Osteoarthritis symptoms wrist

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis symptoms wrist

Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
Avatar n tn can anyone tell me if osteoarthritis is a dominoing effect on the spine..to reach the base of neck to shoulder pain up to wrist..occasionaly painful. also have ddd in l5-s1 lumbar..leg spasms, and ackes.can't do daily activities without pain..simple things. many different symptoms have started since... and does thing impair me at 30's from working.
Avatar m tn However, you will not be able to bend your wrist after the operation. Arthritic conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis, fractures, dislocations, or long-time instability of the wrist bones can destroy all or most of the cartilage that forms the smooth surface of the many wrist bones. When that happens, the wrist becomes painful and loses motion When the pain and functional impairment keeps you from your daily activities, you may seek the advice of your physician.
1091980 tn?1295545031 Currently I experience pain with almost everything I do, doing up bottons, pulling up socks, writing, using the computer, operating the TV control makes my wrist ache as does my hand flexed over the chair. Holding objects raised makes my wrist ache quickly. I also have stinging pain in the centre of my palm, three fingers, and running up the front of my thumb as well as three inches up the inside of my arm. This area looks a little swollen.

152264 tn?1280358257 Is this arthritis? I will get sudden, painful shifts in my right wrist, but the pain goes away after a few seconds as the wrist seems to ease itself back into place. (No visible shifts, just felt internally.) Previously this only happened in one small spot in my hand--at the bony prominence that's about an inch and a half away, in a straight line, from the crease between thumb and forefinger.
Avatar n tn the pain i had came from bone on bone which the doctor said i had osteoarthritis which came from my cartilage being destroyed. my wrist was so painful that it hurt to lift a full cup of coffee, i was waking in the middle of the night from pain. I would suggest asking your doctor that you would like a MRI with contrast (dye). that should clearly tell your doctor or the radiologist if you have any soft tissue damage to your hand.
Avatar n tn two years ago i hurt my wrist snowboarding......i didnt see a doctor until a couple months had gone by........a few doctors, mri's xrays and arthrograms later i found the wrist doctor for the lakers. he came to the conclusion that i tore a small ligament in my wrist causing the instability and pain at the base of my thumb and wrist. my grip isnt too bad but it hurts to do anything, especially exerting pressure with my hand.
Avatar f tn She has, for the last month had intermitent pain in her right wrist, feeling of numbness but not totally numb from the wrist bone to the ring and pinky finger but only on that side of her wrist, inflammation on the outside of her wrist, with inflammation of the hand, and she cannot grip or hold anything, and she can feel heat but not coldness on the outside of her hand. I would like to know what could be wrong with her. She cannot go to the doctor because of insurance issues.
Avatar f tn Then all of a sudden, my shoulder joints hurt, then my elbow, my wrist, and my other knee. they rarely hurt all at the same time and the pain is random. sometimes it is dull pain and sometimes it is sharp, shooting pain. i have went to the dr with it and he says that it sounds like a virus in my joints, and prescribed motrin (which i don't really take, since it only masks the pain). This was over a month ago and nothing has changed, so I'm doubting that this is what it is.
Avatar f tn I've been having a problem with my dominant hand/arm for over two years and cannot seem to get an orthopedist to take it seriously. The symptoms started and have progressed gradually. The problem primarily affects the pinky finger side of my hand/arm. I get sharp, shooting pains across the back of that side of the wrist that run up into the back of the hand and into the lower arm. Sometimes the pain goes all the way across the elbow into my upper arm. But it never goes into the shoulder.
1477978 tn?1289505731 My knees are still a problem along with my wrists failing on me (also w/ganglions), wrist, finger, and some back pain. I already had MRI on right shoulder and have an impingement in it. Severe stomach cramps since young age and still not diagnosed. Mostly diarreha since young age, if not that, then constipation...never seldom ever regular. I have an extreme craving for sweets. I'm very, very intolerent to the cold. The list of the common 11 signs of Lupus...
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with many things which have cross over diagnosis, many of which seem to be very similar. Why do I feel I need to be the doctor when I explain my symptoms with no response? I fear I will not be able to advocate for myself much longer. There must be a way go separate these conditions. I have osteoporosis (fractures of ribs times 3 three) fx l wrist, fx l elbow, fx thoracic vert. x two.
1216899 tn?1288573925 With all the sites out there that have info on Vitamin D, their just doesn't seem to be one that has all the symptoms that can accompany vitamin d deficiency. I'm going to list my symptoms, so that others may have some insight, in layman's terms. I hope anyone else with the deficiency would also post theirs.
527589 tn?1301681778 Since you have bone spurs, osteoarthritis and cervical stenosis, the symptoms are being aggravated. Please get an MRI of the brain. In fact you may need a series of MRI to diagnose to rule out MS. I think you have not consulted a neurologist so far and that is why you have been made to run around. Please take the MRI reports of brain, pelvic region and spine and consult a good neurologist.
