osteoarthritis

975514 tn?1325001538 I think I have been misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia. And I feel as though I am getting weaker and weaker lately. I need some opinions from the group because my doctor doesn't seem to want to help me. First, I have a strong family history of autoimmune disease including RA, Reactive Arthritis (my father), thyroid and diabetes. I have been diagnosed with DDD, degenerative facet disease, and facet osteoarthritis.
Avatar m tn Wide spread body pain is manifested in many conditions like neck pain syndrome, low back pain, local tendonitis, trauma-related pain syndromes, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoarthritis of the knee or hand, and other painful disorders. These patients have some symptoms that mimic fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn I had previously been diagnoised with osteoarthritis. The rhematolgist also said I had fibromyalgia, and a connective tissue disorder. I am 50 years old and have always been pretty active, and healthy for a overweight person. I was having alot of pain all over, weakness, and trouble walking. I saw 6 doctors trying to find the problem. One girl at work thought I might have MS, the MD said no, they thought it might be due to existing back problems, again no.
372680 tn?1228165210 900mg (2100mg daily), celebrex 200mg twice a day, it's not as good as the cymbalta but after a year I couldn't handle the sweating anymore. I have fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis along with PPMS. Haven't tried Lyrica... afraid of the weight gain I'm currently at weight watchers and would prefer something that causes weight lose.
Avatar n tn I have both fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis among other things. Lately, I have been having a very hard time falling asleep at night. My schedule is off kilter since I am not working at present. I go to bed around 1AM and wake up so late - around 12Noon. I take antidepressents and anti-anxiety medication. I have recently tried to take a stress formula that contains high potency B-Complex which seems to make me more awake at bedtime than usual. Can this be possible?
Avatar m tn From Birmingham, Alabama - Lab Corp vs Mother Angelica. This is not a legal battle. From a culture of death. I have been most fortunate to live during the time of Pope John-Paul for 27 years. On January 17, 2008, there was a positive report of Hepatitus C. Does this mean a death sentence? This is an "add-on" to Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia. This,, by blood, is a sentence the same. . . as HIV. What more do I need, Schophrenia, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, false teeth . . .
Avatar f tn Hi, did we ever do this poll? If not, I'll try to revive it.
653169 tn?1303449969 I have done extensive research and I fit all the criteria. My doc is treating me for Fibromyalgia too, but I have had notable, visible joint damage in joints esp. in hands and feet that I didn't think fibro could do. My knuckles are enlarged and misshaped in hands and feet. I also have seperation of some of my toes. I also have degeneration in lumbar and hips My research agrees that I would have RA vs. Osteoarthritis. even though my orig. blood test for RA was negative. This is so frustrating.
Avatar f tn I also have fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, and just this week was told I have psoriatic arthritis. Some people get better and some don't. If you can go to any of those places I listed I am sure you can get good answers and a,treatment plan. You are in the right place. There are many experts on here that can give you good advice. You aren't alone in this.
Avatar n tn I fall asleep with no problems. No redness or swelling visible Pain and stiffness tend to heighten at night vs the morning Symptoms are atypical of osteoarthritis I have tried anti depressants Pain is non stress related Possible Fibromyalgia, but no offical diagnosis I sometimes doubt my pain until I am having another episode which can be a few days to a few weeks There is probably nothing anyone can say that hasn't been said, but I thought it was a shot.
Avatar f tn I do think Lyrica relieved more pain, but it did cause me more side effects and in the end, I was not happy with the balance of relief vs. complications. Lyrica made me feel more dizzy and confused. For example, I would take my dose, and within minutes I wouldn't remember if I had taken it yet or not. That made me uncomfortable. I have since been diagnosed with Lyme and am not taking Neurontin or Lyrica for the time being, so that I can track how my symptoms are changing with treatment.

