Common Questions and Answers about Ovarian cysts and spotting

Avatar n tn Hi, I have a couple of questions about ovarian cyst symptoms. Do ovarian cysts cause mid cycle spotting and lower back pain? And if so how common are these symptoms?
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are very common and affect mainly women in their 30s and 40s. Women who are past menopause (ages 50-70) and have ovarian cysts have a higher risk of having ovarian cancer. The only way to diagnose ovarian cancer is looking at the cells under a microscope. There are tumour markers the doctors can test for called CA-125 and CA19-9 (both are blood tests) however numbers can be higher due to inflammation.
Avatar f tn I have had my tubes tied for about a year and a half and started on birth control about 4 months later due to heavy periods. I then started with heavy cramping and a lot of spotting so in Oct I had and d&c and they removed some scar tissue and small cysts. I was told to continue the bc and the bleeding should be better. I have started with the heavy cramping and spotting again. I bleed light to moderate most mornings and cramp during. I bleed after sex and cramp hard.
Avatar n tn Interesting. I have those same symptoms just started going to the bathriom more this week though. I have had cysts before but they were painful, nothing like what I'm feeling now. And the only time I have tender breasts is right befor or when my AF is on the way. Then the cramping I feel is not painful, just dull and of and on. The cysts didn't change my cycle much and maybe pushed it back a few days but always came heavy for the first 3 1/2 days then tapers off.
10704596 tn?1412127746 I've been having ncreasing pelvic pain and dark spotting and had an embolization and myomectomy. here is a summary of my ultrasound: PELVIC AND TRANVAGINAL ULTRASOUND : Clinical indeication: 8 months of increasing pelvic pain with menses and irregular menses with dark spotting an history of embolization previously (and myomectomy). Avatar f tn I have pcos (policystic ovarian syndrome) which is exactly what it sounds like. Many recurring and different cysts on your ovaries. Yes it is very possible for them to stop your period I always had that problem. Don't be scared though. Of course you could be pregnant but if you have a cyst it could be normal to miss your period. Cysts are fairly normal and most women will have one at some point or another.
Avatar n tn At month 27 on Tamoxifen, I had an ultrasound that shows a lickening of the uterean wall and 3 complex ovarian cysts. My Dr. is doing a biopsy but my question is why would my periods AND the hot flashes go away completely? I would have thought that if my period stopped my hot flashes would get worse not better. Does this indicate Endometrial cancer? This discussion is related to Tamoxifen and endometriosis.
Avatar n tn t had period since 2008 but every now and then get spotting but not heavy. Fallopiantube stuck on bowel 3 years ago and tube removed right side. I've had pain on left side and ultrasound said 24mm x 20mm x 20mm avascular solid looking lesion. No adnexal mass, had ovarian cancer tests and came back ok. Getting a lapascopy in October, should I be worried as Im anxious about what this lesion is. The statement from ultrasound said small mass lesion, anyone else had this.
Avatar f tn I went to the hospital. Baby is fine but I have ovarian cysts and benign tumors on my uterus. I'm happy the baby is OK but terrified.
Avatar m tn Breast cysts are usually easily defined by mammogram or ultrasound. Ovarian cysts are not related to breast cysts or to cysts in any other part of the body. Regards ....
Avatar f tn What are the symptoms of ovarian cysts and tumors? Often, ovarian cysts don't cause any symptoms. You may not realize you have one until you visit your health care provider for a routine pelvic exam. Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. If you have any of the symptoms below, it's important to have them checked out. That's because they can also be symptoms of ovarian tumors. Ovarian cancer often spreads before it is detected.
Avatar n tn I have been researching ovarian cysts heavily, and am trying to figure out what I should do next.
Avatar f tn I also have IBS. Normal pap results less than a year ago. I do have a history of ovarian cysts, had one removed years past. Many thanks.

Avatar f tn I have had a lot of pain in my pelvis (dull ache) as well as constipation, spotting ALL the time, tender breasts and fatigue. I am 35, have 2 children (I am done in that department, thankfully)! I have NEVER had any "female" problems. I have always had regular periods, got pregnant easily and had realtively easy labor/delivery..........so all of this kinda freaks me out. Anyone out there going through something similar or have any insight for me? Thank you!!
543435 tn?1282242679 Had follow up CT scan and the complex cysts is still there (now with this rim enhanced stuff??????) and it is 2cm. I have not had any unusual pain however I have had dark brown spotting for one week prior to my periods for the last 5 months. So this past Saturday (7 days prior to when I should start) the spotting started, then Sunday morning it was bright red blood so I assumed that I had started my period early. BUT it stopped within an hour and went back to dark brown spotting.
Avatar n tn Now I have had 10 days of bleeding in the last month, it started out spotting, but then seemed to progress to a period with some clotting for several days then back to spotting. Cysts are still there, and endormetrial biopsy that I had a year ago for some light spotting showed normal so my doc did not do another one this time. Does anyone have any similar experiences, and what did you do?
Avatar f tn t think the fatty liver would cause all of those issues. The usual rule is that ovarian cysts that are over 5cm and complex (have solid parts) are ones that need to be surgically removed to rule out ovarian cancer. Ask for your scan report which will give you the sizes of the adrenal mass and ovarian cysts. An enlarged uterus often happens if you have fibroids. Hopefully, your doctor will be able to give you a action plan soon.
Avatar n tn thatquitegirl is right, visiting a doctor would be the best thing to do to confirm any ovarian cysts and to know why youre having those abdominal pains.
Avatar f tn Spotting before period start and lack of flow not enough to fill in the pads thin uterine lining and ovarian cysts and small fibroids what treatment to increase blood flow is it low progesterone
Avatar m tn More than 98%t of ovarian cysts are none cancer. Ovarian cysts in women are very common. Most resolve themselves with out surgery. If you can take something like Ibuprofen that can help with inflammation.
Avatar n tn This was my second visit to E.R. since 07 and they told me I have ovarian cysts. This last time the E.R. Dr. also told me I have fibroids, which another E.R. Dr. told me approx 14 years ago when I had the same problem, however, the regular gyn Dr. says it's nothing. It's my understanding that 12 months straight of no periods IS menopause and you shouldn't be getting cysts, but the Dr. says it's o.k. they sometimes form, and even though the E.R.
Avatar f tn Hi, Sorry, I don't know much about the "Mirena".. What does your Dr. say about the cysts? How were they found? You might check out the top right of this page "Health Pages" . It has a lot of information about Ovarian Cysts. Cysts are very common in younger women, but you must ask the Dr. about the IUD /Mirena. I truly have no idea about that.
Avatar m tn I had an ultrasound done that showed two ovarian cysts in my left ovary and right ovary appeared fine. Since then, my pain has been in right side near ovary, left side near ovary and sometimes even in my rib cage on my right side. I've had three times where I can't take a deep breath without feeling stabbing side ache in rib cage.
Avatar f tn I also have IBS. Normal pap results less than a year ago. I do have a history of ovarian cysts, had one removed years past.
Avatar f tn OK so I last had sex on 1/19/11 before my boyfriend went out on the raod again (Truck driver) and then on 1/29/11 i have spotting then what appeared to be a normal but light period for 1 day and then spotting again. 2 weeks later i am now spotting again it is pale pink and only on the paper when i wipe. My doctor sent me for an ultrasound and she said it is a small cyst but it will correct itself. Does this sound right to anyone? I have a small cyst last year but never spotting.
