1378884 tn?1315509445 I also have a workplace injury, fell on sacrum and R hip last November. I am starting a course of prednisone for 30 days. Never had problems with hip, (pain is radiating to my foot) or back until I fell. Is the Doc trying to rule out RA or Osteo for my R hip? I understand that prednisone is a inflammation reducer and autoimmune suppressor. He found a deposit on the bone near hip as well. MRI tomorrow too.
1459410 tn?1285698605 I have tried acupuncture, which I thought helped some, herbal heat pack, ice, valium, ibuprofen and wear a flat-planed splint for my jaw osteoarthritis. I recently got an MRI after years of suffering and learned about disc displacement, one of them displaced all the time and it's torn. Pool exercise might help you some if they are joints that go underwater. And if you have knee arthritis, I saw on tv where I scientific study was done proving acupuncture can be a help.

Avatar n tn Bone cysts, which are areas of relative thinning of the bone, show up as hollow areas on the X-ray adjacent to the joint itself. A hip replacement will often be the treatment of choice if there is significant evidence of osteoarthritis.Otherwise bone grafting can be considered. In this, the cyst is scraped out with a special instrument called a curette. Donor tissue or bone chips are packed into the resulting depression to replace the fluid.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am 46 yrs old, male, ex-athlete (competitive level basketball) and live in London, England. A year ago I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis on my left hip during an arthroscopy and most of the joint cartilage is worn out. Take glucosamine tablets regularly. Even though my condition is not so advanced to take painkillers etc, I cannot do any sport, which is important to me (even at a light, amateur level) and walking start bothering me after a few hundered meters.
1388332 tn?1285350047 Have you checked with your Doctor at all concerning this pain in your Hip? You might be encountering the beginnings of Osteoarthritis in your Hip Joint. I've lived with that for the past 36 years. I've had 2 hip implants and I'm getting ready for a third in September. It would benefit you to make an appointment with your PCP (Family Doctor) and see what they think and depending what they discover from possibly some x-rays go on to either an Orthopedic Specialist or a Rheumatologist.
Avatar f tn I had this happen to me and it was caused from Osteoarthritis in my hip. It would cause the pain to radiate down my leg all the way to my toes as you are experiencing. I had to have a THR (Total Hip Replacement) done when I was 35 years old to get the pain taken care of. I've had 2 others since then, over a 30 year period of time. (the first one lasted for 26 years.) But it's my understanding that SI Joint disease can also do this. That's why you need to get it narrowed down.
1131208 tn?1260211546 I too feel as if I am leading the life of an 80 year old. Anyway, the small fracture inside my left hip { NOT a fracture of the hip BONE } did NOT show up on an x-ray !! A bone fracture will show up on an x-ray. When I sustained this fracture to a band of tissue inside my hip it barely even hurt I barely noticed it because it is an injury to soft tissue not bone. However, over time AVN and osteoarthritis can set in ..

