osteoarthritis

Avatar f tn I had the same type surgery, except mine started at 2/3. My doctor was very cautious. I was in the neck brace for about 4-5 months all day and night, then off and on after that. I had physical therapy, too. I was on pain medications for a year. Thousands of miligrams a day. To today. It is about 15 years later and I have many problems. One disc was left, C7, which was protruding. They told me it might cause problems later. I have neck pain that is nagging.
748543 tn?1463449675 ” Treating hundreds of patients including those with TMJ pain and all kinds of neck or cervical neuralgia, over the past 15 years in my Clinic at Miami Beach Dentistry, I have come to see this connection first hand. The body works as a complex unit, and when trying to treat it all parts need to be addressed based on their own merit. What does this mean? I’ll elaborate.
Avatar n tn I am the husband of DebMarie. I assure you that she takes her meds very sparingly, even taking halves vs wholes when she can, never goes over the drs maximum, so she does not abuse the pain meds at all. However, when you mentioned "transient compression of a vertebral artery in the back of the neck" it made total sense.
Avatar n tn ps it is not toxic like vitamin A or other substances if too much is consumed. I have osteoarthritis in the neck and feel a big difference in pain and inflammation after just a month. The usaul period is two to three months.
748543 tn?1463449675 One of the most difficult concepts to get across to my TMD patients and other doctors is the connectivity of the Jaw and the Neck. In fact, it is my strong belief that TMD/TMJ should really be classified as a Craniocervical Disease and hence fall under the umbrella of medical coverage rather than treated strictly as a dental problem. To the Neuromuscular-minded dentist, "Occlusion" is an extension of general Postural Consideration.
Avatar n tn Since then I am having trouble with pain in the neck and shoulder area just below the fusion area. I wake in the morning with a headache then turns to pain in lower neck and shoulders. I have talked to the neurosurgeon who did the surgery and he shrugged his shoulders and said I have no idea and sent me back to my neurologist. He gave me a series of injections in both shoulders and the pain stopped for a couple days but then came right back.

Avatar f tn Condiiton is not improved significantly. Neck brace helps... but Neurogist says - no brace, as it will weaken my neck muscles. You indicated: " A less technical name for this condition is osteoarthritis of the neck, or degenerative disk disease of the neck.. The most common symptom is stiff neck which is most often one of the very first signs. Neck stiffness tends to grow progressively worse over time." This all started all of a sudden, is it possible that this emerges suddenly?
Avatar n tn I've been told though that it's Fibromyalgia and I've been diagnosed in the past as having TMJ and Osteoarthritis. I have severe neck musle pain periodily, not always but it happens. My legs are sore to touch, as well as other muscles in my body. Sometimes my muscles have little pricky movements in them ( which can occur anywhere in the body). I've also been diagnosed with severe carpal tunnel, more severe in the right hand. I live in pain 24/7.
429700 tn?1308011423 I wore a neck brace FULL TIME for 4 weeks, then part time for 2 more weeks. I was house bound for the majority of that time. It was difficult. After about 3 months I have "full" motility of my neck. I know have anther herniated disc about the 2 they replace. However, it is not compressing my spinal cord, so at this point, I dont need to do anything about it.

