Avatar m tn The decision about whether to use oral contraceptives is very complicated, and needs to be researched thoroughly and considered in the context of each woman's health history and risk factors for various types of cancer. The research on whether oral contraeptives raise the risk for breast cancer is inconclusive. Older studies, based on the early birth control pills that contained much higher levels of hormones than today's low-dose pills suggested there was an increased risk. esp.
Avatar f tn Since I very much refuse and will be refusing contraceptives , how else naturally can I cure ovarian cysts? 2. Can acidic taste in my mouth with coating on my tongue and lower back pain be due to pancreatic cyst?
Avatar f tn I completely understand about the contraceptives. Even before I had my last cyst and ovca dx, I was unable to take oral contraceptives because of the nausea. I am so glad you got an appt. I hope you find something that helps. I am also insulin resistant and I have to cut the carbs in order to stay balanced. The South Beach Diet has helped me, especially since my surgical menopause. I make sure to eat protein every time I eat a carb and it has made a big difference.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am new to having ovarian cysts. Ultrasound confirmed a cyst on my left ovary and several functional cysts on my right. I'm going on 26 days now of back and pelvic pain. Just got back on oral contraceptives to help suppress more cysts last week. Is there an average period of time for the cysts to dissapate and the pain to go away? Im on prescription pain meds along with heating pad when it's especially bad. Scary to think how bad the pain would still be if I wasn't on pain meds.
Avatar m tn My daughter has Endo and also reoccurring cysts, she is 22 and has had 11 surgeries. They have now removed her left ovary on Nov. 5th and she already has a large painful cyst on her right ovary. She is getting a cyst every 45-60 days and are so painful she is throwing up and can't walk. The doctors have tried every hormonal option. Any suggestions? They don't want to do a hysterectomy at her age.
Avatar f tn With such a history I am obviously an IVF candidate which I am planning in near future. Over the years I had history of simple cysts which ruptured spontaneously and were treated conservatively. I have been on oral contraceptives since 10 years. In july i found a simple cyst which measured 2.6 cm, in september it was 3.6, and in november (yesterday) it was 5,48 cm. I was told to come back in 6 weeks for another ultrasound.
Avatar f tn Ive had a ongoing problem with ovarian cysts, and during my first treatment a doctor as good as told me long term use of this contraceptive could have been to blame...since then another medical professional has hinted the same thing.I cant help but wonder if this could be the case, after all contraception of any invasive type interferes with normal bodily functions so cant do you any good really.
287297 tn?1207305706 Just out of interest, has anybody been placed on the contraceptive pill for preventing further ovarian cysts? And if so is it effective? Ive been placed on a hig dose pill as a last resort to try prevent further cysts and Im just wondering if this has been the case for anyone else?
1973052 tn?1332868276 An estimate is to wait about 2 to 3 menstrual cycles. Your doctor may prescribe oral contraceptives to help disintegrate the cyst on ovary. 95% of ovarian cysts are benign (non cancerous). Surgery becomes necessary when there is a chance of the ovarian cyst rupturing, some abnormality in the cyst, cancer, the cyst doesn’t go away or grows, and other complications.

Avatar f tn Only non surgical option is an abdomenal usg which detects only ovarian cysts. I have been advised to continue oral contraceptives till I want to concieve. Then the doc will perform a laparoscopy. I want to know what are possible side effects of such meds if I continue those for 3-4 years?? How Badly it can effect my health? I have migraine issue as well, although the non aura migraine. I don't want to really marry and concieve at this age. It will interfere with my career.
Avatar f tn acetaminophen for the pain is OK. hemangiomas are not caused by oral contraceptives nor are cysts. adenomas and FNH lesions in the liver are. If pain is due to the cyst or hemangioma then surgery is sometimes done. You should not have to wait months to see someone. What type of specialist are you to see/ Where do you live?
Avatar n tn Overall, however, the risks of endometrial and ovarian cancer appear to be reduced with the use of oral contraceptives, - whereas the risks of breast, cervical, and liver cancer appear to be increased. 1913704 tn?1322340721 Also breast tenderness can be side effects of many oral contraceptives and I wonder if you are on birth control pills. The estrogen in the pills can cause breasts to enlarge and the veins become more prominent. I don't think that your problem is too worrisome, but please call your doctor for an appointment to make sure that your breasts are healthy. Take care and best wishes...
Avatar f tn I've had a few ultrasounds but it didn't show anything unusual. I've checked with doctors and the only thing they've suggested were vitamins, iron, etc... and oral contraceptives. I'm trying it but I'm not so confident that it'll be effective because my main problem is during the cycle and even painkillers don't help.
1324051 tn?1275414812 Thanks a lot, Annie. I wasn't sure when the cysts dissolve. I thought oral contraceptives suppressed ovulation but I'm not sure how long it takes for a body to adjust to new pills and stop ovulating. I've only been on them for a month. I appreciate your input very much. I'll be sure to ask the doc next week. My visit with her will answer lots of questions.
Avatar n tn There seems to be a connection with Crohn's pain and oral contraceptives, so the same might hold true with estrogen replacement. http://www.crohns.org.uk/Docs/5/The%20oral%20contraceptive%20pill%20and%20Inflammatory%20Bowel%20Disease.
Avatar n tn These cramps can be due to premenstrual syndrome which indicates that you might experience your periods within next few days. Avatar f tn Hello, Castor oil may cause diarrhea and loss of water but is not a treatment for ovarian and any other cysts. Oral intake may cause such side effects and some may be absorbed even by topical application. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
129311 tn?1266346822 I have had ovarian cysts in the past so when I got that twinge of pain I knew what was coming. In the past I took oral contraceptives and that took care of them. I stopped taking them after It cleared up. This has been a couple of years ago. I went to my gyno and she could not feel anything during the exam, but said my lower back/abdominal pain is probably due to the cyst rupturing and now i just have to wait for that liquid to re-absorb and for the cyst to resolve on its own.
Avatar f tn I have had the Mirena coil in for 15 Months now, i went to the Practice Nurse a few weeks ago with all sorts of symptoms inc lack of bladder control and continuous dark discharge, initial inspection by the Nurse found a swollen cervix, so infection tests were carried out, they came back negative, with symptoms including lower back pain and sharp contraction like pains, i was refered for urgent scan, during the Ultra sound scan at least one cyst 30mmX30mmX40mm was found on my right ovary, the dul
Avatar n tn I am very familiar with dermoid cysts and regular cysts. My Mom is currently putting together her list of questions. If your daughter is in a lot of pain I would suggest a heating pad for about 10-15 minutes on the lower back at low to medium heat. It works well and lets me sleep through the night. I would just let your daughter know that she is not alone in this.
