Avatar f tn Since my PCP retired, I had to obtain a new Dr. My previous Dr never treated me like a drug addict, but my new PCP is pushing me to wean myself off all analgesics and wants me to use subutex. I have an incurable, but not fatal, rare bone disease [polyostotic fibrous dysplasia], spinal myoclonus, degenerative C 5,6 disc Dz, osteoarthritis of knee, cluster HA's, & daily HA's [? a side effect of analgesics]. Multiple pain issues.
Avatar n tn My husband who is 70 had a total knee replacement 6 weeks ago and the pain seems to be intensifying rather than diminishing. He had a childhood injury to this knee, then another operation 13 years ago but is crying with the pain most of the time and has gone from ordinary pain killers to needing morphine. He has physiotherapy 3 times per week, also hydrotherapy and acupuncture, they all say he is making some progress but very slowly and keep telling him exercising will relieve the pain.
Avatar m tn As OA progresses, the affected joints appear larger, are stiff and painful, and usually feel worse, the more they are used throughout the day, thus distinguishing it from rheumatoid arthritis. There is no laboratory or pathological definition of osteoarthritis, and therefore no accepted laboratory tests to diagnose it. Diagnosis can often be made with reasonable certainty by clinical examination. Confirmation can be done through x-rays.
1448748 tn?1312959808 For those of you who don't know what Chiari 1 malformation is, I have found the shortest definition I could find. Arnold–Chiari malformation, or often simply Chiari malformation, is a malformation of the brain. It consists of a downward displacement of the cerebellar tonsils through the foramen magnum (the opening at the base of the skull), sometimes causing non-communicating hydrocephalus as a result of obstruction of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) outflow.
1467506 tn?1286416617 48 year old female with Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis: I had surgery on my foot 2 months ago to remove a bone spur on the top of my foot. I also had a toe (second toe, next to great toe) that was affected by separate pain and had completely turned crooked. The top of my foot - where the spur was removed is still very sore and painful if I wear shoes that tie or walk for any distance. The entire foot feels cramped as well.
Avatar f tn Here is my story: I had 2 knee operations in two years---chronic knee pain--The second surgery was a complete knee replacement. Have taken Tramadol for about a year and a half. I have lost 20 pounds. Beginning to get scared about why---NOT TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT. I am so relieved to know others are having this same result. Tramadol is very effective for pain--hate to stop taking it.

Avatar n tn It happens about 2x a day, lasts a few seconds and it has moved around my body. Started in the left wrist, went to the left knee, then ankle, and the over to the right knee. Now it's been happening behind my right thigh for about 2 weeks. Very strange.

Avatar n tn I notice it in my butt (saggy) and especially depressing the leg area right above the knee (wrinkly) I live in Hawaii and although I wear knee length shorts and dresses which cover it up, occasionally I like to go to the beach and go for a swim and I am embarrassed.....I so much would rather have extra pounds then be where I am at!! I know that gaining some weight will help fill out my legs again, but you don't know how hard it is for me to gain a pound, let alone back the 4lbs i lost!! Help!!!
Avatar n tn I may get a burst of sharp pains in my temples usually one side, it can happen for a few seconds and repeat for a minute or so. I may get a pain in my knee and then minutes later in my finger, or shoulder or wherever it wants to be. The thing is I am a mental health nurse and keep thinking am I going mad. My partner is sympathetic but gets a bit tired of me mentioning pains 5 or 6 times a night. I'm tired all the time and don't know where to turn.
Avatar n tn Everything came back normal except my spine has osteoarthritis and scoliosis and a couple bone spurs. So maybe thats the reason. I asked a doctor and she looked at me like I was crazy and prescribed ativan for anxiety and albuterol for the wheeze. I am afraid to ask any other doctor, due to they just give you that funny look and say "it sounds like your breathing", I even asked my husband and he said the same thing.
Avatar n tn Slave is the perfect definition for vicodin users. You become a slave to it because without it you suffer terrible w/d symptoms. My husband just went through detox at a detox center for vicodin use of 10 - 20 per day for the past year, but used smaller amounts for one year prior. He tried many times to go cold turkey at home without anyone knowing. I had no idea he was using this drug. He suffered through terrible w/d symptoms and could never completely do it on his own.
Avatar n tn Then he looked at me and shrugged, and said he hadn't the slightest idea what it is. Seems to me, if I could have this problem for 20+ years, that is probably the definition of annoying, but not dangerous. When reading through all the comments here, the only thing I notice, is that all the symptoms any of us has put down that might be related, shows no consistency with everyone else on this thread. I am thinking of sending a link to this thread to a vein specialist.
Avatar n tn I've read your posts over the last few months, lady, and understand what you're going through. Hydro addiction is hell. I like Dr. Phil's definition of addiction (which, since, I'm on part-time, I have to admit I'm addicted to Dr. Phil)...smile Addiction: (whether it be drugs, gambling, alcohol, video games, whatever) - Is when you go from controlling the addictive behavior to the addictive behavior controls you! Love ya, NOL - hang in there, babe.
Avatar f tn yes, burning hot knife pain in several areas of the feet and a hot knife a couple inches above right knee... really the bottom of the right quadricep. Also, general achiness in my legs which I have never had before and extreme fatigue that can last 3 to 7 days and then I'll be okay for awhile, even though I feel as if something is wrong. Its chronic, but not in intensity. A bit of a roller coaster but I dread the mornings. Absolutely dread having to take those first steps...
Avatar f tn Of course, the fall I took in the parking lot at school in January 2008 when I broke both arms, my knee, and tore my rotator cuff requiring surgery do give some affirmation to my anxiety. Then there is the time my daughter and granddaughter were visiting from out of state and we were shopping for groceries for a family get-together. They were almost panicked when I had the chest pains and wanted to call 911. I have told my family about the "episodes" but only my husband had seen one.
