Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
Avatar f tn but it seems like you have had many scans and a consistent problem with cysts. Ovarian cancer would not get smaller like your cysts have done. But, with endo and a family history of ovarian cancer, I am not sure about the Lupron and birth control pills. Have you ever had a CT scan? Perhaps this would shed more light on the type of cysts you are dealing with. It doesn't sound like you have confidence in your doctor and a second opinion never hurts. Trust your intuition.
Avatar m tn The GYN would do the menopause so to try and differentiate between the pain of cysts and endometriosis. Endometriosis can be painful, but not always, but the cysts shouldn't cause any problems, unless they are not normal cysts, in a menopausal state. As for the black outs, I've never heard of that happening to someone, but it could happen if the pain is really bad. I quickly pulled that out of my school book. I would just make sure that the doctor knows about the black outs.
Avatar f tn I have found in my practice, that if I suppress both cysts AND menstrual periods with depot Lupron, and it HELPS, then a hysterectomy likely will too. If is doesn't help, a hysterectomy likely won't. Chronic pain is very poorly understood, and has to do with how the nerves of the body "remember" pain. It also often leads to depression (not vice versa as many doctors would suggest).
Avatar f tn t mean trash it, as I do know people in your exact position where they did a course of lupron, their cysts and fibroids shrunk, and the had surgery. I'm sorry I don't have many more answers. I wish you the best.
Avatar f tn I have had 4 laps in which I have had an appendectomy, chocolate cysts, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and endo everywhere (all reproductive organs, bowels, bladder, and diaphragm). I have been on just about every birth control on the market and have had multiple lupron depot treatments, with my longest being 9 months. My last lap was in June 2012 and around October I began having my normal endo symptoms of back pain, cramping, and heavy bleeding despite being on continuous birth control.
Avatar f tn There is, however, one thing that makes me willing to seriously consider surgery, and that is the increased risk of ovarian cancer in women with endometriosis. And according to a recent European study, endometriosis increases the risk of some other cancers as well. I have also read that endometriosis increases the risk of certain autoimmune conditions (though that connection doesn't seem to be one that's made as often). I have a family history of RA, so that is a concern too.
1543316 tn?1293351811 Has anyone else experienced these symptoms, and possibly with excessive weight gain (I have gone from 110 to 199 with NO weight loss at all), extreme fatigue, bone and joint pain, infertility, migraines, chronic ovarian cysts, insomnia, irregular periods and extreme mood swings? I know the list is extensive, but I am trying to be as thorough as possible.
746917 tn?1234571359 I do know some people that have had success w/Lupron but not me. I had a Lap and 6 mos of Lupron and then another Lap to clean up the scar tissue and Endo. That only helped me for a short time. I completely understand what you are going thru and it is FRUSTRATING esp. since you are so young. I had my partial Hyst when I was 36 and the ovaries removed at age 38. It wasn't until the last surgery that I felt good again.
225036 tn?1294509400 I had an FSH test done last week (due to having NO menopausal symptoms) and found that I definately have ovarian function again. My FSH level was 13.9 which is great for someone who has ovarian function. I have been havig pains so I went to my pcp on Friday and he is sending me to yet another OBGYN. I am a bit apprehensive because this doctors response when my pcp called him was.....Just give her a shot of Lupron. WTH????
Avatar f tn All was well until April 09, then my right ovary began developing very painful cysts, I have been on BC and am now on Lupron (my fourth month) as well as BC. Now I am having the same pain, yes even on Lupron. I am going in for my hundredth (LOL) U/S tomorrow, I have had this pain before with no signs of cysts as well as very small cysts. My gyno has mentioned removing my right ovary with a full hystorectomy. I am grasping at straws as to what to do..........
Avatar m tn I had to have several laparoscopies to remove choco/endo cysts. Lupron shots didn't help me. I had several reoccuring cysts of all sorts up until I had everything removed. Once I had everything removed, I felt/feel SO MUCH better. Different things work for different people........ I have never tried Acupuncture, sounds interesting and worth a try. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn He removed all lesions and cysts on my ovaries via excision. I bleed on birth control and while on progestin currently I have bad bleeding and cramping. That's why I'm afraid the surgery was ineffective.
501229 tn?1210133631 I am 23 years old and diagnosis with ovarian cysts. I am really thankful that I found this site and ask women who have health problem similar to mine. My doctor found one large dermoid cyst (9 by 9 by 5 cm) on my left ovary and one smaller dermoid cyst (3 by 2.5 by 2.5 cm) on right ovary. Both cysts are probably not cancerous.
Avatar f tn There is no history of it in my family at all, but we do have a very long line of Ovarian Cysts which I also have. For the past four years I have had a rupture on my right side every four months exactly. So I suppose there is a connection there since many say endo is also connected to ovarian cysts. This month my cycle was very strange, for I have been charting for the last 8 months; it's been consistently getting more off track.
