Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis home remedies

Avatar n tn This neck pain started 6 months ago, but didn't see a new ortho spine doc till 3 1/2 months ago when all simple home remedies just weren't helping. This doc asked if I had RA and I said 'not that I know of'.....his only advice was to stop all range of motion stretches/exercises and do comfort measures only, ie tylenol, and let him know immediately if I get worse. So went to PC doc and she ordered the usual RA list of labs, all negative, and started me on Mobic.

Avatar f tn Hello! I would suggest you to go for an X-ray and confirm osteoarthritis. I would also suggest you to go for viscosupplementation and take pain killers intermittently. The only solution if you have complete cartilage loss is to go for a total knee replacement surgery and you can discuss with an expert orthopedician. Take all necessary precautions, wear proper foot wear and you can go in the car and do not put much pressure on your knees. Take care!
Avatar f tn It could also be associated with skin infections, uric acid, broken leg, Osteoarthritis and such others. You may try home remedies before considering to visit a doctor.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've not got a diagnosis for my pain, however it is concurrent with symptoms for osteoarthritis. As I've been suffering with pain in my knees, hips, lower back and knuckles for 12 years now I'm not holding out on a diagnosis anytime soon, more so because I know how much the medical comminity seem to despise diagnosing osteoarthritis in anyone below 50, I'm 30 so another 20 years to go before acknowledgement of OA will be given!

Avatar m tn I had a two partial knee replacements, and one total within three years. The total was June 25, 2012. I have osteoarthritis in my right shoulder now, and other joints are getting there. I have lymphedema in one leg and my legs swell and hurt very much when I work, which I don't have much choice about at the moment. I literally come home and either get on the bed or the couch, and can't get up to cook or clean or even go to my children's events after working.
Avatar m tn Hello Again, Hip bursitis is trochanteric bursitis. I chose to use the simpler term "hip" bursitis rather than medical term trochanteric bursitis. I do have personal experience with this condition. I first had the condition diagnosed about 20 years ago as a young adult. I was extremely active I was played softball on three leagues in the evenings and working as a supervising nurse in the day. I over extended my hip. I tried all the "home remedies" to no avail.
Avatar m tn since other orthopedic doctors i consulted have suggested that i should cycle. Please advice or suggest remedies so that i can reduce weight while not damaging my knees further. Thank you.
206807 tn?1331939784 I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian and do the cherry juice, apple cider vinegar with mothers and other home remedies and I don't know if they work but they are good for you anyway. Be advised that if you do take allopurinal you will continue to have flairs for several months as it does its thing of making big crystals into smaller crystals and a protective shealth forms around the crystals. I'm no expert and this is just my opinion so I hope it helps someone.
Avatar f tn SAM-E has also been successfully used for those with osteoarthritis, depression, anxiety, fibromyalgia, bursitis, and many more conditions. Hope I kept that simple enough...I tried awful darn hard...LOL The most important thing to remember is NOT to take either of them (or 5HTP or St. John's Wort) if you are currently taking an antidpressant unless you check out interactions first.
433485 tn?1321816990 Oxycodone is the generic form of Percocet. I have never of pantprazole, but do take sulcralfate. I also try home remedies of chamomile tea, honey and coconut water. It is miserable....i just had an endoscopy a few weeks ago ( where they go down your throat with a tube and camera) My GI said there's some inflammation there, which is what he told me the last time. I agree how horrible it is when it flares up. Eventually, it will die down. How long do your flare ups last?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibro a year ago and I also have severe osteoarthritis in my feet, ankles, knees, and hips as well as a seperated pelvis(pubic symphisis). I have been put on Cymbalta(made me very sick to my stomach); Savella(raised my already high bp); and I am deathly allergic to lyrica and any meds with its main ingredient. My doc that i had had since I was a little girl retired right after my diagnosis of fibro and I havent been able to find a new doc that I like.
Avatar n tn I get dizzy and have chronic fatigue. I also have fibromyalgia and diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the spine. I work in the medical field doing cardiovascular ultrasounds. 1652468 tn?1302904098 If you have access to a health club or have home equipment, you should do leg strengthening exercises especially those that exercise the quadriceps, hamstrings, and muscles of the hip area. Damaging exercises include high-impact exercises, aerobics, and jogging long distances, especially on hard surfaces. I like walking and the use of cable or free weights. Start with no weight and gradually work up to heavier weights.
Avatar m tn I spend a good 20 minutes stretching, most of the time while still laying down, which alleviates some of the stiffness, but the pain doesn't really become tolerable until about halfway through the day. I tried home remedies such as massaging, aspercreme, sitting in a jacuzzi, Ibuprofen, anything I could think of really. I went to the doctor a week ago, hoping he could give me some answers, but he kind of brushed it off as standard muscle pains and gave me more Ibuprofen, for my swollen thumb.
7841528 tn?1416509914 I have been going back to the Chiropractor and am able to cope with the pain using natural home remedies. I opt not for pills any longer since I am a recovering addict because I have been in constant pain for 10 years now. Knowing what I do about the spine, removing the hardware seems to be the right choice, to get back to the starting line. I really appreciate you taking the tie to read this and would love to hear from you!
Avatar m tn Only YOU can decide when you've had enough. And you know - there are a lot of home remedies to help w/the withdrawal and many other options for pain management that don't include taking narcotics. So I think until you come clean w/the Dr. and remove ALL access to getting the pills, you aren't going to be able to do this. At least I couldn't.
Avatar f tn lol I've taken Hydrocodone for years for my osteoarthritis in my neck and that in turn cause horrible migraines. 2 little hydro pills knocks both problems out..........which is why I'm here. I don't want to take them anymore. I'm drinking lots of fluids, trying to relax, taking a lot of hot baths, motrin, vitamins, the other symptoms are no big deal really, it's just the racing heart. I feel like I'm having a heart attack and that in turn, freaks me out! lol Reading here, helps a lot.

Every year, nearly 15,000 people die from overdoses involving these drugs—more than those who die from heroin and cocaine combined.
5111317 tn?1363752760 My w/d was tough, but with the help of the Thomas Recipe remedies and other stuff I either just figured out for myself or read online, I got through it fine. It was worst at day 3 - 4 for me, with the physical issues slowly decreasing after that. After about a week or so I felt much better. There will likely be emotional ups and downs for a while after that, but there are lots of things you can do to ease those feelings as well. For now, just concentrate on getting OFF the pills.
Avatar f tn Hot bathes, fluids and some food daily is naturally recommended. Their are lots of home remedies out there. so long as it is NOT pain meds. Thompson recipe seems to be a favorite on here. A multivitamin would be something you may want to consider. I never had all these "recipes" when I got clean. I had GOD and a will to live. Not knocking them by any means, just saying it can be done. On a side note my mother had FMS and CFS. My heart goes out to you.
Avatar dr m tn I've been reading your comments and have found it all very informative...thank you. I also suffer from DDD and osteoarthritis of the lower spine with the nerve impingement. I too have seen a physiatrist who wanted to do the facet injections. I agree this procedure is for diagnostic purposes...After doing alot of reading and research and weighing the pros and cons I decided not to go ahead with.
