Avatar n tn In your case, as it is already diagnosed as osteoarthritis, there is a possibility of increased inflammation in the hip joint, that could happen due to stress, infection etc. Osteoarthritis of hip is a common degenerative hip joint disorder that tends to affect older people. The main symptom is pain in the buttocks, thigh and calf. Treatment involves rest and antinflammatory drugs until pain subsides. Also antibiotics and hormone terapy can be implicated depending upon the severity.
Avatar m tn The treatment of osteoarthritis includes exercise, medications and measures to protect the joints. This includes a teamwork of rheumatologist, physical therapist and orthopedic surgeon. Please consult an orthopaedic surgeon and rheumatologist for treatment and continue the physiotherapy at the same time for the relief of the symptoms. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
1378884 tn?1315505845 I also have a workplace injury, fell on sacrum and R hip last November. I am starting a course of prednisone for 30 days. Never had problems with hip, (pain is radiating to my foot) or back until I fell. Is the Doc trying to rule out RA or Osteo for my R hip? I understand that prednisone is a inflammation reducer and autoimmune suppressor. He found a deposit on the bone near hip as well. MRI tomorrow too.
Avatar f tn You probably have the onset of osteoarthritis which usually is first noticed in the hip, especially when lying on it in bed.
1175033 tn?1492201228 I went to Shriners hospital when I was 13ish, and one of the doctors there told me that I could need hip replacements by the age of 35. I didnt want to believe him, but now I starting to realize why he said that. I also have noticed reoccurring pains in alot of my joints along with stiffness and muscle spasms. I also have weird bone growths, on my ankle, heel, toe joints, finger joints, Im too young for all this. My sed rate always comes back normal.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the tip. I broke that same leg pretty bad in 2003 and the length was checked many times for length. Haven't thought of that because of the hip. I'll have my Chiropractor check it on Monday. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn Since high school, after running track for 4 yrs, (7 yrs ago) I hav had knee pain. In the last couple of years it has gotten worse, radiating to my hip. It happens when I've been standing or walking too long, or if I'm cold. Could this be a trauma induced osteoarthritis?
Avatar f tn I take it 3 or 4 times daily. I have severe osteoarthritis and need a total right hip replacement. I had a total left hip replacement 3 months ago.
Avatar f tn I had this happen to me and it was caused from Osteoarthritis in my hip. It would cause the pain to radiate down my leg all the way to my toes as you are experiencing. I had to have a THR (Total Hip Replacement) done when I was 35 years old to get the pain taken care of. I've had 2 others since then, over a 30 year period of time. (the first one lasted for 26 years.) But it's my understanding that SI Joint disease can also do this. That's why you need to get it narrowed down.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am 46 yrs old, male, ex-athlete (competitive level basketball) and live in London, England. A year ago I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis on my left hip during an arthroscopy and most of the joint cartilage is worn out. Take glucosamine tablets regularly. Even though my condition is not so advanced to take painkillers etc, I cannot do any sport, which is important to me (even at a light, amateur level) and walking start bothering me after a few hundered meters.
1131208 tn?1260207946 I too feel as if I am leading the life of an 80 year old. Anyway, the small fracture inside my left hip { NOT a fracture of the hip BONE } did NOT show up on an x-ray !! A bone fracture will show up on an x-ray. When I sustained this fracture to a band of tissue inside my hip it barely even hurt I barely noticed it because it is an injury to soft tissue not bone. However, over time AVN and osteoarthritis can set in ..
Avatar n tn The acute pain has sort of disappeared and now it is a more subtle pain that is located more in the groin area of the hip. I take baby steps and have limited mobility in my right hip and feel a stiffness in my lower back as well. It has really slowed me down and I'm totally depressed because I don't want to live with this pain. I do take either meloxipam or ibuprofen (trying to figure out which works best). Either one helps just a little, but not as much as I would hope.
Avatar f tn Had a laminectomy in Oct. of 2005 on my lower back. What would cause a sudden loss of feeling in both legs? Has happened twice, once in 2008, and yesterday. Comes on in a split second, long enough to fall down, and feeling comes back almost instantly. Afterwards, my back muscles have a somewhat shaky or weak feeling for a few hours. Have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, and degenerative disc disease.
Avatar f tn Can you tell me if Avascular Necrosis is a form of Arthritis? If so what do you get first Osteoarthritis or Avascular Necrosis?I am 55 years old.
1388332 tn?1285346447 Have you checked with your Doctor at all concerning this pain in your Hip? You might be encountering the beginnings of Osteoarthritis in your Hip Joint. I've lived with that for the past 36 years. I've had 2 hip implants and I'm getting ready for a third in September.

1378884 tn?1315505845 There is some degenerative osteoarthritis of R hip with some small marginal osteophytes. There is also chondromalacia predominantly along posterior and superior aspect of the femoral head with irregularity of the articular cartilage. Avatar n tn Bone cysts, which are areas of relative thinning of the bone, show up as hollow areas on the X-ray adjacent to the joint itself. A hip replacement will often be the treatment of choice if there is significant evidence of osteoarthritis.Otherwise bone grafting can be considered. In this, the cyst is scraped out with a special instrument called a curette. Donor tissue or bone chips are packed into the resulting depression to replace the fluid.
Avatar f tn Hi there. These symptoms could arise from the forceful pull of various muscles originating from the ischial tuberosity like adductor and hamstrings, sacrotuberous ligaments sustained during sports, trauma, other injuries, overuse of hamstrings or avulsion fracture of ischial tuberosity. it is also triggered by sitting for extended periods on hard surfaces and better known as weavers bottom.
