3202871 tn?1352133377 ------------------------------------- Did you have another viral load drawn at 24 weeks after end of treatment, in late May or early June? And did that 24 weeks post end of treatment VL come back UND? I ask because I am basing my response on you attaining SVR. "How long will it take me to feel normal again??" --------------------------------- The time it takes to feel "normal" again varies from person to person.
Avatar n tn Tina, I can't help you with the question of if you get osteo effects from treatment, but I can tell you that I am on Actonel along with doing treatment. I developed osteoperosis at 42 years old and before treatment. I think that based on my experience, I would say that osteo effects (I also have osteoarthritis) may come from the hcv, not the treatment for hcv. That would just be my guess.
Avatar n tn weather changes or i get sick.. my legs and joints ache. this never happened before treatment. While on treatment.. i thgouht my legs were going to fall off and my back would break I ached sooo bad. I thought i would be free of this since i sucessfully completed treatement and was undetectable after 1 year post treatment. But i still suffer with the ache joints. 159785 tn?1276229625 I was nervous about the steroid injection too, but everyone at the clinic was SO nice, they didn't even make me undress, and it went very fast since they do these all day long and have it down. It didn't hurt very much at all, either, just a little stinging from the anesthetic and pressure from the injection, and the doctor talked me all the way through the procedure, so no suprises. The xray tech held my hand all through the 5 minutes or so it took, and that part was the best!
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar f tn She describes being on the NIH advisory board for the Klempner study, which is used to deny long term treatment to Lyme patients and how the researchers and the NIH betrayed the people's trust. http://www.news-medical.net/news/20120831/Study-reports-flaws-in-design-analysis-and-interpretation-of-Lyme-disease.
1211850 tn?1266938568 I had used Lexapro throughout treatment, and stopped at the same time as treatment was completed; this might have been premature, and contributed to my post treatment depression. Now, nearly 1.5 years afterwards, everything is back to normal, as far as I can tell. I have type 2 diabetes; this actually is better in terms of management; I no longer require insulin, although I still take oral anti-diabetic pills.
Avatar f tn I would not recommend surgery while undergoing treatment for Hep C. Treatment drugs will lower his white count and likely cause some anemia, both of which could make surgery more risky. Also, depending upon the exact stage of his liver damage, a surgeon may or may not be willing to do the surgery. Surgery can cause the liver to decompensate (stop working properly), so usually a surgeon will need a hepatologist to approve the patient for surgery before agreeing to do it.
1293616 tn?1272327810 I will be starting treatment on thursday and i am quite nervous about the side effects. Can anyon let me know what to expect?
Avatar n tn It is certainly nice to be able to share my experiences with this disease/treatment. About 7 or 8 years ago I was treated for 18 months with Interferon, but the virus multiplied with a vengence. I was then put on Peg-Intron for another 18 months. I've had 0 virus load for about 3 years now. I'm experiencing so many spinal problems. I have a herniated disc and several bulging discs for no justifiable reasons.
Avatar f tn I have been to numerous specialist, my primary, and even an herbalist. My rheumatologist has now diagnosed me with osteoarthritis and fibrous dysplasia, and mentioned I am not sick enough for a full Lupus diagnosis? I have a positive ANA which continues to climb, C-protein tests continue to get worth, I am not registering any calcium or vitamin D - spite me taking supplements - and my white blood cell count is increasing after every set of blood work. But.... Not sick enough...
Avatar f tn Arthritis is a pretty easy diagnosis. Have you had blood work for rheumatoid factor? Xrays for osteoarthritis?
1183618 tn?1277368706 Pray, research, and demand thorough treatment. The only reason I discovered these problems was because I decided they would not find out what my illness was on autopsy. The doctors, unfortunately, is not ALWAYS looking at you as an individual, but as a textbook case. My endocrinologist (2nd in 4 months) prescribed 50,000 I.U. 2 times a week for 4 weeks and then it decreases to times a week for 4 weeks.
475586 tn?1225027354 My knees do have osteoarthritis in them--I had an MRI. I also have 2 herniated discs in my neck and kyphosis. My sister has RA, so I thought I had it also, but the doctors say no. I have a rheumatologist who is very nice, although most of the treatments I've been getting for fibro are not doing much. He seems sure that other than my knees and my neck, what I have is fibromyalgia. I have pain all the time, aching and soreness and also the sharp, stabbing pains.