Avatar f tn I have had reoccuring complex and endo cysts since my teens. I have (had) severe endo and had a partial hyst 3 yrs ago. The cysts kept coming despite Lupron shots and laps to remove them and I had both ovaries removed last year at age 38. I have never felt this good........... Menopause kinda sux but there is no pain anymore. The decision for me to have my ovaries taken out was easy(ish) for me cuz I was done having children. I hope you find relief and feel better. Keep us updated.
551683 tn?1220656108 I went for a follow-up appointment with gyn/surgeon and she showed me pictures taken during my surgery. I asked about the ovarian cysts. She pointed them out on the pictures. One on the right and a larger one on the left. She said they looked fine. She said if this surgery did not help things, we may need to go further. Since my surgery, I'm still having the pain in my lower left side. I wonder if this is b/c of the cysts.
Avatar f tn It hurts on and off, sometimes worse than usual, and when I cough, pee, have sex (and getting worse!), and walk (when it's really bad). My periods are fairly regular, but HURT so so so bad. The doctor I saw also prescribed some pain killers - did not help. Ibuprofen doesn't do much - so nothing really helps. I also lost a ton of weight after my 3 son was born. I went from from 150 (my pre-birth "regular" weight), to 115 in under 3 months.
Avatar f tn I am 24, I have recurring ovarian cysts. In 2005 I had a 3 1/2 inch cyst removed off my right ovary by the c-section method. They saved the ovary but now I am having the same problems. I went to the ER and had a CT scan done on my abdomin. The doctor noted that the CT Scan showed bilateral cysts on both ovaries. Both times I have suffered from cysts I was on birth control. Should I be worried about PCOS? I have an appointment with my primary doctor tomorrow to discuss my options as they are now.
533193 tn?1289727345 Hello to you all I just found out about a week and a half ago that i have an ovarian cysts and had to be placed on bcps and hated that idea but ohwell. I had gotten some bloodwork done on monday which was day 3 of my cycle and these are the answers that i wanted to worry about( really worrying about them). My CA 125 is 44.4 U/ml and they are supposed to be less than 35 and that is driving me crazy.FSH was 5.1, LH is 4.4and estradiol is 10 and prolactin is 11.8.
Avatar n tn Hi There, There are definitely situations where there are several possible approaches. For young women with pain and ovarian cysts, the most common approach is watchful waiting so as not to do unnecessary surgery. Commonly, one would consider adding a medical intervention to suppress ovarian cycling such as the birth control pill or even inducing artificial menopause with something like lupron. If the pain and cysts go away, then it is usually reasonable to continue on the pill.
Avatar f tn I am 36 with severe endo. and after being on the lupron shot for 2 1/2 months I starting having right sharp pelvic pain, back pain, sciatica and my stomach had distended as if I am pregnant. Ultrasound found a 6cm cyst last week - no pain at the time, this week with pain, cyst has grown another cm. Dr has sent me home and wants to wait 6 wks. He doesn't want to perform any surgery due to the extensive nature of my endo and doesn't want to hurt other organs or make the problem worse.
Avatar f tn Although there still is controversies, it appears to interfere with ovarian reserve and oocyte quality. As a result, the ovaries may repond differently form cycle to cycle. Having said that, most reproductive endocrinologists do not recommend removal of endometriomas because the risk of removing normal ovarian tissue during the surgery, and therefore compromising further the ovarian reserve. Moreover, it appears that surgery does not improve outcomes.
1308521 tn?1324050509 I do not have children and plan is to ttc after lupron and see what happens (I am 38, so yes, I waited little too long). I am not too obsessed with ttc, for me, the most important part is to feel well and then anything is possible. As for pain, I am pretty much on the same regime as you. Heating pad is my favorite. When is your surgery? I hope this is the last one you'll have. Thanks for your support, it really helps to talk to someone who can relate.
Avatar f tn and there are months that they think they see another one on that left side (thats about all that side is good for, is producing cysts!) When we were about to do IVF and they thought i had a hemorrhagic cyst vs endometrioma they said that as long as its (i hope i remember this right) under 3cm or so it shouldn't interfere with IVF..
Avatar n tn Your cysts are not that large but with endometriosis, size of cyst or spots of endometriosis does not correlate with pain. Some women have terrible pain and tiny spots , other women have huge cysts and no pain. One of the many mysteries of the disease.
Avatar n tn I have endometriosis, and I have had ovarian cysts since I was about 18 years old I go through pain every month. I currently have been in alot of pain and my PCP ordered a CT to check for kidney stones which I have had a problem with for about 10 years, In my results it should to small kidney stones, but also two large fluid dense cyst, one measuring 4.0 x 3.7 cm and the other 2.3 x 1.7 cm both on my right side. I just had my tubes tied in early sept and cyst removed during that time.
Avatar n tn I'm 29 years old and was diagnosed with stage 4 endo one year ago. I had one ovary and tube removed. My dr. was able to save the other ovary but it was in bad shape too. My laparotmy was in July '07 and a month ago my dr. ordered a sonogram and tells me the cysts (endometriomas) on my remaining ovary are coming back (a 4 cm, 2 cm, and several smaller ones). I'm now seeing an RE who wants to put me on Lupron for 3-6 months before performing another surgery to remove the cysts.
