Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can certainly cause hip and thigh pain. I have experienced both with my cysts. Do you know what size the cysts are? Often simple functional cysts will resolve themselves, but because you are in perimenopause and not experiencing regular periods, I am not sure. In most cases, ovarian cysts are benign, but larger cysts, complex cysts or ones that are causing pain may need to be removed.
Avatar f tn Have you hand a transvaginal ultrasound? Ovarian cysts can cause lots of pain for some people and others don't even know they have one. They can come and go with a womans monthly cycle. Sometimes people have cysts that rupture and those can wreak havoc with your system. I think I would start with a gyn appt and request a transvaginal ultrasound.
Avatar f tn I have pain in the lower right side up to my back around my kiddney area and down into my inner thigh and with pain meds I am still hurting. Should I wait or get a third opion?

1282335 tn?1275352615 Yep, you can definitely have thigh pain with an ovarian cyst. Have you seen your gynecologist yet? How big and what kind is your cyst? Taking Advil may help with the pain.
Avatar n tn I was just wondering if anyone else had had this type of experience. Cyst is small but I am having symptoms, constant cramping, pain on right side and upper right thigh(although I'm not sure why my thigh is hurting). So I'm guessing she will want to take it out and since waiting and watching didn't really work out so well for me in the past I will probably let her! Again thanks for your quick response. Any responses are very greatly appreciated!
Avatar n tn I thought ok just cramps however the pain has continued after the normal cramps would have gone away it is now a radiating pain that is in my thigh and lower back seems to feel like someone is stabbing me -- any suggestions I am thinking it may be another cyst but am wondering if it might be something else
Avatar f tn I am 45 years of age, healthy. About 6 months ago I noticed sudden period pain and bright red bleeding at period time. Up to then very little pain or bleeding as have coil. Breasts tender and in last few months constant bloating, dragging sensation pelvis, feel like I.can feel my ovaries and full of gas. Numbness in hands in morning, pain in right thigh, insomnia. Going for pelvic ultrasound in ten days. Concerned.
Avatar f tn It might be that you are bleeding internally and that it caused infection. I've had cysts that ruptured on its own and the worst pain lasted about 48 hours and then it went away again. The times that the pain didn't go away, were when there was internal bleeding or leaking of fluid from the cyst into the abdominal cavity. This made me feel sick, nauseous, my tummy was swollen and I also had referred pain to my leg and neck.
Avatar f tn You find more symptoms like frequent urination, pressure, pain and fullness. The burning pain sounds more like a rupture. You should be sure to get a transvaginal ultrasound to check your ovaries and determine if you have a cyst. I hope you feel better soon!
1503875 tn?1290902087 Thanks so much for your helpful information. I do believe that there must have been a bit of fluid because my abdomen was so bloated on the night of the rupture. It is still a bit bloated and I have a lot of abdominal gas, which I don't know is normal, accompanied with back pain (for 3 months) and thigh pain since Monday. I am going to see a gynecologist soon ( I don't have one yet).
1068834 tn?1294009992 I am 29 years old and I have one child (who is 9). In July of 2009 I began to experience a sharp squeezing pain during orgasm (lower left pelvic area). After about a month I began dealing with dull, achy pain in my lower back. At first I thought that I might be pregnant; becasue I had other symptoms that reminded me of early pregnancy with my son. After starting my period only one day later than expected I quickly shrugged off the possibility of pregnancy.
Avatar n tn My doctor started me on the nuva ring in hopes that it would help with the pain from bilateral ovarian simple cysts that measure 5cm and 4.2 cm. If anyone has experience with this type of treatment please respond to the following questions. Does birth control help with the pain from ovarian cysts? Does using birth control help ressolve the existing cysts? How long does it take for birth control to show progress in pain and resolution of ovarian cysts?
