1378884 tn?1315509445 It can be injected directly into a joint to ease pain and swelling, given in an intramuscular injection or taken orally to quiet an overall RA flare-up, inhaled to help asthma and COPD patients breathe better, and more. My mom takes injections in her lower back to temporarily ease pain. My guess is you have a low back injury that is irritating the sciatic nerve, which travels down the back of your hip and down your leg.
7486852 tn?1410355784 I have osteoarthritis in my knees but I need a to have my hips, wrists/hands and back looked at as well the pain is disabling.. The pain in my feet, shoulders, and ribs are more of an uncomfortable feeling than actual pain, although it does get worse with movement, and the other places that hurt, hurt constantly even if I am just sitting, standing, or lying down, although lying down is when its the least painful.
Avatar m tn 54yr old female, have had this chronic lower back pain that radiates to hip area.I do have arthritis in lower back and hip,but the meds for it does nothing.I stretch every night before bed and every morning before getting out to no avail.I look like I'm 90 yrs old after a pain full ten minutes of trying to get out of bed.I have to inhale to stand up straight(omg the pain) but once I pee and get into kitchen for coffee I'm fine. The only doctor I haven't seen is a nerve doctor.
Avatar n tn The strange thing is when it does get worse the pain always radiates up my back not down. In 10 years I have had 2 MRIs on my lower back and they always find nothing. I am a very active person stretching everyday (because of my lower back) and using an elliptical machine for 30min/ 3 times a week for 6 yrs around 480 calories each time. I also walk the dog for an hour each weekday and stretch during this walk.
941625 tn?1263585382 I did six rounds of chemo and 33 radiation treatments. I have had chronic and horrible lower back pain ever since. I have been seeing a rheumatologist for this, and he found some arthritis and fused vertebraes. He says he's not sure why my back hurts though all the time and just keeps me on a low dose of percocet. The problem is it isn't managing my pain and I can't stand this. Does anyone else have chronic pain in this area following treatment? If so, what are your docs and you doing to treat?
Avatar n tn I thought I had pulled a muscle in my lower back on the right side. My family has a history of kidney problems so I ask the doctor to do a urine specimen to rule out a kidney infection so she did. That came back fine. A few weeks later the pain continued. I went back to the doctor and she did blood work. All the blood work came back good but I still hurt. All she did was give me pain pills which do not help. It hurts when I lay on my side or when I try to get out of bed.
Avatar m tn My sister, 61 years old, has scoliosis and severe osteoarthritis in her lower back. She endures debilitating pain. Since she is an alcoholic, she is not a candidate for traditional pain killers or opioids. 1. Would Baclofen be a possible treatment for managing her pain? 2. Is it possible that Baclofen might have a secondary, off-label, benefit of being a possible treatment for the alcoholism?
13359581 tn?1429615254 It never occurred that something must have happened fro landing on it many years ago until my 4th pregnancy 5 years ago when I started having lower back pain through tailbone and down my legs to knees...terrible pain worsened when taking steps on right foot. It then went away after a couple excruciating days....
Avatar n tn The pain also goes down my left leg and is now in my lower left back. When I don't have shooting pains in my groin, there is a dull ache. Went to the DR. today and she thinks I may have kidney stones. Could this be ovarian cyst? The pains increase during ovulation and during my period. I have had them for the last several months and my periods have been irregular. I have no constipation. Has anyone had these symptoms?
Avatar n tn I swear I have way more pain now and am just waiting for an MRI again to see what is going on with my hip and lower back. My son 29 now has spinal stenosis also and going threw he......I do not know what to tell him to do because he sees me and is scared he will end up like this. I had three neuro surgeons tell me I had to have surgery because it had spread quite fast and could hardly walk. Good luck to you and will let you know how my hip or what ever is going on.
Avatar m tn The wallet causing you to sit off center and the driving with your legs straight out forces you to pull on your lower back instead of pulling the seat closer using more of your knees than back might show you some relief. In 2001 I was looking at neck surgery with spinal degenerative disease. Also a Chiroprator had slightly ruptured a disk in the middle of my back and I had a developed a bone spur at the surgery area of my lower back. I was a mess. Now I need no surgery.
Avatar m tn But they havent prescribed any more. I suffer from back and leg pain every second of the day. my girl freinds leaving me because all I do any more is come home from work and lay in bed because of the pain and discomfront. I have cut my hours from work from 60 hours a week to only fourty. The neurosurgeon told me that if I dont get any releif in the next 6 months that a spinal fusion will be optional.
