356929 tn?1246389756 I was dx with hypothyroidism and ovarian cysts at the same time. I don't know which came first, but I have both also.
168348 tn?1379357075 I have MSK which is Medullary Sponge Kidney and many times the question comes up if there is a corellation between MSK and Ovarian Cysts. Same holds true with thyroid patients ... many ask oftentimes if there is an association between Ovarian Cysts and Thyroid conditions. Anybody have any thoughts on this? I am CL of the Thyroid Disorders and post on the new MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) Community ..
1470552 tn?1300605907 It seems there is a connection between hypothyroidism and ovarian cysts. I saw an article online and it states that similarities between TSH and bhCG levels can stimulate ovarian cyst growth. The article can be found at http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/795877-overview Nearly at the very bottom of the page is a subheading "Causes" and I refered to the 3rd point. It is an interesting connection.
Avatar f tn 7cms No fibroid... Both ovaries are prominent with small 3-4mm cysts.. And right ovary volume 11.1ml and left ovary vol 10.5ml... missed last month period... What you suggest?
672990 tn?1235143638 There is obviously sone relation. I too have ovarian cysts and hav now just been diagnosed with 8 cysts on my thyroid. Very interesting. I will be seeing a specialist as what to do about my diagnoses. Thankyou so much for posting your experiences.
Avatar f tn I went through countless ultrasounds dealing with ovarian cysts, and ended up having 2 surgeries for it. I would absolutely get a second opinion for another doctor if you can to have more opinions or ideas of how to treat the ovarian cysts whether they find that maybe they can find a medication(birth control, etc) that wont effect any other medications you are on due to your hypothyroidism or decide if getting you on a surgery list is in your best interest.
Avatar n tn If the pain and chills continue, or if she develops a fever she needs to be evaluated by a gynecologist for ultrasound. Ovarian cysts are usually benign growths and are not as uncommon as some people think. The only thing that causes ovarian cysts to become an emergency if they are large, if it is causing the ovary to twist, or if an infection develops. However, I believe that the cause of your wife's discomfort if from a rupturing ovarian cyst. I hope she gets to feeling better soon.
659908 tn?1224859027 t heard this but have heard of ovarian cysts being related to hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism has dry eyes as a symptom. So quite possibly!
Avatar m tn Hello, Heavy periods can be due to hypothyroidism, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometrial proliferation or hyperplasia like ovarian tumor and polycystic ovarian disease, polyps(cervical or endometrial. They are small, fragile, non cancerous growths in the cervix or uterus) and neoplasia, endometriosis, fibroids(benign (non-cancerous) tumors that often occur in the uterus of women during their thirties or forties),uterine cysts and uterine sarcomas.
1973052 tn?1332868276 That would make more sense. Ovarian cysts are very common and MOST are non-cancerous (benign) regardless of whether or not you have your uterus. If you do not have a family history of ovarian cancer, then this cyst is very unlikely to be ovarian cancer. And with it being small, the standard of care would be to monitor it via periodic ultrasounds because most cysts go away on their own in 2 to 3 cycles / months. If it looks suspicious, you should see a gynecologic oncologist.
Avatar n tn I have hypothyroidism but being monitored and under control. I have had two children already and the pregnancies were uneventful I am a nervous wreck now, what could it be?
Avatar f tn When I was pregnant with my little boy 6 years ago my obgyn told me I had cysts but they weren't bad (they checked it). That day I found out my family (on my mom's side) has ovarian cancer, breast cancer, and ovarian cysts. I don't have medical insurance and I don't get paid enough to see anyone about it, but it has me worried that something isn't right, I'm usually normal but instead I've missed 4 periods.
Avatar f tn When i found this community, I found it very interesting that there is a strong correlation between hypothyroidism and ovarian cysts. My theory is that my undermedicated thyroid is causing my ovaries not to ovulate (I track my BBT and I have not ovulated in 8 years...which is ironically since I've had hypo.) So do you think this may work...or should I just prepare myself for surgery? Thank you for your time!
Avatar m tn m not sure what the connection would be b/n liver enzymes and ovarian cysts. Never heard of it. Ovarian cysts are not unusual and generally go away on their own. For now, focus on getting your Hep B under control and then deal with the ovaries if need be. Your viral load is completely possible, its a number that can go into the billions and given your very high ALT, I find the viral load believable. Please update us.
1550253 tn?1359048669 I've always had menstrual issues...it comes with the territory of having PCOS and hypothyroidism. But I am on birth control to regulate my periods...but even then, my periods are still a bit wacky, it seems. Like, right now...I was supposed to have my period this week...but it hasn't shown up yet at all and I'm starting my new pack today. But that happens often...where my period won't show up until a couple days into the new pack.
Avatar f tn Hi i don't take medication, I following Ray Peat's dietary suggestions, I have trouble losing weight, fatigue, joint pain, irregular menstruation, ovarian cysts, the doctor didn't test antibodies, he did not think it would be necessary, but I will like consider an other opinion, thanks
Avatar n tn Hello, I am hoping that someone has had some experience with ovarian cysts and the use of birth control (nuva ring) to prevent ovulation. My doctor started me on the nuva ring in hopes that it would help with the pain from bilateral ovarian simple cysts that measure 5cm and 4.2 cm. If anyone has experience with this type of treatment please respond to the following questions. Does birth control help with the pain from ovarian cysts? Does using birth control help ressolve the existing cysts?
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can be benign or malignant but the majority (over 90%) are benign. A lot depends on your age and what type of cyst it is - functional, dermoid, etc. Your doctor hopefully will let you know if there is anything to be concerned about. You can google "ovarian cysts" to get more information so you know what questions to ask at your appointment. Please let us know how it goes.
Avatar n tn What is the difference between ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. I haven't had a period for 3 months now and I have a sharp pain in my lower right side, as well as back pain, especially in the mornings. once in a while i am off balance when walking. i am bloated, and a lot of times i don't have an appetite.
Avatar n tn Also be mindful of your diet, there is a link between insulin resistance and ovarian cysts. It is best to stay away from processed white flour products like bread and pasta, and the worst culprit is of course sugar.
Avatar m tn There were in fact two small cysts on my right ovary (not sure why my OB had thought it was the left one?) Anyway, OBGYN said the cysts measured at 1.2 CM and 2.9CM. These cysts were not 100% fluid, though I have no clue what the ratio was of fluid to non-fluid. My OBGYN told me with what seemed like great confidence that with my age, and the size of the cysts, she felt sure that they would resolve and that they weren't tumors, or anything like that.
Avatar f tn I suppose a high creatinine level could indirectly be related to ovarian cysts as ovarian cysts can aggravate hydronephrosis, which in turn elevated creatinine levels.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are very common and affect mainly women in their 30s and 40s. Women who are past menopause (ages 50-70) and have ovarian cysts have a higher risk of having ovarian cancer. The only way to diagnose ovarian cancer is looking at the cells under a microscope. There are tumour markers the doctors can test for called CA-125 and CA19-9 (both are blood tests) however numbers can be higher due to inflammation.
1601869 tn?1441310748 You may have hypothyroidism and they can put you on medication to treat it. Sometimes certain organs can just go "out of whack" and cause problems. Just make sure to keep up with your doctor's appointments and stay on top of your health. Hope it goes well.
