He talked more about the enlarged uterus. Did an exam and then said I have three options: nothing, wait it out, or go in and take a look.
Avatar n tn I am 48 and have no idea what this could mean. maybe someone has some information on this .
Avatar f tn What happened with your cysts?
Avatar f tn I had an MRI for checking my kidney stones and cysts and it said for the pelvic part. There was a large fibroid, 2 benign ovarian cysts but the last line that concerned me was 'trace pelvic free fluid not expected for patient's age'. I'm 62 I am not sure what this mean. I tend to get cysts all the time - ie kidney cysts, ovarian, fibrocystic breasts , cysts on my back. But the mri reported didn't suggest any special follow up to it and I am not sure what to think.
Avatar f tn 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Most women have several benign ovarian cysts in a life time. Uterine cancer and ovarian are not related which is weird. It is good they are checking. It may all turn out to be benign endometriosis. In the old days if you were past child bearing years they would do a hysterectomy. Now they know how important ovaries are to a woman's over all health and do not take them. Just because they test for cancer does not mean everyone has it.
1713238 tn?1308523792 i went to the doctors several times and now they are say it is due to my ovarian cyst going away but before they said the bleedin was happening cause it was growing so i dont trust docotrs very well
Avatar n tn I ended up taking 4 pregnancy test and all were negative, so we thought I might have an ectopic pregnancy, so I went and took an ultrasound and found out that I have a cyst on my ovaries and fibroids on my uterus and all they prescribed me was birth control pills with progesterone. I will start taking them Sun. but I still have not had a period, could something else be wrong...
655897 tn?1328018445 I read the infromation in the box and it said that ectopic or ovarian cysts can give a misleading result. Does that mean they could cause a false positive or a false negative? Do ovarian cysts produce HCG? I thought they only produced progesterone? I am confused. I really hope my level doubles tomorrow..it is so hard to wait. By the way, I forgot to mention that I know that I have three cysts on each ovary which is why I am concerned with a false positive.
Avatar m tn I had a vaginal ultrasound for a simple ovarian cyst my gynecologist is monitoring since last november 2017. It is currently 5.5 x 5.1 x 5.1 cm. She says its simple and isn't too worried but i have terrible back pain so im getting it removed in 3 weeks. In the vaginal ultrasound they also noticed something abnormal in my uterus. The lower uterine segment to be exact. What could that be??A uterine cyst? Does cystic mean cysts?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much, old_before_my_time, this is eases my mind greatly. I know doctors must always be in the mode of protecting themselves from an incorrect decision, but we're the ones who have to live with that decision. What I hate is that they are so vague and recommend not looking on the web for answers, right from the start. Most people can read and understand! Even medical language can be deciphered, so what are they worried about. It's our bodies!
Avatar n tn Hi, I agree with both posts above..You may want to check out the top right of this page. There is a section called "Health Pages" and it has all sorts of good information re. Ovarian cysts.. They are really very common in younger women and many times just dissolve on their own. Usually they are just monitored for a few months. But, I know it's scary just the same. Please try not to worry and keep us posted ( and the gals are right also about the CA-125..