Avatar f tn Basically my jaw kept popping in and out of place more frequently since my second go at having braces, which finished up back a year ago or so but it's been getting progressively worse, notably since August I can't open my mouth properly anymore and no I haven't been diagnosed officially by a doctor, last time I went with two complaints, jaw and heart so she told me my heart one was more serious and ignored my jaw.
3202871 tn?1352133377 ------------------------------------- Did you have another viral load drawn at 24 weeks after end of treatment, in late May or early June? And did that 24 weeks post end of treatment VL come back UND? I ask because I am basing my response on you attaining SVR. "How long will it take me to feel normal again??" --------------------------------- The time it takes to feel "normal" again varies from person to person.
Avatar n tn Tina, I can't help you with the question of if you get osteo effects from treatment, but I can tell you that I am on Actonel along with doing treatment. I developed osteoperosis at 42 years old and before treatment. I think that based on my experience, I would say that osteo effects (I also have osteoarthritis) may come from the hcv, not the treatment for hcv. That would just be my guess.
Avatar f tn I have tried wheat bags in the past, is this the same as the arthritis pad? I have pain going down the backs of the legs, lower back pain, upper back stiffness and sometimes pain in the thighs and hips, depending on the day. I don't think my doctor realizes the pain I'm in as all he will give me is Tramal 50mg. I am waiting on a neural blockade bilaterally and haven't worked in 2 months. Are you working? Im hoping to get a job a few days a week where I can sit and move around!!
Avatar f tn What would cause an 18 month old lower back pain? she has not fell or hit it on anything. Thank you!
159785 tn?1276229625 I guess I'll go back to the PCP (who already told me he doesn't feel comfortable treating thyroid) and maybe get the PVC's reevaluated too. Perhaps an internist can manage the thyroid?

748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar m tn I was a professional dancer on Broadway for 10 years and now suffer from Degenerative Disc Disease. I have pain in my lower back, but the pain down the ciatic path of my right leg is often unbearable. After two years of trying EVERY other option (epidural injections, nerve ablasions, massage, accupuncture, muscle activation technique, physical therapy, even a 3 level discectomy (8 weeks ago)), nothing has helped releive the pain. My pain management doctor (Dr.
Avatar n tn (I have symptoms of a pinched nerve in the lower back and am in constant pain). Should I get another opinion? My specialist is pushing me to have surgery and I am only 60 years of age. I don't like the odds of success with these options.
Avatar n tn Often, pain in one set of joints, like your hips or knees, alters your gait to the point that it puts stress on other joints - knees, ankles, feet, lower back, etc. So if you had some kind of slight congenital deformity in your hip that went undiagnosed, over the the damage transmits to other joints. First of all, joint replacement is not as uncommon for folks our age as it used to be. I had my first hip replaced at age 37, the second at 40.
Avatar f tn I am an obese woman with osteoarthritis in knees and have some lower back prob in past. She took x-rays, went over them with me, did a full history, range of motion, etc. She said i had some veterbrae outof allignment and suggested coming twice a week for a total of 36-48 treatments with evaluations all the way through. When you come in you have to identify your pain level that day. I wasn't in pain all the time, but after a weeks of treatment I had severe muscle pain in legs.
572823 tn?1217212689 These pilot studies of MSM have suggested some benefits, particularly for treatment of osteoarthritis. Further studies would be needed to test the usefulness of the chemical as a medical therapy. Osteoarthritis: After several reports that MSM helped arthritis in animal models, a double-blind, placebo-controlled study suggested that 1500 mg per day MSM (alone or in combination with glucosamine sulfate) was helpful in relieving symptoms of knee osteoarthritis (Usha and Naidu 2004). Avatar f tn I would not recommend surgery while undergoing treatment for Hep C. Treatment drugs will lower his white count and likely cause some anemia, both of which could make surgery more risky. Also, depending upon the exact stage of his liver damage, a surgeon may or may not be willing to do the surgery. Surgery can cause the liver to decompensate (stop working properly), so usually a surgeon will need a hepatologist to approve the patient for surgery before agreeing to do it.
Avatar f tn I have chronic lower back pain which stops me having a life , I also have osteoarthritis
Avatar n tn Well day 5 of being back on Lexapro... at 3/4 tablet dose in the morning (7.5 mg) and have to say that the nervousness and edgeyness appears to be subsiding a bit... didn't have to take a Clonazapam (klonopin) yesterday to take the edge off which I am considering to be a good sign since I had to the day before. Gonna stick at this level till Wed until I see my doc and then the plan is to go up to a full 10 mg tablet for a week or so and then begin ramping up again 1.25, 1.
