osteoarthritis

Avatar m tn My question is whether anyone can tell me if osteoarthritis in the lower spine can cause grabbing, debilitating pain that causes the patient to cry out it is so severe. These pains act like pinched nerves, but MRS and Neurological testing shows no nerve damage from the spine. The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting.
1388332 tn?1285346447 Weight resistance and muscle building exercises can really help reduce hip pain from osteoarthritis. If you do a lot of walking or running or even aerobics, that puts quite a pounding on your hip joints. Add some weightlifting exercises for a few weeks and see what happens. Perfect form is essential so if you're new to weights, get some help in the form of a trainer for a couple sessions or even a book. "Weightlifting for Dummies" is an outstanding easy-to-read resource.
Avatar f tn maybe a car accident, or you hit your hip on a sharp, hard corner or you fell on your hip... it is inflammation of the fluid-filled sac (bursa) that lies between a tendon and skin, or between a tendon and bone... so RA or osteoarthritis can increase your risk of development... I had it on my leg after a car accident and after physical therapy for it I finally got through it... the bursa was absorbed by my body is what the doctor told me... it hurt like fire burns!
15502615 tn?1440995053 I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis when I was very young and needed a hip replacement when I was 28 years old. This was in 1974 and the hip joints were relatively new and wouldn't have lasted long. Therefore, my Doctor had me put off the surgery as long as I could stand the pain. I was able to put it off another 7 years until 1981.
Avatar f tn I have recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both hips, one worse than the other. While not in constant pain as yet, my hip joint "catches" every time I get up from sitting and has to crack before I can straighten up. This is very painful. (It is also a problem when turning over in bed.) In a couple of months, I have to take a 7-hour flight, and I am dreading it. It's an overnight flight, which might make it difficuilt to take frequent standing breaks.
Avatar f tn I am 23 years old, 5"9 145lbs, Caucasian/South Asian Male I was diagnosed with having level 4 stress fractures in both of my femoral necks and level 2 stress fractures in each of my ankles, in November of 2016, I was near the end of basic training and due to what I'm assuming was these sprint exercises we did on the track, followed by shuttle sprints and then an 8 mile ruck ended up hurting me pretty bad.

Avatar f tn You probably have the onset of osteoarthritis which usually is first noticed in the hip, especially when lying on it in bed.
1175033 tn?1492201228 I went to Shriners hospital when I was 13ish, and one of the doctors there told me that I could need hip replacements by the age of 35. I didnt want to believe him, but now I starting to realize why he said that. I also have noticed reoccurring pains in alot of my joints along with stiffness and muscle spasms. I also have weird bone growths, on my ankle, heel, toe joints, finger joints, Im too young for all this. My sed rate always comes back normal.
Avatar n tn I have chronic back issues and osteoarthritis in my right hip. This morning after my shower I noticed bruising all along my lower back, where I usually have pain. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing numbness in my left hip. It started after I had an unusually long sleep and I woke up laying on my left side with numbness and pain in my left hip/thigh. This was 2 weeks ago. Ever since then I have been trying to avoid laying on my left side and it seems to help. However after I move in my sleep to my left side, I will wake up hours later in pain.
Avatar m tn Can someone recommend me some exercises designed for dorso-lumbar scoliosis? If you need pictures to be able to recommend exercises I'm willing to give you pictures.
450140 tn?1317947304 They are not necessarily related. I have osteoarthritis in my hips, more accurately in my hip. My left hip is now made of chromium so there's little chance of arthritis there :-) I couldn't walk 50 feet without some serious pain before having my left hip replace 3 years ago. While I had not been dx'd with MS at that point I certainly had it. The deterioration of my hip had nothing to do with my MS.
Avatar m tn As it is plainly obvious from the two pictures that I have added, my right love handle area is significantly larger and more obvious than the left one. Now I know that some of this is due to fat around the core area, but I can definitely feel the right hip bone sticking out much more, compared to the left love handle. Can this be classified as a Lateral pelvic tilt that can be fixed through different strech exercises? Or is it something even more severe?
Avatar n tn Pain shot up my thigh into my groin and hip. The pain continues to be severe at times in the exact same area, especially at night when trying to turn over in bed. It feels as if the bone is coming apart. At the time of my fall my doctor did not order xrays because I was not limping. He felt I had pulled a groin muscle. Would a pulled muscle last this long and be this severe?
Avatar n tn If i have muscle pain in about every muscle in my body , and I also have osteoarthritis all through my spine could this be from the ostesoarthritis or would it be something like muscle atrophy, and is there any thing that can be done for it. i am never pain free.

Avatar f tn Since high school, after running track for 4 yrs, (7 yrs ago) I hav had knee pain. In the last couple of years it has gotten worse, radiating to my hip. It happens when I've been standing or walking too long, or if I'm cold. Could this be a trauma induced osteoarthritis?
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar m tn I am 52 and had fusion surgery on a pinched nerve that I had on the L5 of the spine in 2012. I had no problems in 2013. This year, 2014, about a month ago, I started getting a numbness, tingling, pins & needles feeling on my left leg and right foot big toe. I have osteoarthritis and had fusion surgery in May on my right foot big toe that goes numb. The pain would start in my hip/buttock area on the left side and would go down to my outer shin area.
Avatar n tn I take the flaxseed oil capsules, 1000 mg morning and mid-day for my own osteoarthritis in my jaws as well as for mood. Certain foods are rich in omega fatty acids as well, like macadamia and walnuts, pumpkin seeds and freshwater fish, such as salmon and tuna. And Ester-C (gentler on the stomach than plain vitamin C) can help with circulation to the area. Using moist heat might help relax some of the stiffness she feels.
1378884 tn?1315505845 Dull pain along with sharp pain depending on how I move. Pain in inner groin/hip area. Hip occasionally locks up on me when I stand up from a sitting position. I just finally recieved the results from the MRI with Contrast a year after the initial injury. I was also diagnosed two years ago with Hashimotos and I do have issues with arthritis although still trying to get a handle on it as I speak. Here is the report: Indication: R hip pain, question labral tear.
Avatar n tn I would be sitting and all of the sudden I would get this very sharp pain in my upper (front) leg near my hip. (upper thigh area) The pain only last 1/2 min to a min. I can go a week without a pain, then it will happen a couple of times a day, for a couple days in a row. I haven't had any injuries. I am over weight, but I have lost 75 pounds. ...So I don't beleive it is weight related. I have been exercising, but I haven't been doing anything too strenuous.
Avatar n tn In your case, as it is already diagnosed as osteoarthritis, there is a possibility of increased inflammation in the hip joint, that could happen due to stress, infection etc. Osteoarthritis of hip is a common degenerative hip joint disorder that tends to affect older people. The main symptom is pain in the buttocks, thigh and calf. Treatment involves rest and antinflammatory drugs until pain subsides. Also antibiotics and hormone terapy can be implicated depending upon the severity.
Avatar f tn I would say your groin pain is probably over use of your legs and upper thighs were your groin area is. My recommendations to get rid of the pain would be to take a break from the leg exercises for about a week or two, so you don't strain it even more. Use a warm heat compress to help and you can also use some muscle rub too. Also over the counter ibuprofen would help with the groin pain. If it doesn't get better within a week or two, I would suggest going to your doctor.