16888441 tn?1452159257 Orthopedics surgery and treatments may help or repair damage to hip joints caused by traumatic injuries, fractures or osteoarthritis conditions. Such treatments may require surgical procedures to replace broken joints with partial or total artificial joints, as well as the use of pins or braces to hold bone sections together.
Avatar n tn Osteoarthritis, Ligament damage, Meniscus damage or Patello-femoral disorder. Your symptom of pain at the joint line is the result of a collateral ligament or meniscus problem (or both) until proven otherwise. When did your pain begin, what were you doing at the time, and what were the initial symptoms? Your other symptom of feeling of grinding and grating is characteristic of osteoarthritis. What is the quality of your pain (sharp, shooting, dull, etc.)?
Avatar f tn possible osteoarthritis.. I had bone spurs diagnosed prior to treatment in both feet but that is not kicking in.... Avatar n tn We have seen the oncologist twice now and although he was nice, he was very quick. He has recommended chemotherapy injections one time a month for 4 months, followed by 6 weeks of radiation. My grandmother is in very good health, other than having osteoarthritis. We also have an appt with the radiation oncologist in 2 weeks. My questions are if the recommendations are appropriate? Should she need more cylces of chemotherapy?
Avatar m tn I just never went back to get further treatment for this problem in the past up until now. Good luck and i hope this helps you at least a lil.
Avatar n tn I went through the year of treatment. So my lungs have been put to test I would say. I was hospitalized for two weeks. And have returned a couple of nights do to complications. Like high blood pressure, big time body cramps, and a high fever. I was sent home on oxygen. My question is. I would like to know if I'll be ever to run again with my three grandchildren? They are really all I care about.
Avatar f tn Ask them to explain how these can become painful with osteoarthritis. Then ask for a treatment plan -- how do they intend to treat your mother?
3242225 tn?1348340121 So severe that I had to begin Lyrica in 2005 and it doesn't rid me of it, just enables me to function. Anyway, I am on a clinical trial and began treatment Apr. 19. By week 2 I was UND. Finished the 3 months of treatment July 9. Just found out today that 4 weeks after finishing the study meds I am UND. BUT I still have all the same symptoms. Study Dr. said it takes months and months to see improvement if it is connected to the Hep C which I contracted at age 18. I am 60 now.
559803 tn?1215910490 This is why you may hear of Syvisc as a 'motor oil' for the knee joint Numerous studies have been performed in the past decade to assess the effectiveness of Synvisc as a treatment for osteoarthritis. However, no clear understanding of how well Synvisc injections perform has emerged. Early studies of Synvisc were performed on too few patients and the follow-up period was limited to a short time. Some studies showed a benefit of Synvisc injections, primarily in reduction of pain.
548668 tn?1394190822 An x-ray shows some degeneration at my neck with spur, 'early osteoarthritis' Mmmmmm I don't have problems anywhere else in my body. My physio says it's my posture and after two weeks of torturous exercises I am getting great relief and making huge improvements... 12 years of sitting incorrectly at a PC had taken its toll. Lack of using a PC as much during tx probably made my muscles even slacker for my return to work and the load went on the neck, with poor posture and stress combined..
Avatar n tn Results of a multicenter study. J Shoulder Elbow Surg 2003;12: 207 to213.
678069 tn?1254426377 Well, I figured I'd give a bit of an update on my situation, and try to get some insight in the process... I completed 45 weeks of treatment (rapid responder), 1a, VL of 6 million, etc etc... My last post was a few months ago, and was because I was having lingering aching and pain in different parts of my body. That was almost three months post treatment. Well, I just had my 6 month post treatment bloodwork and I am clear.
1388999 tn?1370046414 Deramaxx is a cox-II inhibitor like human Celebrex that worked the best for my dogs with osteoarthritis and one with hip dysplasia. Rimadyl is cheaper and worked fine for early symptoms but once they reached 10 or 11 years of age it just wasn't as effective. Tramadol (Ultram) is a pseudo-narcotic that can be used for pain in dogs. It's mild enough that most vets don't have a problem dispensing it for home use. You won't know until you ask your vet.
Avatar n tn I have polyrheumatica and so did my sister, It is no fun and is very hard to tell if it is the fibromyalgia or the PMR.