1225331 tn?1333369369 I think the decision of using DMD's is a personal one and only you can decide what is best for you. I do take Lyrica and Celebrex for fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis which I'm sure help with the MS.
Avatar f tn I am a high functioning Fibromyalgia patient, but a side effect of Fibromyalgia is your chemicals are off, which causes depression...I went to see another Doctor, this Doctor was not aware of the withdrawal symptoms of discontinuing Cymbalta, just that its not recommended that I take it with the Prozac, she said quit the Cymbalta and she would see me back in 2 weeks and she would prescribe the Prozac.
Avatar n tn I have always taken this as my Osteoarthritis which an arthritis specialist at McBride clinic diag. me with apprx. 8-10 yrs ago. Itwas not until I had my records from him which I sent to my new PCP Dr. (an Interest), that I knew he had also dictated and diag. Avatar f tn Pain is relative. I've had a lot from herniated discs, fibromyalgia, severe osteoarthritis and then the hand disaster. And I had four babies. So I'm not a wuss. When I can stay somewhat distracted and not to crabby, then I'm content. It's when it's all-consuming and I'm short with everyone (especially my kids) over something trivial, that's when it gets to me. What a long path this is.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and have been told I never had Fibromyalgia - that in order to be diagnosed officially and correctly that it has to be proven that the patient reacts badly to 8 lbs of pressure at the pressure points. I was poked. With a finger. Not a tool that reads pressure. When this doc that says I don't have fibro showed me on the machine what 8 lbs of pressure felt like, I couldn't believe it. It didn't hurt until 25 lbs. Now...
1840891 tn?1431551393 I've had autoimmune arthritis for decades now, but in just the last year I've also developed osteoarthritis in both thumbs. It's very painful and quite debilitating. I complained to my PCP about how I couldn't take NSAID's, and she suggested I try Voltaren gel, a topically applied NSAID. She said if used as directed only very minute amounts would be absorbed into the general circulation. I googled the drug and immediately found an alarming FDA safety report at http://www.fda.
Avatar f tn I also have scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and have continual hip pain into my lower back, which I was told was bursitis. Could (or should) these problems be corrected with surgery, and could you explain this in layman's terms on the MRI findings? Thank you for any assistance you may be able to help with.
Avatar f tn fibromyalgia, really bad osteoarthritis in most joints, a herniated disk in my back, and RSD (which I wound up with after I had a joint replacement in my thumb. That implant failed, and I had a total of 9 surgeries and wound up having the RSD, nerve damage and a fusion.) Because I'm very sensitive to medications, I had a lot of side effects from the medications, including the narcotics. They had me on a tremendous amount of narcotics and I was still in pain most of the time.
1096758 tn?1260991947 severe progressive respiratory weakness leaving me on oxygen 24/7; fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and a number of other diseases. I have been on pain meds (at one time oxycontin 40mg 2x per day) but for the most part on 5-15mg oxycodone every 4-6 hours. I am also on ativan 1mg every 6 hours for bad anxiety; muscle spasms etc. I am also on beclofen for MS spasticity and bentyl for stomach pain/spasticity.
Avatar n tn It is muscular and some nights so painful I can't sleep and often find some comfort laying on a rolled up towel or even on my side, on the floor. I have always taken this as my Osteoarthritis which an arthritis specialist at McBride clinic diag. me with apprx. 8-10 yrs ago. Itwas not until I had my records from him which I sent to my new PCP Dr. (an Interest), that I knew he had also dictated and diag. FM but I don't have any real tender points?..

356518 tn?1322267242 The only place where tolerance doesn't seem to be inevitable is something called central sensitization, which is what causes pain in a susceptible group of people. It has been implicated in some cases of fibromyalgia, pain from shingles, pain from diabetic neurpathy, and some types of back pain that linger after damage has been repaired. (But not all types...
Avatar n tn Do you have diabetes, vasculities, vitamin B12 or folate deficiency, drink alot of alcohol, osteoarthritis, etc? Does the pain come and go, or is it the same every day? Are there specific areas in your shoulder and arm that hurt more than others? Where in your hand, which fingers hurt? How did the pain start? What is your age? Any medical problems other than your pain? Pain medication might help but you need to find the etiology of the pain.
Avatar n tn Hi Dear Synvisc is used to relieve knee pain due to osteoarthritis (OA). It is approved for those patients who do not get adequate relief from painkillers such as acetaminophen, or from exercise and physical therapy. Synvisc is injected directly into the joint to restore the lubricating properties of normal joint fluid. The therapy is generally well tolerated. However, it may not work for everyone.
378497 tn?1232147185 fibromyalgia, hashimoto's, osteoarthritis and have a family hx of PMR, Rheumatiod Arthritis, graves disease, hypothyroidism and many other I'm sure... I also have memory issues. I am currently under the care of a neurologist from Beth Israel Deconess Medical Center's Multiple Sclerosis Division in Boston, MA and have been told there is no "known treatment" for PPMS. I do however take many medications to help lessen the symptoms. I hope I helped.
Avatar n tn Ultram has provided me with the ability to live a productive and active life for this 55+ woman. The chronic pain of arthritis/ fibromyalgia had made me so fatigued I struggled to get up and accomplish anything. I have been taking it daily, 2-4 pills/day depending on the level of activity, for two years now. The major side effect I've noticed is "word recall". I noticed that it takes a moment or two longer to recall names of people and things for about 2 hours following a dose.
