Osteoarthritis hip relief

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis hip relief

Avatar f tn Happy Friday! I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my left hip. A hip replacement is inevitable, but I hope to manage the pain (which has been getting worse this year) for a while, before facing surgery. I got my first infection on October 1 (16 days ago), hoping for some relief for my daughter's wedding that was on October 10. I regret to say that, so far, I am not feeling much relief at all.
Avatar f tn I have osteoarthritis just about everywhere. I have had bilateral hip replacements, knee replacement, shoulder replacement and stenosis for which I have had back surgery for L4-5, S1, laminectomy and spinal fusion. The stenosis is back in my spine. I have been taken off anything with acetaminophen b/c of the kidney damage. I am in terrible pain and need something that I can take that will not cause more kidney damage.
1378884 tn?1315509445 He found a deposit on the bone near hip as well. MRI tomorrow too. So if my hip feels better, pain goes away in foot then it may be that I have RA and Osteo which is exacerbated by the mechanical injury or visa versa. What do ya think, anyone?
Avatar m tn My question is whether anyone can tell me if osteoarthritis in the lower spine can cause grabbing, debilitating pain that causes the patient to cry out it is so severe. These pains act like pinched nerves, but MRS and Neurological testing shows no nerve damage from the spine. The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting.
Avatar n tn Hi a year ago I visited my GP with left hip and upper thigh pain. He sent me for an X-Ray which showed early arthritis changes. He sent for a course of Physiotherapy which I attended for 6months. In the end I stopped going because after the initial mild improvement in pain there was no further improvement. I am taking 1500mg Glucosamine Sulphate + 1200mg Marine Chondroitin + 1000mg Omega 3 fish oil daily.
1459410 tn?1285698605 I have taken ibuprofen for weeks at a time in the past for the osteoarthritis in my jaws. I try to take it sparingly for it now. But I get frequent heartburn and was recently put on cytotec generic, which is supposed to help with stomach lining. I have tried acupuncture, which I thought helped some, herbal heat pack, ice, valium, ibuprofen and wear a flat-planed splint for my jaw osteoarthritis.
Avatar f tn Any Help Appreciated! I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis about 2 years ago. I received cortizone shots for several months but did not help much. I was told about Supartz shots and received the first series last September. I was pain-free for over 8 months which was great! The end of May I started having pain and contacted my doctor, I was not able to get in for 3 weeks and the pain increased and had extreme sciatic pain running from my hip to the bottom of foot on both sides.
673877 tn?1225995294 Can you define "bad hip" in a bit more detail? Does your rottie have osteoarthritis or hip displaysia? In either case, I would go with rimadyl or deramaxx as an anti-inflammatory/ pain relief medication. For any joint issues, MSM, glucosamine and chondroitin can help the soft tissues of joints stay healthy longer. These substances won't repair already damaged tissues, but can keep them going longer. Have a talk with your vet about dosages for your rottie.
1110049 tn?1409405744 Now told I have osteoarthritis in spine. Had no back pain, only the hip pain. Presume this is what is known as referred pain, but I must admit I am bemused. Does glucosamine or any other supplement help with arthritis in spine? I am 69 yrs old, so know it is due to wear and tear.
Avatar m tn Hi, The symptoms of severe pain that you are experiencing may be due osteoarthritis or degenerative disease of the spine. The treatment of osteoarthritis includes exercise, medications and measures to protect the joints. This includes a teamwork of rheumatologist, physical therapist and orthopedic surgeon. Please consult an orthopaedic surgeon and rheumatologist for treatment and continue the physiotherapy at the same time for the relief of the symptoms. Hope this helps you.
Avatar n tn I have worked as a paramedic for 20 years, Over the past 2 to three years I have begun to limp, my left leg seems longer than the right, and a lot of pain in left hip and left lower back. I have been diagnosed with 4 minor bulging disks in my lumbar region and went through 8 weeks of PT with no relief. The Doctor I saw at the time said this was just normal aging for a 46 year old female and nothing to be concerned with.
Avatar f tn I had this happen to me and it was caused from Osteoarthritis in my hip. It would cause the pain to radiate down my leg all the way to my toes as you are experiencing. I had to have a THR (Total Hip Replacement) done when I was 35 years old to get the pain taken care of. I've had 2 others since then, over a 30 year period of time. (the first one lasted for 26 years.) But it's my understanding that SI Joint disease can also do this. That's why you need to get it narrowed down.
Avatar m tn I was just about your age. I was 27 when I was diagnosed with the osteoarthritis in my hip joint and needed it then, HOWEVER, back in '74 the implants were brand new and made for elderly - over 80 years old only - as they wouldn't have lasted more than approx 5 to 10 years on me. So they had me put it off and I did for over 7 years, until I was 35, and that RUINED my back because of the way I had to walk and use a cane and limped.
Avatar n tn After back surgery and one week into physical therapy, my mother has experienced severe pain from her hip to her legs. Nothing the doctors have tried is working. At this point her leg pain is so severe she can not stand. Do you have any suggestions?
15428331 tn?1440594434 Nothing works for my lower back/hip pain. I am doing yoga and stretching exercises but more often than not they aggravate my back even more. Also been trying to walk but the pain in my hips is often so intense I sometimes can't even finish grocery shopping without having to take a break. In so desperate. I want to function normally and live life. I cannot do certain parts of my job so I am in danger of losing it. I don't want to go on disability. Doctors seem to minimize my pain.