Avatar m tn Drinking wine can ward off early symptoms of knee osteoarthritis, according to recent research from the UK. Drinkers who sipped 4 to 6 glasses of vino a week were 45 percent less likely to develop knee osteoarthritis than those who abstained from alcohol. But it's not alcohol that contains the antidote for better health; it's the specific ingredients found in wine that keep your creaks from becoming more serious. (Beer drinkers actually increased their risk of arthritis!
525545 tn?1293184794 I have suspected for a few weeks that I may have been having silent seizures like I use to have years ago. I had an EEG done a couple of weeks ago that was inconclusive. But yesterday pretty much confirmed it for me. There are two small cottages on the same lot behind our duplex. One is vacant & in the process of getting painted. Well, the painters came & I needed to let them in which I do for our landlord.
16888441 tn?1452159257 Orthopedics surgery and treatments may help or repair damage to hip joints caused by traumatic injuries, fractures or osteoarthritis conditions. Such treatments may require surgical procedures to replace broken joints with partial or total artificial joints, as well as the use of pins or braces to hold bone sections together.
192055 tn?1263559137 Overall, I wish I didn't have the surgery. I still have neck pain... sometimes worse than before since I have my thin neck muscle holding my joint together which is painful sometimes. Yes, it is a stable joint but I still have pain and just a big scar.
Avatar m tn A week goes by and my symptoms worsen. Let me take a moment and explain them. My neck hurts bad!. I get these headaches that start in my neck, travel to the back of my skull, then to my jaw, then to my temples, then it gets behind my eyes. If the pain is allowed to get to this point, I am nothing but a whining, worthless piece of meat. I am completely pointless to be around because I cannot function! My neck also gets a "pins and needles" feeling in it all of the time.
Avatar f tn I had C4-C7 Fused 4 weeks ago and I'm doing very well so far! I had donar bone and the plate screwed in place. My doctor doesn't require a neck brace at all. I had mostly muscle spasms the first week that caused most of my pain due to lying flat on my back during the operation which took about 2 1/2 hours. I can't lie down long enough to do an MRI without severe pain due to curvature of my spine.
Avatar n tn I have slowly worked up to 300mg/day. During this time I have had increasingly painful aches in my upper body. My neck is stiff and sore. My joints all crackle. My wrists are in a great deal of pain. And the worst is the shooting pains I get through out the day in my forearms, which turns into a chronic numbness, predominately on my right side. Ive been told it could be attributed to carpal tunnel, Ulnar nerve entrapment in the elbow, pinched nerves in my neck, or a slipped disc in my back.
596094 tn?1219293098 Then I started having muscle spasms in my back and my neck. Debilitating. They were having to give me injections in the muscles. I was seeing a chiropractor and they were cracking my back and hooking me up to the tinge machine. I was out of work for two months. I had a CAT scan which showed that I had a hemangioma in my spine however they said that I was born with it and it was not what was causing my pain. I have osteoarthritis.
Avatar n tn All through my back and neck, I have headaches, warm burning sendations all over. A pain in the back of my right leg almost like I am about to get a bad charlie horse and then it fades. The only thing I did differently was help my father move some fairly light furniture two weeks ago. Perhaps if I have a slipped disc or some other issue I made it worse? I am not sure if it can affect my entire body like this.
748543 tn?1463449675 I went to yoga class for a few years and wore my splint at night off and on for several years, but eventually I stopped each. He did mention that I would have a risk of developing osteoarthritis later in life in my right jaw. Forward on to 2016 and I started to notice my neck and shoulders tightening. I do not know if there is an association but last summer I did fall off a boat and hit my head on a wood dock .....I ended up cracking the 2x4 where my head landed....
5792205 tn?1374360715 I've also had numerous steroid injections in my hips, neck and back to try to alleviate the pain from arthritis and disc problems. I've been battling extreme fatigue for many years, and have become an absolute introvert. I just started working full-time after over three years of either not working, or working part-time. I pretty much keep to myself at work, but I'm trying to get back to living and socializing after several tough years.
Avatar n tn Do you have hypermobile skin...like sagging, loose, leathery? If so, look into EDS - Ehler Danlos Syndrome. From your description though, does sound a lot like some kind of arthritis. Also, deep tissue masages seem to bring a short period of relief. Give it try. Hopefully that will give you the relief you need to continue pursuing your condition. My prayers are with you!
Avatar n tn 2 months ago - pain radiating down left arm and almost a feeling of my rod broken (it is in the thorac area) and terrible pain in my neck and upper back. Curious as to what MRI results really mean - I am afraid I could end up with revision surgery because I believe that my rod is causing all my problems. 1st MRI done of thoracic and LUmbar - too difficult to read the Thoracic due to the rod.
Avatar n tn I've had back pain (spinal) for over 5 years - MRI's, etc, says it's DDD - my pain really has 3 places - neck, middle, and low - and not in between - I've had one surgery in the neck area - the last couple of weeks my middle back has gotten worse - I thought maybe I hurt it twisting wrong - I'm getting where I can hardly get out of bed in the mornings because of this pain - about 3 nights ago, I woke up about 4 with my back hurting - I tried to get up to go to the bathroom to get a pain pill - t