Avatar n tn m 37, 4 kids, have been having some crazy symptoms and have been looking at so much info online about of fibroids, ovarian cysts, and ovarian cancer. All of these seem to have very similar symptoms. Obviously,I should just go to the doctor, but I'm worried and would like to know anyone elses opinion on this. Ex : Is there any specific symptom out there that I'll know is a huge red flag for cancer?
Avatar f tn My right side of my abdomen was killing me a week later I ended up in the er with severe pain and bleeding. An inner and outer US showed a 6.8cm separated cystic structure and ovarian lesion. I was told to followup with my OBGYN. Which I did. She said to wait 6-8 weeks and do a repeat US. Well I was referred to a new dr. since my old obgyn retired from that practice. The new dr. has been much more sympathetic. I saw her last friday 1/8 and she ordered more blood tests (Ca-125, Ova-1, Estradiol.
Avatar n tn I am having the similar symptoms -- major pain in lower back and left hip and thigh. I have had cysts for over 30 years now, but only one other time has the pain been as bad as it is now. The back/hip/thigh pain has been going on for about 6 weeks, but now I am also getting some pain in my left lower abdomen . I am 56 years old and have not yet successly completed menopause (1 period in each of the last 2 years). Anyway, I finally have an ultrasound scheduled and am a little anxious.
Avatar n tn What you are describing can be symptoms for many things. These can include ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. Since it is pretty rare for women your age to have ovarian cancer and since more than 95% of all cysts are benign let's asssume you are dealing with a cyst. I had all the symptoms you are describing and had benign cysts. You should check out the health pages (top right) and look at the listing for types of cysts and symptoms.
Avatar m tn ve been experiencing severe right side groin pain, lower back pain and pain going down the inner part of my upper thigh. My husband took me to the ER about 2 months ago and they said that I "probably" had a cyst that ruptured. ll continued to have pretty bad pain. I finally went to the doctors about 3 months into it and they scheduled a pelvic ultrasound which showed multiple (6-8) ovarian cysts and a lot of free flowing fluid in that area. That was the week before Christmas.
Avatar n tn What is the difference between ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. I haven't had a period for 3 months now and I have a sharp pain in my lower right side, as well as back pain, especially in the mornings. once in a while i am off balance when walking. i am bloated, and a lot of times i don't have an appetite.
Avatar f tn I get abdominal pain, back pain, pain on my thighs, bloating and nausea. However, what really affects my daily life is the fatigue. I am always very tired, I feel like everything aches and just want to sleep. I work but lack the energy to go through an entire day without feeling I need to sleep! Is anyone else experiencing fatigue... similar symptoms?
Avatar f tn Hopefully I can get some help. I was in the ER yesterday for extreme pelvic pain, nausea, and shooting pains down my hips to my feet. I made the "mistake" of telling the ER doctor that I was also bleeding (two weeks after my period ended). This doctor (who was arrogant and dismissive from the get-go) said that pain with menstruation is normal. I explained that I shouldn't be bleeding right now and he said I probably need a different birth control.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can be benign or malignant but the majority (over 90%) are benign. A lot depends on your age and what type of cyst it is - functional, dermoid, etc. Your doctor hopefully will let you know if there is anything to be concerned about. You can google "ovarian cysts" to get more information so you know what questions to ask at your appointment. Please let us know how it goes.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing weight gain and a large belly with slight cramping and hip and thigh pain. I see the Doc today to discuss possibly removing the right ovary and tube. Although she does not think it is causing my symptoms, I certainly do because I had no symptoms, large belly or weight gain prior to the bleed in January, Soooo... I was also given a blood test called CA-125 to screen for ovarian cancer.
1185309 tn?1269095271 Hello Trish. I am so sorry to hear that you are scared and about the pain you are going through. I don't know much about Ovarian Cysts but, if you are in that much pain and are scared like you are then the best thing to do is to go back for another visit with your doctor. Leave nothing out. Tell them everything you're experiencing. Find out what's going on and keep us posted on it. Best of luck.