956292 tn?1334058469 Jibs - you have had Trigeminal Neuralgia and now motor spasms of the thumb (silly, ALL spasms are motor), but I meant to distinguish the spasms from sensory symptoms. So you have had symptoms that show Dissemination (spread) over Time and Space. These are two requirements for MS. Are you saying you have no CNS lesions on MRI? You could be treated NOW with a DMD if the reasonable mimics of MS have been excluded under the guidelines of a CIS - Clinically Isolated Syndrome.
873610 tn?1239918613 in fact my symptoms are worse. Still have numbness/ tingling/ shooting pain/ and I feel like I’ve lost strength in my right hand and I feel like I don’t even have a pinkie anymore! How can this be? I cannot seem to find a lot of information regarding post surgery complications or other possible diagnosis for this pain. I am only taking darvocet and that barely cuts through the pain. Is it possible that the nerve is inflamed? Or there is too much scar tissue?
Avatar n tn Hi Sebastiandelacroix- I am having some of the same symptoms as you and am wondering what it is also. I am interested in knowing if you have some of the others I have had...along with the involuntary twitching in my legs and numbness and tingling in my arms and hands I have had fatigue and migraines. My doc put me on a heart medication for my migraines and they have subsided for the most part but now the twitching and arm/hand probs have arisen.
Avatar n tn Of course those people do not have these symptoms! I think to all who have experienced these very disturbing symptoms on the heels of therapy, it is very clear and obvious that there is a connection to therapy. The pattern seems to run through at least 35% of the overall post-tx group who took the survey. I would like to see even larger surveys done, across the entire treatment population. I will bet the results are essentially the same.
Avatar n tn I can be tired after 12 hours sleep! Can I be suffering symptoms from my thallassemia. Does any one else feel the same way that I do? This is a little bit hard for me, but I don't want to complain.
Avatar f tn I recently had a nerve conduction tests done which should nerve compression on my C5 and C6. I had the nerve study done believing I had carpel tunnel syndrome (symptoms included arm pain, finger numbness, wrist pain, hand weakness).
617846 tn?1231556833 Went to my PCP today, TMI too much info. Had injctions in wrist about 10 days ago, recommends surgery soon. Also ordered an EMG/NVC for lower back to explain total numbness I am experiencing in mine legs/rear end. I have had this test on my wrists but not for my back. Oh and started me on Valium to cope with the depression /stress from my health. I thought the idea was to cure the ailments not just treat more and more symptoms.
Avatar m tn Hi, I currently have a shooting pain sent along the top of my left hand down my index finger if I rub (gently) my finger on the righthand side of my wrist. (Palm facing down) This started 2 weeks ago but there has been no change to my usual activities that might have caused this.
Avatar f tn Hi! I am not sure what your question is, but gout and osteoarthritis itself can cause ankle, wrist, shoulder and elbow stiffness. This can result in whole right arm stiffness. Lupus usually causes more generalized symptoms like fatigue, rashes, numbness, tingling, fever etc. It does not cause symptoms restricted to joints.
Avatar f tn The pain seems to be between the bone and skin, and spreads up the ankle sometimes. Last night my wrist hurt a little bit before bed. I woke up at 3 in the morning with pain up to my elbow. Sharp shooting pains and aching. I took a pain killer and eventually fell back asleep. Today my ankle and arm hurt. I don't know if the pain in my wrist and ankle are related, but I am starting to feel anxiety about it. thank you.
Avatar m tn Hello, A clinical examination is very essential for correct diagnosis and treatment of your symptoms. The common causes of your symptoms could possibly be ganglion cysts, rheumatoid arthritis, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis and gout. In rheumatoid arthritis there is morning stiffness, joint pains and nodules under the skin. Ganglion cysts arise from the capsule of a joint or the sheath of a tendon.
Avatar n tn Since the thumb twitches uncontrollably, symptoms could be due to carpal tunnel syndrome. In this the median nerve is compressed at the wrist in a place called the carpel tunnel. Symptoms begin with numbness and tingling of the first three or two fingers from the thumb side (twitch is also possible). Nerve conduction studies are quite diagnostic. Treatment is usually by splints and steroid injections. Surgery may be required in some cases.
Avatar f tn Hi, What other symptoms are present? Wrist pain may be attributed to sprain, strain, tendinitis, bursitis and arthritis. There are many types of arthritis. Osteoarthritis occurs with age and overuse while rheumatoid arthritis generally affects both wrists. Psoriatic arthritis accompanies psoriasis. It is best that you check with your doctor especially with you history of psoriasis. Take care and do keep us posted.
521161 tn?1212369304 I saw a wrist specialist who thought I had a TFCC tear but it appears to be focal PVNS in my wrist. I am currently waiting for my doctors to meet and make a plan on what they want to do. I am concerned because I thought PVNS was thought to only occur in ONE JOINT not multiple joints. Could this be something else? If so what are the possibilities? If it is PVNS are there any genetic disorders that make you more prone to this disease? Could I have it in other joints also?
Avatar m tn Recently developed unusual symptoms in my forearm. After returning to work I developed swelling on the upper inside, about three inches behind the wrist joint, over the edge of the bone. At first I thought it was just a bruise, but it didn't actually show bruising, just swelling and a little soreness, so not thinking much of it I continued working for the week (lifting, hammering).
