Avatar n tn m 46 and just had a hysterectomy for bilaterial ovarian cysts. I actually had 3 cysts and all were benign. Remember 95% of all cysts are benign. Best wishes to your friend.
483623 tn?1256093569 I have Several tumors off of my right ovary and a complex cyst within each ovary. I usually see every one posting about one cyst or one tumor, has any one ever had several? Does this increase the risk for cancer if there are several? I am 40 and have never had a cyst or a tumor before. Any comments would be great.....
Avatar f tn What are the symptoms of ovarian cysts and tumors? Often, ovarian cysts don't cause any symptoms. You may not realize you have one until you visit your health care provider for a routine pelvic exam. Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. If you have any of the symptoms below, it's important to have them checked out. That's because they can also be symptoms of ovarian tumors. Ovarian cancer often spreads before it is detected.
Avatar f tn In this retrospective study, the serum CA19-9, CA125 and CP2 levels of 273 hospitalized patients with ovarian tumors of either mucinous or non-mucinous type were analyzed. RESULTS: (1) CA19-9 had the biggest area under curve (AUC) in mucinous tumors followed with CA125 while CA125 and CP2 had bigger AUC in non-mucinous tumor. (2) For the diagnosis of mucinous tumors, CA19-9 and CA125 combination showed a greatly increased sensitivity compared with CA19-9 or CA125 alone (93.8% versus 75.
Avatar f tn He removed the right ovary along with the cysts and the right fallopian tube. During the surgery he made an initial diagnosis of endometriosis and burned off some of the implants that he found. (He showed me the pictures). One of the cysts ruptured during removal. The pathology came back as atypical proliferative borderline endometrioid tumor, and a consult with Johns Hopkins pathology confirmed the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Up to 14% of women that have gone through menopause get cysts. There is a wide range of normal for size of ovaries. Ovarian cancer is hard to predict and size of ovaries is not used to do so. But what prompted this question? Are you having issues with your ovaries? Or did you have a concerning exam?
Avatar f tn Also the reason for the exam is noted as lesion of ovary. Are the terms cysts, tumors and lesions used interchangeably? I have been referred to an ob/gyn. Also I looked over my previous tests from an unrelated test noted bilateral ovarian cysts and acute cystitis with hematuria. Thoughts? I like to advocate for my health. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn I am 37 yrs old never had children and have been diagnoised on ultasound with two small (2.8 cm and 1cm)complex cysts on my right ovary and one 1cm complex cyst on my left ovary. I have not had a period in over one year and am in some pain with other various symptoms. My GYN took blood yesterday for four tumor markers but I do not know results yet. If the marker test results are negative, she wants to do laproscopic surgery and take biopsies of these cysts to identify them.
Avatar f tn I am sorry you have to go threw this, it is very stressfull to have this hanging over your head. Keep in mind most cysts are benign!! My wife was recently Dx with granulosa Cell cancer( GCT) Jan 2010 and I know what it is like to not know the next step will be. Here is an overview. Tests like sonograms, Cat scans and MRI's along with blood tests like CA125, Inhibin A&B, MIS and CEA are just used as a guides for the Dr's to help assist in making a diagnoses(Dx).
Avatar f tn I am 49 and have a long history of simple ovarian cysts which cause a lot of pain. I had one of these in early May. When I went back for another vaginal ultrasound 6 weeks later, the cyst on the right was gone, but there was now a 4.7 cm, irregularly shaped septated cyst on the left ovary. I am having another ultrasound tomorrow, but am very worried because I have been experiencing almost all of the typical symptoms of oc. I need honest insight into the situation. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Two conditions that sometimes cause repeated cysts are PCOS or borderline ovarian tumors. Are you having your surgeries and pathology at at large hospital or a small community one? Borderline ovarian tumors are hard to diagnose because they have benign and borderline sections in the same tumor. Larger university hospitals and cancer centers have a better time of correctly diagnosing these types of tumors. They are usually cured with surgery, but are notorious for recurring.
