osteoarthritis

529224 tn?1400648219 If you have pain on rest, or as soon as you start walking, or there is too much of bending of your knees, then you should not waste any time and get the replacement done. However if you have a good walking distance (say more than 2-3 kms), then you will benefit from Synvics injections or a steroid injection also. So you tell me, wht's your walking distance?
Avatar n tn This could be due to rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, synovial membrane irritation etc. All of these except osteoarthritis basically result in involvement of small joints. Please discuss this with your doctor (preferably an orthopedic specialist) and get yourself investigated accordingly. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar m tn 50years old man not aware of any medical problems complains of pain related to his joints in different places ( fingers, knee, foot ankle) it takes 2 weeks relief by ibuprofen and voltaren emulgel so the question is what is your recommendation about this case ? do you advice of some vitamins especially that he is getting older?
209987 tn?1451935465 In fact, the article said that red and hot are not signs of osteoarthritis at all, but they could be symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, major organs shutting down, allergies, etc. My doctor looked at my hands one day and said that I had osteoarthritis...they were "normal" that day. I have had big knuckles since I was a child...and I am " skinny as a rail" , which makes the knuckles look even bigger.

Avatar m tn Even if you have osteoarthritis you could still have another medical problem causing part of your symptoms. Have you been tested for other autoimmune disorders? That would be where I would start, by getting tested for other autoimmune disorders. I finished treatment on August 25, 2012. Most of my treatment side effects disappeared after several month, as did the fatigue I had pretreatment, but I did continue to have rash and skin issues and joint pain and muscle pain.
Avatar f tn Hands are so painful and some fingers distorted, feel broke. Was told just a bad case of osteoarthritis. I can't even make a fist, my fingers don't bend. They get worse every year. Why can't I take meds for rheumatoid,,why do I have to have joint damage. 2rheumatologist told me that the meds aren't made for my kind of arthritis. Do you have to have the factor in order to be diagnosed with rh. My hands resemble rh hands. What's going on.?
Avatar n tn Symptoms begin with numbness and tingling of the first three or two fingers from the thumb side (twitch is also possible). Nerve conduction studies are quite diagnostic. Treatment is usually by splints and steroid injections. Surgery may be required in some cases. This condition is common in those who use the key board, mouse etc a lot—like in computers or in typing jobs. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar m tn X-rays are unable to detect any early changes of osteoarthritis. The pain starts years before appreciable changes can be detected through X-rays. A repetitive tendon injury is a likely diagnosis. Also, it could be osteoarthritis since you have pain in both thumbs. Another possibility is rheumatoid arthritis. Both can cause symmetrical joint involvement. The treatment is rest, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory such as Tylenol, Aleve or Mobic. Take care!
Avatar n tn Hello I'm a 29 year old male. My father, his sister, his mother and her aunt all had Rheumatoid Arthritis. My father's was Juvenile Onset and he passed in 05 due to complications. In 2006 my right knee started hurting. I finally went to see an Orthopedic doctor. After an x-ray and feeling the top of my knee he said "You have Osteoarthritis in your knee. It is definately not RA." Well just a couple of months ago my other knee started with the same problems. Just pain mostly.
Avatar m tn Is it possible that Baclofen might have a secondary, off-label, benefit of being a possible treatment for the alcoholism?

Avatar f tn Are there different types of osteoarthritis, or is there a kind that is systemic? What causes osteoarthriti to become diffuse? (I also have stiff sore muscles and feel ill. It is hard for me to walk too long. My muscle symptoms are not diagnosed, and I hope someone can put the pieces together.) Thank you to anyone who can help me.
Avatar f tn Treatment of Osteoarthritis consists of exercise, manual therapy, lifestyle modification, medication and other interventions to alleviate pain. If these fail then you go for surgery. Joint replacement surgery may be required. Individuals with very painful OA joints may require surgery such as fragment removal, repositioning bones, or fusing bone to increase stability and reduce pain.
Avatar f tn so RA or osteoarthritis can increase your risk of development... I had it on my leg after a car accident and after physical therapy for it I finally got through it... the bursa was absorbed by my body is what the doctor told me... it hurt like fire burns! I hope you feel better soon and it clears up quickly. Good luck!
Avatar f tn My husband has had broken fingers and toes and didn't get treatment for it. Me? I'd be at the ER and have it put in one of those funky finger or toes taped all up. But he never did. So, his finger bends funny now and so does a toe. Does it cause any issues? No. Not at this time. But it could down the line. Osteoarthritis is the main worry. If you have another break, just take the toe to the one next to it. And at your next physical, ask your doctor about it.
Avatar m tn I have a reoccuring theme of bad health in my life, and I feel like they are all related to my body being highly susceptible to damage. I have 3 herniated discs one which causes nerve pain - This became much worse after a car accident but it started before that I have osteoarthritis - This is directly linked to guitar playing and the fingers I use most are the ones that are most visibly affected.
