osteoarthritis

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my neck and lower back several years ago. I also have a scoliosis in the middle of my back. As the years have progressed, so has my pain. After being treated, occasionally, by my primary physician, he thought it was time to refer me to a pain specialist. The pain specialist sent me for a psychiatric evaluation and for X-rays/MRI.
Avatar f tn Have u been checked for a condition called cauda equina?
Avatar f tn 9 145lbs, Caucasian/South Asian Male I was diagnosed with having level 4 stress fractures in both of my femoral necks and level 2 stress fractures in each of my ankles, in November of 2016, I was near the end of basic training and due to what I'm assuming was these sprint exercises we did on the track, followed by shuttle sprints and then an 8 mile ruck ended up hurting me pretty bad. I was put on crutches and calcium pills until they were able to do all of the necessary tests.
Avatar n tn After having a surgery to fix on particular problem that left me with a whole different problem I went to three other osteo docs. They all advised me to have hip replacement due to osteoarthritis, but I didn't want to do that without trying every other avenue. I recently had a 'live blood analysis' and discovered a tiny organism called 'mycoplasma arthritides' was responsible for my problem. I was told that a trauma like my surgery couild have triggered the organism.
Avatar f tn An edema is a buildup of fluid. A bone marrow edema — often referred to as bone marrow lesion — occurs when fluid builds up in the bone marrow. Bone marrow edema is typically a response to an injury such as a fracture or conditions such as osteoarthritis. Bone marrow edema usually resolves itself with rest and physical therapy. Osteitis pubis is a condition in which there’s inflammation where the right and left pubic bones meet at the lower front part of the pelvis.
1021831 tn?1331605848 I had a question but I had forgotten to mention it earlier, I was mainly wondering if the problems I had would make my M.S. any worse, even tho it is quite mild. My fall was in jan.of 2012, on my butt, 2 fractures on the pubic bone, painful & stressful, in the last 11 years have had both hips replaced, osteoarthritis but also arthritis in other parts of the body, have had M.S. since 1978, think this will get better & not worsen the M.S.
Avatar f tn osteoarthritis, tendonitis, muscle pull and strain, femoral neck stress fractures, sports hernia or hidden/occult hernia of oblique aponeurosis, or Obturator or ilioinguinal nerve entrapment. You would need all or any of the following for diagnosis: Clinical examination by an orthopedic specialist, X-rays, blood tests, MRI or ultrasonnography. MRI of pelvis will not pick up hip pathology unless targeted at that. Hope this helps.
1021831 tn?1331605848 2005, osteoarthritis and 0n Jan. 08 2012 , lost my balance and fell on my butt on the bathroom ceramice floor, had x-reys 3 days later, showed nothing cracked or broken (was concerened about the hip repl, (thought I may have cracked or broke one) bit boy did it hurt.
Avatar f tn Bone marrow edema is excess collection of fluid that usually occurs in response to infection, inflammation or injury. Thus it is seen in fractures, ligament injuries, bone bruises (injury to bone without a fracture), synovitis (inflammation of the synovial membrane that lines the joints), osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, ischemia (decreased blood flow) and tumors. If you had a MRI of the shoulder joint, then probably ligament injuries and fractures are ruled out.
Avatar f tn I know that it sounds like a stupid and uneducated question, but the reason that I was wondering and that I asked is because this past late winter/early spring when I went into my flare, my left leg got REALLY weak. I couldn't stand on that leg or lift a 1 pound ankle weight. When I came out of the flare, my gait returned to normal and my leg was stronger but still weak. I returned to a lot of my normal activity which included 2 dance classes which ended for the season in early June.
Avatar f tn Impingement of the ankle joint between the bones of ankle and foot is another possibility. Osteoarthritis, gout and rheumatoid arthritis are the other possibilities. Bursitis can give a sudden onset pain. Dislocation or rupture of a tendon can also cause shooting pain. Stress fractures of medial malleolus, tarsal tunnel syndrome, and sinus tarsi syndrome (pain just front of lateral malleolus on the outer side of ankle) are the other possibilities.
Avatar f tn MRI says- severe bone bruising and bleeding, micro fractures of tibia, 2 complex menus all tears-anterior and posterior, grade2-3 cartilage thinning, fluid above knee and in knee behind patella, bathers cyst, ligament strain, some bone growth and early osteoarthritis. What the hell do I do- I am thinking lose weight, swim, take chondritin, glucosamine, vitamin c, see a knee surgeon... what I DONt want is a knee replacement. It is a bit stiff, swollen and aches.
Avatar f tn Six months later I was diagnosed with fractures in both heels and have been in two casts, crutches and another walking boot. I am still in pain! I just had an MRI that shows Marrow Edema in four bones of my foot. What does this mean? I do not see the Dr. again for two weeks! I can't be on my feet for any length of time with suffering excruciating pain!
Avatar f tn There must be a way go separate these conditions. I have osteoporosis (fractures of ribs times 3 three) fx l wrist, fx l elbow, fx thoracic vert. x two. Myofacial pain Myositis DDD entire spine with osteophytes osteoarthritis Cercical spine DDD facet joint Displaced vertebrae Facet joint arthralgia Had epidurals, blocks and rhizotomy reducing pain by about 90%.
Avatar n tn Well, yes, partial meniscectomy does increase the risk of osteoarthritis, especially in recreational runners. However, the actual risk varies from person to person. It depends on your family history, weight, other diseases you may have or develop, your foot wear, how you use the knee etc. Please discuss with your doctor. You doctor and physical therapist will be able to assess your risk and guide you regarding the best rehab and use of knee in your case. Take care!
Avatar f tn my physiotherapist recommended a sports medicine doctor who actually took some xrays standing up (made sense since most of my pain is upon standing)...he discovered 2 fractures at L3/4..he tried cortisone shots but didnt work and refered me to a surgeon. The surgeon is only giving me 50% odds that fusion will help me and wants me to try everything possible before committing to surgery so I am now going to a chiropractor...I hope she can help. Has anybody had a similar experience?

Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
