748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar m tn Water aroebics works wonders. I've recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis of knee. Except I'm 42 for crying out loud! I highly suspect it's related to my taking Prevacid for 5 years (the reason I'm here). Anywho, the water aroebics and palates are very easy on your knees. Look up the pilates website and order the ring and video tapes. I joined 24 hour fitness for the water aroebics. It's worked wonders for me and I'm not a small woman myself.
475586 tn?1225027354 My knees do have osteoarthritis in them--I had an MRI. I also have 2 herniated discs in my neck and kyphosis. My sister has RA, so I thought I had it also, but the doctors say no. I have a rheumatologist who is very nice, although most of the treatments I've been getting for fibro are not doing much. He seems sure that other than my knees and my neck, what I have is fibromyalgia. I have pain all the time, aching and soreness and also the sharp, stabbing pains.
Avatar m tn Every EEG (except the video EEG 2000 stated above) including a video home surveillance EEG in 2005 showed no signs of seizure/miscommunication in brain. Several MRIs all unremarkable and VNG done in 2016 unremarkable results. Last Neurologist/vestibular specialist I saw believed it not be vertigo or epilepsy but actually migraines. After months almost a year of magnesium and riboflavin supplements, no relief.
Avatar f tn Let me start by saying I am in pain everyday from head to toe, I am 64 & otherwise in good health. I am currently being treated by a Rheumatologist for cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc disease, osteoarthritis of ankle & foot and Achilles tendonitis. and am not getting much relief. What concerns me the pain which occurs at the base of my head, if I turn my head while lying down, I can hear crackle from that area & pain follows.
Avatar n tn These bone spurs result from the attempt for the bone to regenerate strength when the bone tissue degenerates due to osteoarthritis or simply due to wear and tear on our spine as we age. The bone spurs can push against the spinal nerve roots and even cause stenosis (narrowing) of the spinal canal and create pressure on the spinal cord.
5692606 tn?1372495303 Hi Keithy397. You may be a candidate for "Tension Myositis Syndrome" treatment. This is a condition, unfortunately, not widely recognized by the medical profession, as it not an "established" medical condition. You may want to research under this condition or Dr. John Sarno, who is and expert in this field of medicine. There are some very informative YouTube video clips (7) of an extensive interview with Dr. Sarno.
329994 tn?1301666848  Chronic fatigue syndrome  Depression  Endometriosis  Headaches  Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)  Lupus  Osteoarthritis  Post-traumatic stress disorder  Restless legs syndrome  Rheumatoid arthritis Obviously, there is more on the Mayo Clinic website, but I do believe I have made my point. There is no excuse for a doctor that specializes in the above co-existing conditions to tell me that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia is “all in my head”.
Avatar n tn I believe your doctor is recommending epidural steroid injections. These injections are done when prior conservative treatment has failed to produce significant relief of pain. They are given under fluoroscopy (radiologic magnification to be sure the needle is postioned properly). The anesthetic is accompanied by a steroid medication with the expectation of providing longer pain relief.
Avatar m tn You have to go really slow and build up the shoulder muscles so the affected ligaments and tendons don't have to work so hard. Regular anti-inflammatory meds are also essential so you don't develop osteoarthritis, but don't take them without checking dosage with your doctor. If you do have surgery at some point, you have to do the rehab work or you might as well not bother. Shoulder PT was in many ways worse than the rehab for cervical fusion surgery for me, but I got through it.
4494800 tn?1355444091 maybe around 7 years old(am 19 turning 20), i've made a bad habit of always grinding my teeth when doing anything tedious... i.e. playing video games, taking a hard test, solving a difficult puzzle.. whatever. Is it possible to develop a TMJ issue from doing this all those years? Two weeks ago i started experiencing a lot of pressure in my left ear accompanied by a pain that i thought to be in the inner portion of my ear. I went to the doctor thinking that I had an ear infection of some sort.

Avatar n tn It is like my vision ain't 100% and also i am suffering with like a pressure in my head sometimes it is a weird feeling. 1840891 tn?1431551393 This article is discussing factors concerning people on treatment. However, some of it may spill over into the area of people who have sustained SVR. Mitochondrial Free Radicals, Antioxidants, Nutrient Substances, and Chronic Hepatitis C I especially took note of the following section of the article, which is near the end. It mentions liver histological improvement: 7.6.
