473760 tn?1215219977 I just went to have my annual physical and during some of the tests I have come to find out that I have a small ovarian cyst. I have never had this problem before and I am incredibly punctual about annual physicals and what not. This is not the first time I have had this test, and nothing has ever shown up before. I know cysts are caused by many different things, but it just seems odd to me that it occured after starting the Lamictal. Does anyone know if this can cause ovarian cysts?
Avatar n tn Last night was pain in my lower back and sides and this morning it is vomiting bile and the lymph node is still swollen! I am worried about cancer with the frequency of the cysts and swollen lymph nodes. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? What was your diagnosis?
Avatar n tn Hello, I am hoping that someone has had some experience with ovarian cysts and the use of birth control (nuva ring) to prevent ovulation. My doctor started me on the nuva ring in hopes that it would help with the pain from bilateral ovarian simple cysts that measure 5cm and 4.2 cm. If anyone has experience with this type of treatment please respond to the following questions. Does birth control help with the pain from ovarian cysts? Does using birth control help ressolve the existing cysts?
Avatar m tn By far, most ovarian cysts are benign even complex ones. Most cysts resolve on their own in 3 cycles or so but complex ones are less apt to resolve. Since removal of even one ovary can impair fertility and even lifelong health (since the ovaries produce hormones a woman's whole life), it is best to have just the cyst removed (cystectomy) versus the ovary (oophorectomy).
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can be benign or malignant but the majority (over 90%) are benign. A lot depends on your age and what type of cyst it is - functional, dermoid, etc. Your doctor hopefully will let you know if there is anything to be concerned about. You can google "ovarian cysts" to get more information so you know what questions to ask at your appointment. Please let us know how it goes.
Avatar n tn What is the difference between ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. I haven't had a period for 3 months now and I have a sharp pain in my lower right side, as well as back pain, especially in the mornings. once in a while i am off balance when walking. i am bloated, and a lot of times i don't have an appetite.
Avatar n tn Also be mindful of your diet, there is a link between insulin resistance and ovarian cysts. It is best to stay away from processed white flour products like bread and pasta, and the worst culprit is of course sugar.
Avatar f tn I suppose a high creatinine level could indirectly be related to ovarian cysts as ovarian cysts can aggravate hydronephrosis, which in turn elevated creatinine levels.
Avatar f tn I have ovarian cysts that rupture and when i mentioned pain during sex to my gyno, he said i might have endometriosis. I can only have intercourse without pain if i am on the bottom. I also get pink discharge or bleed after. You should post your question in the ovarian cysts forum, and endometriosis forum. Doesnt hurt to cover all bases. But your best bet is to contact your gyno and tell them whats going on, so they can find out why. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are very common and affect mainly women in their 30s and 40s. Women who are past menopause (ages 50-70) and have ovarian cysts have a higher risk of having ovarian cancer. The only way to diagnose ovarian cancer is looking at the cells under a microscope. There are tumour markers the doctors can test for called CA-125 and CA19-9 (both are blood tests) however numbers can be higher due to inflammation.
Avatar f tn 98% of ovarian cysts are non cancerous. It is rare to have cancerous cysts on both ovaries. If you do not have the BRCA mutation you have a 1.4% of ovarian cancer in a lifetime. You doctor is who you need to talk to. Write down questions to ask.
Avatar f tn Do ovarian cysts cause extreme fatigue? I have for cysts. One of them is a complex cyst measuring 4cm. I have had them for at least a year and being treated with birth control. I get abdominal pain, back pain, pain on my thighs, bloating and nausea. However, what really affects my daily life is the fatigue. I am always very tired, I feel like everything aches and just want to sleep. I work but lack the energy to go through an entire day without feeling I need to sleep!
Avatar f tn I had pain on my right side and went for an ultrasound and they told me I have a few small cysts on the right and one had ruptured, but they were more concerned because I had one on my left ovary that is 2.8cm. I think this may have been caused by me abruptly stopping the pill a few months ago. My husband had a vasectomy so I figured why keep taking the pill, I didn't realize how much is would mess up my system.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, I cannot comment on anything but the ovarian cysts. Cysts are very common and most resolve on their own. If yours are not large (over 7 cm or so) and you do not have a predisposition for / family history of ovarian cancer, then they can usually be monitored via periodic ultrasound.
Avatar f tn After multiple tests (ultrasound, ct scan and MRI) I was told I have complex ovarian cysts 5×4 cm on both ovaries and pancreatic cyst that is over 1cm . I have 2 questions. 1. Since I very much refuse and will be refusing contraceptives , how else naturally can I cure ovarian cysts? 2. Can acidic taste in my mouth with coating on my tongue and lower back pain be due to pancreatic cyst?
256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar f tn Although these traits can occur with cancer, they can also occur with benign cysts. And most cysts are benign. The average woman's lifetime risk of ovarian cancer is very low at 1.3%. So if you do not have a genetic predisposition / family history of ovarian cancer then the odds are greatly in your favor that they are benign. Is your doctor monitoring them for now with periodic ultrasounds?
Avatar n tn Common things being common, fibroids, which are benign muscle growths of the wall of the uterus, can give you pain and heavy bleeding. Ovarian cysts can be related to ovulation, or benign growths, endometriosis and so on. To sort that out, usually repeat scans are obtained over 3 to 6 months to see dynamically how the cysts come and go. Depending on your age, birth contorl pills are commonly tried to control heavy bleeding and pain.
Avatar m tn A lot of the women I met on the ovarian cancer board put my mind at ease by saying 99.9% of cysts are benign. So I hope that helps. In 2007 I had surgery and was diagnosed with stage IV Endometriosis. What the mass was, was my entire insides wrapped around my uterus. So it had complex aspects to it that is why they couldn't tell.
Avatar f tn I had a ovarian cystectomy in 1986, total abdominal hysterectomy in 1994, bilateral salipingoophrectomy and ovarian cysts removed in 2005. This year I had a CAT scan for another medical issue and it was discovered that I had masses both right and left adenxal area. I went to the Cancer Institute of NJ for a consultation with a GYN/Oncologist. After numerous tests including MRI, Ultrasounds, CA-125 (negative) and I had lab work done which indicated I was premenopausal.
Avatar f tn I too have Ovarian Remnent Syndrome...and have had re-curring cysts in the pelvic area. I too am an Ovarian Cancer survivior, stage 1A. I too have cysts on my kidneys. Now, all that being said, I have had a total of two surgeries and although there are more cysts...the doctors are not too keen on a 3rd sugery because of all the risks. The doctors have also mentioned that some people are just cystic and develop these things....doesn't mean that it is cancer.
168348 tn?1379357075 I have MSK which is Medullary Sponge Kidney and many times the question comes up if there is a corellation between MSK and Ovarian Cysts. Same holds true with thyroid patients ... many ask oftentimes if there is an association between Ovarian Cysts and Thyroid conditions. Anybody have any thoughts on this? I am CL of the Thyroid Disorders and post on the new MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) Community ..
1470552 tn?1300605907 It seems there is a connection between hypothyroidism and ovarian cysts. I saw an article online and it states that similarities between TSH and bhCG levels can stimulate ovarian cyst growth. The article can be found at http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/795877-overview Nearly at the very bottom of the page is a subheading "Causes" and I refered to the 3rd point. It is an interesting connection.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, I just wanted to know the experience of others. I had a laparoscopy done yesterday where a large cyst was removed from inside each ovary. The surgeon also found multiple smaller cysts in right ovary. The surgeon informed me that he has sent the cysts for a biopsy and said ' lets hope it is not cancer'. My mother died of ovarian cancer at 42 so naturally they are more concerned.