Avatar f tn I broke that same leg pretty bad in 2003 and the length was checked many times for length. Haven't thought of that because of the hip. I'll have my Chiropractor check it on Monday. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn MRI results show that my hip joint is degenerating (early onset of osteoarthritis), I have tendonosis of my iliopsoas muscles, and grade 1 strains of my adductors and quadratus femorus. The pain is spreading from my buttock to my knee and midway up my back. I have tingling in my shins as well. There are days that I can not walk properly. I recently have had an injection in my SI joint, it did not help.
Avatar m tn This is associated with focal defects in the immediately adjacent articular cartilage of the femoral head and the acetabulum. Impression 1. Osteoarthritis of the right hip characterized by degenerative tearing of the labrum and focal defects in the articular cartilage. 2. The contour of the femoral head and the appearance of the acetabulum on the pelvis x-ray suggests that the patient is likely impinging due to both pincer and CAM type morphology.
1522912 tn?1292053850 The pain is worse when I rotate forward from the hips without bending my knees, and extends down the back/inside of my right hamstring, and around to the inside of my right kneww which also becomes swollen and tender on the inside of the knee (side of my knee closest to the inside of my left thigh). My right hamstring is very tight and painful. I have seen a sports medecine doctor and a physio, chiro and osteo, no one can help me.
233501 tn?1226478134 You hear the inevitable news that you have osteoarthritis of the hip joint. The only treatment that will relieve your pain is replacement of the hip joint…(www.hipresurfacingindia.com) This is the relentless jargon of patients suffering from osteoarthritis of the hip. The conventional hip replacement involves cutting the head of femur (thigh bone) and replacing it with a metal ball. The diseased acetabulum is replaced with a high density polyethylene cup.
3134561 tn?1342629375 When a patient’s hip fractures, it will have to be treated with hip replacement surgery to get rid of the severe chronic hip pain. One of the major causes of sudden hip pain is hip fracture. As people age, the possibility of having a fractured hip increases. This is because falls are more likely and bones become thinner, according to medical observers. Meanwhile, osteoporosis sufferers can get a fracture from simple, daily activities, not just from a big fall or injury.
991524 tn?1249345393 I got told that if i dont have surgry my bones will start grinding together which will cause me to have a full hip replacement at the age of 20. So, basically you're going to have surgry either sooner or later. It is not a major operation, usually just day surgery. I have been waiting 2 years and am finally having surgery next week. If i was you I would really consider having the operation.
Avatar n tn I am post treatment with Pegintron/ribavirin tx. Clear of virus for 13 months now. About 2-3 months after treatment I started getting hip, knee, foot and back pain which has continued to worsen over the months. At first, after getting off treatment, I felt good. I could walk a little ways and do a few things. It seems that as time goes on, I continue to get worse as far as joint pain and emotional stability. Like your wife, there are no supportive medical findings.
Avatar m tn This ball-socket joint is one of the largest and most important joint of the body. The causes of chronic hip pain is arthritis. Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and traumatic arthritis are most common reason for the pain. Or damage of lower body in an accident leading disability. The surgery is recommended by a surgeon and consultant on the basis of the pain and not by the age, but most of patients are between 50- 80 years.
3202871 tn?1352133377 ------------------------------------- Did you have another viral load drawn at 24 weeks after end of treatment, in late May or early June? And did that 24 weeks post end of treatment VL come back UND? I ask because I am basing my response on you attaining SVR. "How long will it take me to feel normal again??" --------------------------------- The time it takes to feel "normal" again varies from person to person.
Avatar n tn Tina, I can't help you with the question of if you get osteo effects from treatment, but I can tell you that I am on Actonel along with doing treatment. I developed osteoperosis at 42 years old and before treatment. I think that based on my experience, I would say that osteo effects (I also have osteoarthritis) may come from the hcv, not the treatment for hcv. That would just be my guess.
Avatar m tn -) The actual hip socket is right where the top of the femur turns in to meet the pelvis. This was a marvel of anatomy I learned when my doc told me I had about 80% bone on bone osteoarthritis in my left hip. I was 49 then (53 now). The "too young for hip replacement" thinking relates to a) Total hip replacement (THR) and b) The knowledge that total hip replacements last about 20 years. A THR requires that a lot of bone be removed.
Avatar m tn com/osteoarthritis/guide/arthritis-bursitis In the last section of this article, the last listing of symptoms of "something more serious than bursitis" is loss of motion. I cannot move my hip flexor in any way without inducing excruciatingly painful, uncontrollable spasms on the outside of my hip (the external hip rotator, I'm supposing). For several reasons, I believe this condition may have persisted beyond bursitis.

748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar f tn I saw my GP 3 months ago, who put me on a list to see an orthpaedics specialist. I had an X-ray of my hip Monday this week, and when I saw the consultant in charge, the hip seemed ok but told me that it had mild dysplasia. He also noted that the joints in my hip were very hyperflexible. For around 2 months I've had a lot of pain in my hip, sometimes crampy and sometimes really sharp, and it hurts even more with my periods.
Avatar f tn Hi, I went to a new chiropractor that uses the activator treatment method. I wasn't in pain all the time, but would find that without warning my hip would give out on me and I'd almost collapse in pain. The more walking I did the more often it would happen. I am an obese woman with osteoarthritis in knees and have some lower back prob in past. She took x-rays, went over them with me, did a full history, range of motion, etc.
