7486852 tn?1410355784 I have osteoarthritis in my knees but I need a to have my hips, wrists/hands and back looked at as well the pain is disabling.. The pain in my feet, shoulders, and ribs are more of an uncomfortable feeling than actual pain, although it does get worse with movement, and the other places that hurt, hurt constantly even if I am just sitting, standing, or lying down, although lying down is when its the least painful.
1459410 tn?1285698605 I just found this forum, though I've been a member of the chronic pain forum for months now. I developed osteoarthritis young. I can remember back to my twenties and feeling it on and off, though it was mild. My mom was debilitated by it and on my dad's side, I had two aunts crippled by it. I'm 48 now and have it in my hands, hips, knee, back and ankle. The worst is my hand. I won't go into too much detail as it's a very long story but I think I have the details in my profile.
587787 tn?1218808059 I would suggest you to do some neck exercises daily and apply heat and ice therapy to the affected part. For migraines the best treatment is avoidance of trigger. You can also take magnesium supplements which have been known to prevent migraine attacks. Bio feedback therapy is another option.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar f tn I have had pain in my low back and hip for over a year. I have been treated for sciatica, piriformis syndrome and SI dysfunction. An Xray of my hip shows that I have acetabular retroversion, which basically means my hip sockets aren't aligned properly with my joint. MRI results show that my hip joint is degenerating (early onset of osteoarthritis), I have tendonosis of my iliopsoas muscles, and grade 1 strains of my adductors and quadratus femorus.
Avatar f tn I am not in pain, I am uncomfortable because I feel the constant need to move, stretch, and crack my neck and back. I also feel it in my arm and hand when my back is acting up. I think it has something to do with my nerves, I just don't know what...

I was diagnosed by an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in spinal treatments. I began an excercise routine and found the pain too great to excercise. I have had MRI w/contrast and spinal X-rays. Avatar n tn Well day 5 of being back on Lexapro... at 3/4 tablet dose in the morning (7.5 mg) and have to say that the nervousness and edgeyness appears to be subsiding a bit... didn't have to take a Clonazapam (klonopin) yesterday to take the edge off which I am considering to be a good sign since I had to the day before. Gonna stick at this level till Wed until I see my doc and then the plan is to go up to a full 10 mg tablet for a week or so and then begin ramping up again 1.25, 1.

Proper sleep and walking positions and abdominal and back exercises can help maintain your upright posture. Most people with ankylosing spondylitis don't need surgery. However, your doctor may recommend surgery if you have severe pain or joint damage, or if your hip joint is so damaged that it needs to be replaced.
Avatar n tn I have had back pain similar to Sciteach04's. I was in a MVA 3 years ago and have had treatment for my back, knee's, and neck. A semi truck hit me. I have had multiple knee operation's, and all this time my lower back has been killing me. The doctor's kept saying to not worry about fixing my back until they had my knee's repaired. Now my back has been hurting all along but about 4 months ago the pain started getting worse.

Avatar n tn I came across this forum while trying to do some research on various causes for pain in the mid back area. I had an MRI done yesterday and will know tihe results on Monday. I can't say that I haven't thought the worst similar to others. But I do want y'all to know that there are many reasons an individual can be experiencing pain in the mid-back spinal area which is the Thoracic Spine. I'm not a doctor or even in the health field.
Avatar n tn I would be anything from schoolwork, to internet browsing, to watching tv, to eating, to even just laying down in the dark and I would get these intense sharp pains on the back of my head behind my right ear. This pain only occurs in this location and it comes and goes. At first the pains were simply a nuesance as they would come and go and weren't that bad, but lately they're getting worse causing me to stop what I'm doing until they go away.
1183618 tn?1277368706 I was still sick about 3 months later. Avatar n tn We had to modify a lot of exercises that pull on your back - especially core exercises because they use the same muscles to stablize your back that are hurting! Oh - and no lifting weights without doctor supervision! You'll make it worse, even with the 3lb weights I was using to get started. Chiropractic care made my symptoms worse (years ago), and I'd try accupuncture (it's about all I haven't tried yet), but insurance doesn't pay for it. Sometimes exercise hurts, sometimes it helped.

Avatar n tn This has happened while in the mall and walking from the car to the store and realizing I forgot something and then going back to the car. I have no pain when I first get up or down. Seems to only come if I walk very far. I am 57 and I am over weight. What can cause this in both hips.
Avatar m tn Back in July 2013, I developed pain in both thumbs while playing my banjo. I had recently started new playing techniques on the banjo with both hands. I am 48 years old. I've been to a hand therapist and she believe it is some type of repetitive stress injury and since then I've only play a little and have used splints and exercises etc. I feel things have been getting better but slowly. Recently, I went to a sports medicine hand doctor and he had said I have osteoarthritis.

Avatar m tn Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! Lumbago is basically low back ache due to spinal or muscle problems namely spondylitis, osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc diseases etc. There is pain in the lower back along with pain along one or both legs depending on which nerve is getting pinched. Any misuse of back or overuse by any procedure can worsen the symptoms. Treatment is correction of the cause.

Avatar n tn Medicines, physiotherapy, exercises and drugs to suppress immunity are the mainstay of treatment. A back pain or a referred pain due to a nerve pinched that is worse on lying down or felt mainly on lying down can also be due to a tumor within the spinal cord. A neurological examination can pinpoint the site. A CT scan or a MRI will be surely required. It can also be osteoarthritis. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar n tn The pain seems to spread throughout your body because, like the song says, everything in your body is connected to everything else. Back pain makes you unconsciously alter the way you walk, stand, sit, even lie down. Back pain can cause your hip to hurt, which in turn causes knee stress, and on down the line until you seem to hurt clear down to your toes.

If you do breathing exercises begin each thing I mentioned with gentle breathing exercises. If you do not breath properly, go on internet or pick up a book at the library, used book store, or book store on breathing exercises. I have fibromyalgia, chronic pain, 7 surgeries on my back and neck. These all have helped me over the years.
700223 tn?1318169294 Additionally, a 2008 study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that participants who received acupuncture therapy for muscle soreness 24 and 48 hours after they exercised to exhaustion reported significantly less pain than people who didn't receive the treatment. In the most basic explanation, the underlying premise of acupuncture lies in understanding the energetic system of the body, which consists of Chi.
Avatar f tn Aside from weight reduction and avoiding activities that exert excessive stress on the joint cartilage, there is no specific treatment to halt cartilage degeneration or to repair damaged cartilage in osteoarthritis for your stage of problem. Applying local heat before and cold packs after exercise can help relieve pain and inflammation for you.
