Avatar f tn Turns out I have ovarian cysts, 3 or 4 - the largest being 4.9cm and an enlarged ovary. However, she says my weight is nothing to do with the cysts and that I should go on a diet and do plenty of exercise - if its normal weight it will come off, if its not, it won't! Urghhhhh! What do I have to do to get her to realise that this weight gain is NOT normal for me regardless of the fact that I've just hit 41! Any suggestions anyone?
Avatar f tn Thankyou, I did not realise my ideal body weight was 120 lbs, so i will take necessary action to lower my weight, and see if my pain dissappears.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, I cannot comment on anything but the ovarian cysts. Cysts are very common and most resolve on their own. If yours are not large (over 7 cm or so) and you do not have a predisposition for / family history of ovarian cancer, then they can usually be monitored via periodic ultrasound.
Avatar f tn Have you been diagnosed with PCOS? This condition causes the acne, weight gain and cysts. It is important to follow up with your doctor to see if you have this condition. It may help you avoid future cysts if you get treatment now. Often, hormones can be out of balance without PCOS and it causes those same symptoms. Usually, birth control pills are recommended to try to get your hormones regulated in cases where your system is out of balance.
Avatar n tn Common things being common, fibroids, which are benign muscle growths of the wall of the uterus, can give you pain and heavy bleeding. Ovarian cysts can be related to ovulation, or benign growths, endometriosis and so on. To sort that out, usually repeat scans are obtained over 3 to 6 months to see dynamically how the cysts come and go. Depending on your age, birth contorl pills are commonly tried to control heavy bleeding and pain.
Avatar f tn So I have looked up symptoms of ovarian cysts and one that caught my eye was weight gain. Has anyone ever gained weight because of cysts? I can not seem to lose any weight. I wonder if the cysts are causing this?
Avatar n tn I have, however, recently been having very bad back pain and weight gain. My doctor said that the cysts are not the cause of this but these posts indicate that the cysts may cause these symptoms. Should I get the cysts out and if so, the ovaries too? I am 49 and can't have kids. What awaits me if I get the cysts and ovaries out. Will menopause be any worse than the lower back pain with the cysts? Thanks for any help.
Avatar f tn 7cms No fibroid... Both ovaries are prominent with small 3-4mm cysts.. And right ovary volume 11.1ml and left ovary vol 10.5ml... missed last month period... What you suggest?
Avatar f tn I work out regularly and I eat well. I had noticed weight gain over the last few months but I attested it to stress and lack of sleep. I had been having sharp pains once a month that would last a couple days but I knew nothing of cysts so I didn't think it was the problem.. But now I'm thinking I've been having rupturing cysts since May. But I'm now 125lbs and I just feel pregnant! I can't duck in the swelling!
Avatar f tn I have gained around 10 lbs in the past month, my stomach is bloated, breasts are swollen, cravings, ovary pain, frequent urination, irritability, vomiting, frequent migraines............ I have had problems with ovarian cysts before and now only have 1 ovary. What is wrong with me??
1046985 tn?1305117048 In the last 6 months since I've had ovarian cysts, I have been putting on weight, with no actual change in my diet. This alone is very depressing, without all the pain and everything else that comes with this condition. My job requires me to be walking all day, around a 2000 metre furniture store, where I can easily rack up 7000 steps on my pedometer.
Avatar f tn I went to see and endocrinologist because my last reading was 4.68 and I keep having issues with ovarian cysts. My GYN wanted to make sure it was not PCOS because my sister has it. My other sister is hypothyroid and she is active and states that she feels awful when her TSH is greater than 2. I am just wondering if some are more sensitive to hormone fluctuations than others? I have never had an issue with ovarian cysts or fatigue before. This is not me...
Avatar f tn what is the largest ovarian cysts reported and can it make you look pregnant... sassyk.
