331673 tn?1199357885 it seems to be in correspondence with hip pain as well on my right hip. the pain is above my knee cap...not muscular...and hurts mostly between and 90-120% angles when I extend my knee out. I have no idea why it corresponds with hip pain as well. Both knees also feel like there is no lubrication in the joint...for if I sit in sams position for a long period of time...both knees start and ache! I also am flat footed...I am wondering if this can have anything to do with it. Please help...
1378884 tn?1315509445 Prednisone can make you feel better whether you have RA or OA. It's a general purpose inflammation reducer used in a wide variety of diseases. It can be injected directly into a joint to ease pain and swelling, given in an intramuscular injection or taken orally to quiet an overall RA flare-up, inhaled to help asthma and COPD patients breathe better, and more. My mom takes injections in her lower back to temporarily ease pain.
Avatar n tn I am taking 1500mg Glucosamine Sulphate + 1200mg Marine Chondroitin + 1000mg Omega 3 fish oil daily. Despite this the symptoms have now spread to my right hip, right shoulder and slight symptoms in my right knee. I get some relief from taking 400mg of Ibuprofen at night so I can sleep. Is there anything else I can do to try to halt the progression of the disease? Or are there any better meds I can take. I am 54yrs old, female and not over weight and physically active.
1459410 tn?1285698605 Im in PT to help as well but if anyone would like to share a short summary of their story from pre-diag symptoms through successful treatment, I would really like to see how the different docs have handled your speciific case. The most effective thing Ive done on my own was recently bought an herbal cream that has capsicum in it whihc has done more than any of the other pharma routes. Its still kinda unbearable but Ive at least noticed it being somewhat alleviated.
Avatar m tn 23 year old male who is concerned about this problem. I have been having knee pain for 3 years. Sometimes it's good, other times I get pain. It's not debilitating, but it's a dull ache when resting or bending the knees (sitting with crossed legs) sometimes pain radiates into my shin They also sometimes make sounds. When straightening my knee, it makes a pop or a couple cracks. I also have a small bakers cyst on one leg. I've done an xray which was normal.
Avatar f tn Have you ever had surgery on your knee? Do you have any hip or ankle pain (both hip and ankle pain can refer pain to the knee, and vice versa)? Keep me informed. Bye.
387767 tn?1345875627 I might have asked you more questions, but my only problem is that I can't do clinical examination. If you have to point with one finger area of pain where it would be? Your symptoms of knee not giving away or lock or catch suggests that ligament injury and meniscus injury are ruled out. The other symptom also suggests that it might be osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent form of arthritis. It may occur in virtually any joint of the body.
Avatar n tn Your other symptom of pain while climbing, standing and knee getting sore is suggestive of Osteoarthritis. Your symptom of awakening at night with pain is suggestive Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome or compressive pathology of any nerve. I think you need complete evaluation with help of an orthopaedician and neurologist for likely pathology. You also need thorough imaging study of spine and knee joint. It should include a MRI study too.
Avatar m tn When did your pain begin, what were you doing at the time, and what were the initial symptoms? Do you experience any grinding, locking, catching, or giving way of the knee? Are there any positions that make your knee more or less comfortable? What is the quality of your pain (sharp, shooting, dull, etc.)? Have you tried anything to help the pain and, if yes, has that been successful? Have you ever had surgery on your knee? Do you have any hip or ankle pain? Keep us posted with your answers.
Avatar n tn No, there is no grinding or anything like that. But when I move the knee cap and the leg is totally relaxed there is a vibration (I can’t think of the right word). It just feels like the knee is vibrating when I move the knee cap up and down. It fine when I am sitting walking and doing basic movements. But when I jump and run in basketball, thrust forward on a bike, kneel, or do exercises such as squatting or lunges. The pain is pretty bad.
Avatar n tn If the patient has a ligament injury, the patient will report a deceleration injury or twisting the knee that led to immediate symptoms of swelling and pain. In fact, 30 to 50% of patients will report actually hearing a “pop” at the time of injury. Your symptom of locking and catching are characteristic of meniscus injuries. Are there any positions that make your knee more or less comfortable? What is the quality of your pain (sharp, shooting, dull, etc.)?

Avatar n tn Have you tried anything to help the pain and, if yes, has that been successful? Have you ever had surgery on your knee? Do you have any hip or ankle pain? When any patient complains of “knee pain,” the initial differential diagnosis in most of the cases includes: Osteoarthritis, Ligament damage, Meniscus damage or Patello-femoral disorder. Keep me informed. Bye.