Avatar f tn A sonogram will show if there are cysts/masses/tumors on your ovaries...and if they do say tumors, it does not mean malignancy. You are entering the menopausal age of your life, there could be numerous different things causing you to bleed. The signs of ovarian cancer can include: change in bowel and urinary patterns heartburn feeling of fullness bloating There is an old saying, don't waste a good panic....you are worrying about something that you might not even have.
Avatar m tn Breast cysts are usually easily defined by mammogram or ultrasound. Ovarian cysts are not related to breast cysts or to cysts in any other part of the body. Regards ....
Avatar f tn If abdominal pain or signs of peritonitis are localised in the left lower quadrant, the suspicion is increased for such conditions as colitis, diverticulitis, ureteral colic or pain due to ovarian cysts or pelvic inflammatory disease. Examples of tumors in the left lower quadrant include colon cancer or ovarian tumor. You should check in with your doc as this has been ongoing for a week.
Avatar f tn Are there any masses, tumors or cysts on or near your ovaries, in your pelvic region? Ovarian cancer would produce tumors, not just fluid. There are many reasons for finding fluid, speak to a doctor not a nurse that does not specialize in this area.
Avatar f tn The birth control is to shrink the cysts. (Did the doctor say cysts or tumors? There's a difference.) You really don't cut out an ovarian cyst if it is fluid filled, you either try to aspirate the fluid with a needle or else to shrink it by going on birth-control pills. It's a lot better to go on the pill and shrink them than to remove the ovaries, so I'd be glad the doctors are saying that is a choice.
Avatar f tn I went to the hospital. Baby is fine but I have ovarian cysts and benign tumors on my uterus. I'm happy the baby is OK but terrified.
Avatar f tn So, I think that your doctor would tell you if cancer was a concern but cysts are different than cancer tumors. And if he is worried, he/she would do a cancer marker test, CA125 test. It's a blood test and if you are over a certain number, there is ovarian cancer present. My mother in law died of ovarian cancer. That is the other thing, the statistics are on your side. Young women rarely have this type of cancer.
Avatar n tn A transvaginal ultrasound (TV) is the most valuable diagnostic study in the evaluation of an adnexal or pelvic mass/suspicious cysts. Cysts, hemorrhagic cysts, endometriomas, and dermoids have a high predictive diagnosis via TV ultrasound. An MRI is usually the next test that should be given as they are more precise when read by the right radiologist.

Avatar m tn I had a laproscopic procedure to remove both cysts and during the procedure one of the cysts ruptured. The doctor did no suspect it was a tumor so he did not do anything special (no wash, etc). I healed from the surgery fine and thought all was well until I got the path report back, which indicated that the cyst that ruptured was actually a borderline mucinous tumor.
Avatar n tn 11 months later they have found another small mass on her left ovary and our worries are going through another surgery and losing more ovarian tissue and of course cancer. She has had so many other small problems and it just makes me wonder if they are all related in some way. Below is a list of my questions and her symptoms. Why is this recurring? Do we have to worry about cancer? Are her risks higher for ovarian cancer?
Avatar n tn Some medications can cause elevations in HCG, as can some cysts and tumors (especially ovarian tumors). Also, it can be elevated in some postmenopausal women.
Avatar n tn 99% of ovarian cysts, masses, and tumors are benign. The symptoms for cancer are the same for benign cysts, too.
1364266 tn?1292973465 I am sorry you have to go threw this it is very stressfull to have this hanging over your head especially at such a young age, Keep in mind most cysts are benign!! Since your transvaginal sonogram(TV) showed a mass on your ovary warrants a very thourough work up to rule out any other potential issues. Avatar f tn My OBGYN is repeating the u/s in one week, and has sent me for CA125. I have a history of simple cysts that have always dissolved on their own. Never this size though, and never complex. I am terrified that this is a malignant process. I am comfortable with my Dr's course of action, but am looking for some answers on the likelihood of this being malignant. Thank you in advance.