Avatar f tn My Breast Doctor says it takes two years and several Specialist on average to be diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. I kept saying I was losing weight and throwing up and having diaphragm spasms. They even took my gall bladder out. Finally I just went it the GP and said something is terribly wrong I do not know what but something is wrong. They did an ultrasound and I was full of Cancer. They could tell from the ultrasound how bad it was. I was in surgery in days.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 11yrs old with an ovarian cysts of 4.4cm... Her testosterone levels are high, her glucose levels are high.. her blood level has dropped to a 9... What should I do... The first doctor said she was ok.. moths after I took her back to the second doctor which sent her to do more test which came up with the results of the results I mentioned earlier... But she was not clear on how to treat her.. please what should I do....
Avatar f tn I suffed from ovarian cysts since I was 14.. I'm 34 now and have just been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome.. though I haven't had a cyst that has caused me pain or discomfort in years.. The best thing to help combat and minimize the occurrence and severity of an ovarian cyst I found was exercise!! The release of serotonin somehow helps.. but I've become an avid Zumba goer and not only did it keep the cysts at bay, but it's a lot of fun..
Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
Avatar n tn Hi there. It is common to have breast pain with ovarian cysts and irregular periods. As well, the body tends to bloat so that might be contributing to your weight problem. I gained approximately 10 lbs. with mine. I encourage you to come on over to the Ovarian Cysts form where you can get lots of help as you go through your journey. Please repost over there and do let us know more info about the type of cyst you have.
Avatar f tn First off 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Most women with Ovarian Cancer, not all, are genetically predisposed with the BRCA mutation. I have BRCA. I had a grandmother and a aunt with ovarian cancer in their 50's. Ovarian cysts look a certain way on a ultrasound. At your age with no BRCA you have less than 1% of ovarian cancer. What is your doctor telling you? They saw my ultra sound and I was at the oncologist the next day. Many cysts go away on their own. Are you having symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi I’m 22 and have two children . I have frequent big ovarian cysts I have had cystectomys 3 times in the past 3 years. They are extremely painful and I still have no answer as to why I get them so frequent and how can I help preventing them . I have tried many different birth controls and I went even with out. I have not had a period in a long time like a year not at all .
Avatar f tn Do you know how large the cysts are in her uterus and ovary? Most doctors will want to remove ovarian cysts after they grow over 5 cm (about 2 inches) in size because if they burst it will hurt like crazy or the weight of one can cause the fallopian tube to twist. They can't make any big decisions until they check it out more thoroughly. Some women are just prone to developing cysts and it's not always malignant. Let us know how things go for her and welcome to the community.
Avatar f tn 2 years back I was told that I have ovarian cysts (the doctor say me once, and told me to go to a specialist, but w/o insurance I could not afford it) The cysts keep reoccurring (or are not going away), and are getting more and more painful. I I have varying amounts of pain day-to-day, ranging from my pelvis, abdomen, lower back, and then down my thighs (when it's really bad). It hurts to cough, sometimes pee, have sex, and walk (when it's really bad).
Avatar n tn A number of conditions, including endometriosis and ovarian cysts as well as some other benign conditions, can cause an elevated result (false positive).
Avatar n tn I am not over weight, 42 years old and do have a family history of ovarian cancer on mothers side but my mother did not have ovarian cancer - she had a full hysterectomy at age 40. Should I go ahead and have my ovary removed?
Avatar f tn On my fourth month my menstrual cycle was on time but I still gained weight. My TVS showed that my cysts persist and they remain the same size, no improvement at all, my doc said it's very likely that I won't be able to lose weight and that I should have a child ASAP. But neither I nor my husband plan on having a baby so soon, not before another year and a half or so. My question is, am I susceptible to complications when I bear a child?
Avatar f tn t even look at your incision and just blew you off about being bloated and pain is NOT RIGHT!! It makes me so mad when doctors do this! If I were you, I would seek that advice of another gynecologist. It is apparent that this doctor is not really interested in what you have to say. Please don't ignore your symptoms. It is possible that you have another cyst or something else going on. Also, no one knows you body better than you do. If you think something is wrong, it probably is.