Avatar n tn Your symptoms seem to be unrelated to your scar tissue. Your symptom of anterior knee pain and history of chronic pain suggests that you might have Patello-femoral disorder. Do you experience any grinding, locking, catching, or giving way of the knee? Patients with Patello-femoral disorders classically report pain with prolonged knee flexion, and pain relief with knee extension as it is true in your case. What is the quality of your pain (sharp, shooting, dull, etc.)?
Avatar f tn Hi, The most prevalent form of arthritis is osteo-arthritis. The knee is the most commonly affected joint, followed by the hand and hip. In a study of 697 females >65 years old, knee arthritis occurred in 30%, hand arthritis in 15%, and hip arthritis in 8% (*). Orthovisc injections are synthetic material composed of Hyaluronic acid which increases the viscosity inside the joint cavity, thus decreasing the symptoms. They are not dangerous and have been tried for a quite long time.
1522912 tn?1292053850 I did see a heart specialist as one doctor thought I may have contracted infectious endocarditis because I have a mitral valve prolapse alreay but that checked out ok, I have also been tested for diabetes and kidney function and they were both ok, I've had a pelvic ultrasound which only showed some small fibroids in my uterus, not big enough to be causing any symptoms, a hip mri which didn't show anything, saw a vein specialist and no deep vein problems, an endocrinolgist who tested my thyroid
Avatar n tn Osteoarthritis, Ligament damage, Meniscus damage or Patello-femoral disorder. I think what you are having is either a ligament injury or a Patello-femoral disorder. Are there any positions that make your knee more or less comfortable? What is the quality of your pain (sharp, shooting, dull, etc.)?
182884 tn?1259316506 00 and the cost of a MRI is about $2,000, so the X-ray needs to be done first as it also can detect changes in the bones, such as (OsteoArthritis, and if there are tumors, and other changes I can't remember. He felt my knee and said he didn't feel any major problems with the tendons or something along that line, but the swelling has been there for months, at least since Sept, and mayby longer. He also wants to do a blood test to check for Rheumatoid ARthritis and some other things.

Avatar n tn She is also very active. Her parents have had hip and knee replacements. My mom and I both have symptoms of restless leg syndrome, especially the urge to move. I move my legs constantly when I'm sitting in my desk chair. Is RA hereditary? Could this be just another symptom of restless leg syndrome? Are they related? And why would the pain stop during activity. Could running and other strenuous excercise worsen a possible injury even though I have no pain during that activity?

The hip pain is worse in teh eveing,if i am sitting too long,or too active that dayallso i notice i have the pain when it rains or is cold outside. The pain allso wakes me up at night and interferes with my sleep.
Avatar f tn I am feeling fine. How are you? And who are you? I am 54. My name is Kendra. I do not experience any grinding, locking, catching or giving way of the knee. There are no positions that make my knee uncomfortable other then putting my weight on it while kneeling. It feels totally normal otherwise. The pain is as if I knelt on a sharp rock or tack or even as if my bone is splintered. It began a couple of weeks ago while kneeling.
Avatar n tn ive had much experience with orthos in the last 2-3 yrs. what is sounds like is chondromalacia patella. not being able to do stairs well is one of the signs. seems like when you have rehab from other surgeries it puts pressure on other joints and then the problems become numerous. i did the synvisc injections with no help coming from them, although they might help you. you can develop it from osteoarthritis or trauma to the knee from other source.
Avatar f tn My symptoms include dry mucous membranes, have reoccuring conjunctivitis, chronic constipation with bloating and stomach pain, dry itching skin (no significant rashes) asthma, A-FIB with palpatiations and treated A-Flutter (cardiac ablation), bilateral shoulder pain with Rt rotator cuff surgery this past year (decompression and small tear in rotator cuff, inflamed tissue all around the joint), physical therapy after the surgery made the inflamation much worse and I made more progress with rang
Avatar m tn I have left hip pain that comes for about a week at a time and then disappears for months. Sometimes the pain is not so bad during these 'episodes' and others its unbearable. My hip will hurt and then it goes down the back of my leg all the way to the knee, and sometimes my lower back on the left side will hurt as well, not exactly where the spine is but... I was just wondering if anyone knew what this was caused from? Haven't been able to find any answers. Thanks so much for your time!
Avatar n tn I had the scope because of osteoarthritis of the knee with severe osteoarthritis of the patellofemoral joint and was hoping the surgery would buy me a few more years to work. This was a big mistake because I am in more pain now than before the surgery.
Avatar n tn I was just diagnoised with a labral tear of my right hip, was not told exactly where but was told by my orthopedic that I had to go to another specialist that does the arthroscopic surgery. I have been dealing with my hip pain for over 3 years and was always told it was from bursitis until I found this doctor that finally diagnoised me with my tear.
