Osteoarthritis neck brace

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis neck brace

osteoarthritis

Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
Avatar n tn I constantly have pain throuhout my entire body, including my eyes! I've gone to many doctors and am just not getting answers. I sometimes think it's MS. I've been told though that it's Fibromyalgia and I've been diagnosed in the past as having TMJ and Osteoarthritis. I have severe neck musle pain periodily, not always but it happens. My legs are sore to touch, as well as other muscles in my body.
2080404 tn?1643113754 yesterday i got an ankle brace to see if it would help support my ankles or the pain i wake up in. tried one brace to judge it's response and put it on my right ankle since that's the one i twist the most often and carefully applied pressure to it this morning. usually i wake up in severe pain and have to hold onto something nearby just to walk around, i'm hurting so much with every step.

Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
587778 tn?1261397118 My doctor sent me for an X-ray and it reveal mild osteoarthritis. Well, in the last week, the are between my patella and thigh began to hurt badly, along the outside of my knee hurts all the way up into my thigh, on the inside the tenderness has progressed, also on the inside of my knee midway up my inner thigh I have a severe line of pain that I can also palpate. My knee and thigh are noticeably larger than the other other one. I am in so much pain.
Avatar f tn There are probably braces or other types of equipment to position his neck in proper alignment, but wearing a brace might not be indicated if this is considered to be more of a habit and is unrelated to short muscles, muscle spasm etc. A brace might not be as effective when no medical condition is identified. Behavior modification techniques need to be utilized in addition to any exercise or physical therapy program. Trying to erase a habit is difficult at any age.
Avatar m tn The osteoarthritis may progress slowly over time. Strengthening the muscles that support the neck and cervical spine may lesson symptoms of pain and discomfort. ~•~ Dr. Parks This answer is not intended as and does not substitute for medical advice. Avatar f tn I have arthritis in most of my joints, but I have more than one type of arthritis too. If you are looking for symptoms of osteoarthritis in the neck, they include pain, stiffness, tenderness, weakness, tingling or soarness in the arms, headaches and even balance problems.
Avatar n tn i'm 52 , a couple month ago my neck and my head just started to poo , crack , very discomfort , is there a name for this ? should i worry or tell my doctor ?
Avatar n tn Although I have had 2 surgeries on my cervical spine for ruptured discs and lax ligaments (am now fused from C3-C6), I am now told that I have significant osteoarthritis at C1-C2 (atlanto-axial joint) Accupuncture did relieve a lot of the associated muscle spasms but I still get bone pain sometimes even at the base of my skull. I've also wrenched the left side of my neck twice in the past 6 weeks at work.
2115734 tn?1334546847 For X number of months (where X can be 3, or 4, or 5 or maybe even 6), I have no physical pain in the RIGHT knee. When OA (osteoarthritis) physical pain starts under the kneecap of the RIGHT knee, I do quad sets for Y number of consecutive days (where Y can be 4, or 5, or 6 or 7 consecutive days) and the physical pain ends again for X number of months. I'd like to swim but know that with no external support around the RIGHT knee there's physical pain while swimming.
Avatar n tn s something you should begin worrying about--but you may have needed more than a neck brace following your accident. If you suffered any kind of neck injury or trauma to the head, your head should be looked at immediately, and usually having an MRI with contrast is the way to go. Keep us posted and please get this taken care of as soon as possible!
Avatar f tn My husband keeps getting recurrent pain in his neck. He has had to go to the ER a few times and x-rays were normal. He went to the dr. yesterday and she gave him Flexeril and Ultram but they don't seem to help the pain. Tonight I put hot, wet washrags (making them hotter slowly) and after waiting about 15 minutes, rubbed ben-gay on his neck and shoulder muscles. He says 'if I could just crack my neck, I think it would feel allot better'.
251315 tn?1198196557 s wrong that my neck is going to the left and my bones r twisted so I was wondering if a neck brace would help as I am having trouble focusing on keeping it straight.
Avatar m tn I feel things have been getting better but slowly. Recently, I went to a sports medicine hand doctor and he had said I have osteoarthritis. I reviewed the radiologist notes on the xrays taken and he couldnt find an signs of arthritis. I am concerned that the Dr.'s diagnosis is wrong given that pain started in both thumbs on exactly the same day. Shouldn't the pain have started first in my dominant hand? How can a Dr. make a osteoarthritis diagnosis without evidence on xrays?
