1388332 tn?1285346447 Have you checked with your Doctor at all concerning this pain in your Hip? You might be encountering the beginnings of Osteoarthritis in your Hip Joint. I've lived with that for the past 36 years. I've had 2 hip implants and I'm getting ready for a third in September.

Avatar m tn Hi, The symptoms of severe pain that you are experiencing may be due osteoarthritis or degenerative disease of the spine. The treatment of osteoarthritis includes exercise, medications and measures to protect the joints. This includes a teamwork of rheumatologist, physical therapist and orthopedic surgeon. Please consult an orthopaedic surgeon and rheumatologist for treatment and continue the physiotherapy at the same time for the relief of the symptoms. Hope this helps you.
Avatar f tn Pain in your hip could easily be related to your back. The sciatic nerve could be pinched. Also, back pain changes the way you sit, walk, stand, etc., which leads to stress and pain in other parts of the body. Gentle exercise to keep your back muscles strong could help. Ask your doctor for advice.
Avatar f tn One possibility is that the osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, and degenerative disc disease cause some spinal nerve to be pinched severely when you accidently move in a certain direction. This may not happen daily but may happen once in a while. The other possibility is a transient ischemic attack or a mini stroke. It can also be due to suddenly twisting your knee or hip in a particular direction. So look back and see what was common to all the leg ‘giving away’ episodes.
Avatar f tn osteoarthritis, osteoarthrosis or osteochondrosis. Did you have any fracture? Check your calcium levels and if required take supplements and have a healthy balanced diet. You would need lifestyle changes to limit the degenerative disk disease. Follow proper ergonomics. Consult an orthopedician and follow up. Take care!

Avatar f tn There are a multitude of conditions that can cause Hip Pain. I am wondering if you could have Trochanteric (Hip) Bursitis. The bursea in our hip is the largest in our body. When it flares up it is very painful and causes the symptoms that you describe. There is no way to know exactly what may be going on... so as suggested you should visit your PCP. If you have Trochanteric Bursitis it can be a fairly "easy fix.
Avatar f tn Since high school, after running track for 4 yrs, (7 yrs ago) I hav had knee pain. In the last couple of years it has gotten worse, radiating to my hip. It happens when I've been standing or walking too long, or if I'm cold. Could this be a trauma induced osteoarthritis?
Avatar m tn My thoughts are that it could be from the shower cleaner spray that I had been using. I am a 63 year old male with osteoarthritis in the right hip. I have made an appointment to see a dermatologist but that is not until March 1st. Is it safe to wait another month for that appointment ? Thank you for your answers.
532065 tn?1213149801 I've been dianoised with Hashimoto's disease for some ten years I've always taken my Synthroid. I never miss taking my medication. Now I have osteoarthritis and it is rapiedly getting worse. In the past year my dr has lowered my dose from .125 daily to .112. Since then I have gained weight and the arthritis in my fingers is getting worse very rapidly and I am wondering if there is a link between the two.
Avatar f tn 14 Months ago I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in both knees and Buritis in my hips. It came on suddenly and it is very painful. I have seen 2 specialists and have had 2 lots of steroid injections in both knees and one steroid injection in my right hip. I have been taking Meloxicam and painkillers. Today I have been to see a specialist with the view to having knee replacement surgery. After looking at my recent x rays he has informed me that I have Avascular Necrosis in both knees.
Avatar f tn Janet, I have sacroiliac disease and have nerve pain jumping from hip to hip, as well as sciatica. You could have pinched something in there, or somehow twisted your ilium - have you tried a chiropractor? I can sometimes stretch that stuff out, but for the most part I have to go to chiropractor. If you don't have one already talk to your friends and family and see if you can get a recomendation. And good luck. Also, heat for the most part is a no no!
Avatar f tn I am a Nurse Practitioner and also have degenerative joint disease. I have been on Relafan for 6 years and write it for my patients with chronic back, hip and knee pain from arthritis. It moved me from acute need for narcotics on a weekly basis to a rare occassional weekend resting in my favorite chair. One of the problems I see is that patients expect it to act overnigt.
Avatar n tn Routine X-ray examinations of my back and hip found a left-hip pathology, the onset of osteoarthritis. My doctor thinks this could account for my symptoms, via an entrapped nerve in that left-hip region.
Avatar f tn At that appointment was also referred to ortho for severe hip- diagnosed with osteoarthritis. Also referred to dermatologist for sores/bumps on my legs and arms. He told me foliculitis and in my fingernails, which have ridges, yeast infection. I have always had itchy skin but now so itchy I’m scratching till I bruise and they are not small. I have a huge family history of autoimmune disease, sle being the biggest. I’ve been tested but so far negative.
Avatar n tn In your case, as it is already diagnosed as osteoarthritis, there is a possibility of increased inflammation in the hip joint, that could happen due to stress, infection etc. Osteoarthritis of hip is a common degenerative hip joint disorder that tends to affect older people. The main symptom is pain in the buttocks, thigh and calf. Treatment involves rest and antinflammatory drugs until pain subsides. Also antibiotics and hormone terapy can be implicated depending upon the severity.
Avatar m tn Based on how I am understanding my test results most of my pain is from hip impingement, not necessarily osteoarthritis. I am uncomfortable sitting for long periods, and recently (last month or so) riding my bike has become occasionally painful both during and after the ride. I have been prescribed meloxicam 15mg daily. I have been taking it for about a week without much relief.
450140 tn?1317947304 They are not necessarily related. I have osteoarthritis in my hips, more accurately in my hip. My left hip is now made of chromium so there's little chance of arthritis there :-) I couldn't walk 50 feet without some serious pain before having my left hip replace 3 years ago. While I had not been dx'd with MS at that point I certainly had it. The deterioration of my hip had nothing to do with my MS.
