296025 tn?1233256719 WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PREVACID USE WITH HEP C? SINCE ITS EXPENSIVE IS THERE A GENERIC FORM?
Avatar f tn Hi. I take Prevacid, which is a little pricey, even with insurance. However, there is another one, Aciphex, which was about 30 dollars cheaper. I am back on the Prevacid as the Aciphex didn't work as well ( for me...I was on Prevacid for years and only switched because of the cost...65 dollars). You may want to ask about that. Also, I was told my pharmacist that otc prilosic works well too.
Avatar f tn m taking the right thing to fight it. Do mastic gum, DGL licorice, slippery elm, and OTC products like Prilosec or Prevacid, etc. cause loose stools? I'm prone to loose stools and don't want the problem to get worse. Thanks for any help and suggestions!
Avatar n tn Hey hun my name is Delma AKA..Valleybabes on here and I read your posting about taking prilosec. I actually take the same exact medication and I had to stop 3 wks ago because I was informed that wasn't a medication that was recommended for preggys, so they relplaced it prevacid which is a sister drug to prilosec, but prevacid being safer, and yeah a little more expensive. You might want to get other opinions on this also. I wish you the best!!!
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering!
Avatar m tn Is prevacid an otc item in the US? i work in a pharmacy in canada and its prescription. 15 mg and 30 mg.
Avatar f tn Thanks for quick reply. I've been taking for about a week. It has really Helped the heartburn but the nausea is miserable. My hope is that it will improve as not eating because of nausea is not a solution.
223372 tn?1240920676 I was very restless and anxious and the warnings were to quit it immediately if I experienced those symptoms. So, my OB put me on Prilosec OTC this week----I have read pros and cons on line.....anyone else out there have an opinion?
Avatar n tn Try the OTC prevacid that was just recently released. I used to be on prevacid when it was only available by prescription until my insurance company stopped covering it. I definitely am going to use the OTC version since the Prilosec my insurance co told me to use does absolutely nothing.
Avatar m tn Yeah I have pretty much tried them all! Nothing seems to work. Today for example I took two prevacid, yet at 8:45 I am sitting here with acid in the back of my throat. I have tried all OTC stuff, prevacid, prilosec, and aciphex. I may give nexium a shot because that seems to work the best for some people.
Avatar f tn Then about a month ago, I started getting heartburn, along with nausea and vomiting. Soon, I also had bitter taste in my mouth. I got prescription for prevacid again from my doc, and I also tried OTC meds(tums, etc), but none of them worked. In fact, the symptoms are getting worse. (I am being very careful with my diet currently. No fatty, spicy food.. small meals..
Avatar m tn what works for one person may not work for another, in my case what works for me 1 week my not work the next, my body gets used to the product- so my Dr. tells me. OTC products can be doubled if the strenght on the box does not work---Try Pepsid AC they have a 10 & 20 mg....(the perscription for that is Axid 300mg)....I have been on them all, but not the ones with Sodium Bicarbonate like Zegerid OTc....
Avatar m tn I just started taking 30 mg of Lansoprazole a day for gerd. Does anyone know if the Prevacid (lansoprozole) prevents absorption of the the drugs. I asked my GI doctor and he said he didn't think there were issues of that sort, but he wasn't sure. appreciate any advice!
Avatar f tn I started my pregnancy with acid reflux.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar f tn m actually making myself feel sick inside over it, because of course, when I do a search for thin stools, Colon Cancer is the very first thing that pops up. I should state that I did recently stop taking Omeprazole (OTC Prilosec) and started on Prevacid...all about a month or so ago. My diet hasn't really changed, other than maybe adding a little bit more vegetables to my daily intake...but not enough that I would think it could cause a difference in my stool size.
Avatar f tn I have acid reflux and ulcers so tums never helped. They said that prevacid is safe to take. Plus it is otc so no prescription needed.
168348 tn?1379357075 and I was [[[ shocked ]]] at that .. it retails for over $300 /month!!! So why did they take Prevacid Packets off the shelf I ask .. grrrrrrrrrrr .. my co pay was $35/mo! It is helpful to have a quick melt or packet to mix for kids who aren't able to swallow a pill .. and the taste for an older child is awful if compounded (tastes like salt even with flavor bcz of the saccharine like products in it). Just was curious.
Avatar n tn Right now, I am taking Prevacid 30mg. My voice at times is hoarse, so I went to an ENT dr. and he sent me for a test to look into my throat, and I was told that I have swollen vocal cords, and the acid is still backing up. I took Prilosec OTC but it did not agree with me. I have rashes on my knees, elbows, back and my neck and back and head hurt, Is the Prevacid enough and could it be causing all these symptoms?
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed Nexium by my doctor for the past 9 months and it is wonderful in preventing heartburn but after a while I started noticing that my stomach was slower as it would take up to 12 hours to empty my stomach. I recently changed to Prevacid as it recently came out as an OTC and it is my 10th day on it and already feeling the difference.
Avatar m tn they must be taken on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after) or up to 60% of the drug is destroyed. The only two that can be taken with food are Aciphex and Dexalant but neither will be OTC for a couple of years. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Prevacid usage in infants with GER/GERD Lansoprazole also known as Prevacid is not typically recommended for children under 6 months of age. It is directed by the medications manufacturer that it must be given on an empty stomach in order to get the best results. Most children under 6 months of age eat every 2 to 4 hours therefore not allowing their stomachs to fully empty it's contents withen the time needed to administer the medication.
977806 tn?1249067346 Hello. I have GERD and just received a prescription for Nexium (have been using OTC Prilosec but after using a couple weeks of samples found Nexium worked perfect for my symptoms). I have individual Carefirst but horrible prescription plan. I just purchased 30 Nexium at $160.00! Is there anyone that has ordered from Canada online and if so do you have any recommendations for an online pharmacy. Thanks for any information.
Avatar f tn I take Prilosec OTC everyday. I been taken it since my first trimester. It helps and safe.
Avatar n tn s really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.
Avatar n tn I've had sinus problems for a very long time, it's been recently brought to my attention by an ENT (I can no longer see) that it's likely being caused by silent reflux. I never feel heartburn. I got Prevacid OTC and I have been taking it for two days. It's causing me some serious pain and lethargy I am unsure if I should just keep going or if it gets better. From what I'm reading online these are some serious and possibly dangerous medicines.