Avatar n tn //www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLYsnD3JHfA on how to do the test. Really it could be a lot of things, arthritis being a big one, bursitis, and tendonitis. I have all three in my shoulder, no fun at all. I'm sorry they haven't been able to find anything. Sometimes a skilled physical therapist can do some tests and give you a good guess as to what it may be. I know it's very frustrating when they can't figure out what it is. I hope you get some answers!
Avatar m tn See if you can talk to the doctor that ordered the CT about the results and following up with treatment. You may need oxygen treatment. Do you feel exhausted all the time, short of breath, etc.? Any fever now?
579125 tn?1251579865 As of 8/20/08 my AST/ALT is still high about 140/240. He says I should begin treatment now. He wants me to try a new drug they are testing at Scripts in San Diego, Calif. but he doesn't know the name of it, I will have to wait for them to contact me to see if they will except me in the program and if I choose to do it. It would be the IFN/Riba and the new drug. He says if I don't treat it is very possible for me to have liver problems within 5 yrs.
4226456 tn?1354123528 (early) due to side effects and now I am experiencing joint pain, stiffnes that started a couple months after treatment. When I sit for any period of time, my hips are so stiff and my feet are stiff too. My feet feel like they can't hold me up. Ambulation is not so easy. After a few moments of being up on my feet and walking the discomfort and stiffness goes away. I am also experiencing wrist pain, carpel tunnel type symptoms in one hand that I dont use much for writing or anything.
Avatar f tn After being told I had a ganglion cyst in the acetabulum, possibly torn labrum in the hip joint and osteoarthritis I was told I needed hip replacement, another doc then said he could fix the problem with arthroscopic surgery and bone graft. Had surgery Dec 2006 - not a great experience, could write a book titled 'never have surgery on Friday afternoon' but that's another story! Have not been able to walk well since the surgery - lots of pain in both legs - upper thighs and groin and knees.
551343 tn?1506834118 They treated my feet with hot packs and strapping, and even though i was screaming for them to stop, they continued the treatment. I then sufered a few more days to a week of restless nights, painkillers and ice packs to help me to sleep. I then consulted with my GP and he didn't know what it was who then referred me to a Rhumertologist who also didnt know what to do for me. He put me on to high dosages of Naprosen (NSAIDs), 1000mg to 1750 mg per day.
1852058 tn?1320162300 prior to new year my spouse was very successful business owner of 30+ yrs, which unfortunately has changed a lot of whether I see my doctor 1x month or quarterly. I come in peach,so that my particular treatment of FM is the best I can for now. Thanks all so much for ur advice, don't stop,we all need to learn & the only stupid question,is not asking it......
476246 tn?1418874514 Hi Marcia, Sounds like osteoarthritis to me. I have it in most of the joints in my body, and while it was annoying before, it is really wearing me down now. Joint pain seems to be often aggravated by Tx, at least for me. In fact, the head, neck, shoulder and spine aches are the most devastating thing about these meds, which I've now been on for 47 weeks. Don't get me wrong - the foggy headed, short tempered, itchy skinned, thin haired stuff are no picnic either.
Avatar m tn This bacteria is truly bizzare but has been proven to exist in all forms. Youtube a video of Dr Lida Mattman and her work w/ Lymes bacteria and "stealth pathogens" She was Harvard trained, PHD, Nobel Prize Nominee in Immunology/Virology and taught for over 35 years. researchers too cadaver brain samples from Yale and sequenced them for Lyme Borrelia Burgdorferri bacteria. The cadavers belonged to ALS, Lupus, MS, Sjorgens, hashimotos, etc diaged patients.

590279 tn?1286339622 CT brain is also useful if a brain injury is suspected to be the cause of vertigo. The choice of treatment will depend on the diagnosis. Pls consult a physician to find the causative factor as treatment will depend on the same. Do keep us posted on how you are doing.
211940 tn?1267884866 once a week to physical therapy, twice a week to acupuncture, 600mg Advil 3-times a day and ice as often as I can remember. The physical therapy is minimal stretching. It is the most frustrating thing but it does seem to be getting better - I've been suffering for appx 4 months, I still have pain at night, but it's getting a little better.
Avatar n tn I had the scope because of osteoarthritis of the knee with severe osteoarthritis of the patellofemoral joint and was hoping the surgery would buy me a few more years to work. This was a big mistake because I am in more pain now than before the surgery.