Avatar f tn Guess it depends on which nerve is being compromised. Hip Dr. says no problem with implant. Back Dr. says mild disc bulge with osteoarthritis in facet joints in lumbar spine, but not enough to cause this much pain. Tried PT, three sessions about crippled me. Now going to Chiropractor who is doing a combo of adjustments, acupuncture, plant based injections, ultra sound, etc. Still in pain, but hoping this will work.
Avatar n tn I have had severe left hip pain for over a year now but now it has also moved to my right hip and groin area please someone help???
Avatar m tn At age 58 in August of 2011 I had my right hip replaced as a result of Osteoarthritis. Then after 2 weeks developed severe pain again that was not relieved by anything. I was made to wait for 5 months before Insurance Companies would allow any further surgery. Then in January 2012 my second surgery to my right hip was done. This seemed to be better for a while. Now in January 2013 at the one year mark I have developed severe pains to my right hip area that travels all the way around my leg.
Avatar f tn MRI results show that my hip joint is degenerating (early onset of osteoarthritis), I have tendonosis of my iliopsoas muscles, and grade 1 strains of my adductors and quadratus femorus. The pain is spreading from my buttock to my knee and midway up my back. I have tingling in my shins as well. There are days that I can not walk properly. I recently have had an injection in my SI joint, it did not help.
Avatar m tn ) I'm hoping you haven't finished all of your trips as of yet and hope this can give you a little bit of relief when traveling. I've had 3 hip implants in my left hip and I'm getting ready to have my 1st hip implant in my right hip on October 28th of this year. Now when I travel I always get wheelchair assistance to help me from gate to gate. This takes an immense amount of stress off of my hips, back and legs and definitely it helps keep the pain at bay. This allows.
Avatar m tn Clinical History Right hip pain. s/p 11/6/14 hip injection with relief x10 days. Comparison 11/06/2014. Technique MR images of the pelvis and right hip were acquired in multiple planes without contrast. Findings No acute osseous injury or acute muscle injury is identified. There is no free fluid in the pelvis. Disc degeneration is present in the lower lumbar spine. No sacroiliac disease or symphysis pubis arthropathy is identified. No large effusion is seen in either hip.
Avatar m tn Extracts of Boswellia Serrata have been clinically studied for osteoarthritis and joint function. Their anti-inflammatory efficiency surpasses prescribed medications. Also Glucosamine/Chondoitin/MSM combination , has a higher efficiency than any prescribed medications after 3 months of supplementation. An anti-Arthritis diet combined with an Alkaline diet may also help. Just look it up. Physical Therapy deserves a second chance.
Avatar m tn Hello Everyone. I want to share my hip problem ordeal with everyone. Each person and each diagnosis is different, but maybe someone out there could benefit from what I have learned from my pain experience. I am a 25 years old male. I have been dealing with hip pain since I was a child on and off. I ran cross country and track in high school. Every season that I could remember, I was plagued by a nagging pain deep in my left buttocks.
405614 tn?1329147714 I discovered that I have a hip labral tear in my right hip, and went to see a surgeon about having it repaired arthroscopically. I was told that my hip arthritis was to advanced to have a good outcome and I would be needing a hip replacement, and should wait until then. Her chart notes said that I have " hip symptoms consistent with femoral acetabular impingement and arthritis. The MRI arthrogram also shows diffuse articular thinning.
Avatar f tn I started with right hip pain 14 months ago and no one can find what is wrong and everything they do causes more pain . I am to the point now I do not know what to do. I am 62 and originally I lifted something heavy off the counter and carried it to the basement. Thought then it was sciatic and took ibuprofen 800 3 times daily and went to the chiropractor. Nothing helped. Went to an orthopedic and he did an mri and I suggested therapy and wearing a belt. He agreed and I Started therapy.
991524 tn?1249345393 I saw a Dr in Ortho recently who suggested scoping the hip and stitching up the labrum tear (involves dislocating the hip to do it). My question...does it damage the hip to let this go with no surgery? Do tears mend themselves? Without surgery, will I reaggravate this area whenever I want to hike long distances? I also found out I have had mild hip displasia, and a fast wearing out hip joint and a larger than usual labrum from the displasia that weakened over time...
Avatar dr m tn So if you try Celebrex try to differentiate over a period of a few days, how much relief and Where that relief is. That will help you decide how much of your overall pain is Facet. You may find the "Low Back Ache" and "diffuse" type pain will improve a little to a lot. However, I would guess the radiating pain down your leg will still be very bothersome.
974371 tn?1424656729 A few months ago, I started having low back and left hip pain that persisted. My dictor finally ordered an x-ray then an a MRI as a month of PT was no help at all. Tests dud show degeneration so he said it is age related, I am just 64. Different PT and they have been basically doing heat and ultrasound, no improvement and I now have pain across lower back, over both hips and a burning pain on the right side of my mid back. I am also going for acupuncture but nothing is helping.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing numbness in my left hip. It started after I had an unusually long sleep and I woke up laying on my left side with numbness and pain in my left hip/thigh. This was 2 weeks ago. Ever since then I have been trying to avoid laying on my left side and it seems to help. However after I move in my sleep to my left side, I will wake up hours later in pain.
Avatar m tn This was a marvel of anatomy I learned when my doc told me I had about 80% bone on bone osteoarthritis in my left hip. I was 49 then (53 now). The "too young for hip replacement" thinking relates to a) Total hip replacement (THR) and b) The knowledge that total hip replacements last about 20 years. A THR requires that a lot of bone be removed. This means that when the 20 year warranty is up, and they have to replace the replacement, there is not enough bone to do it easily.
