Osteoarthritis hip cure

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis hip cure

Avatar m tn I saw the xray of my knee and could see the cartilage had worn away in part of the knee joint and I could see a little spikey bone sticking down. There is no cure for osteoarthritis, only a replacement of the knee joint if the condition is severe.
Avatar n tn Realy no answer till my second MRI that stated that I had Osteoarthritis in my right hip and Spine. No realy relief of pain with oa treatment to my right hip. But big news my Dr. just told me that he thinks I have PIRFORMIS SYNDROM. Look it up on the internet and you would be suprised at how much it sounds like our pain. Not so good news it that it is really hard to treat. I'll keep you informed of what my pain Dr. thinks of this diagnoses.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, there is no cure for osteoarthritis. This is inflammation and wear and tear on the joints due to lack of synovial fluid and cartilage in between the joints which lead to the joints knocking on each other hence the wearing away. Rhumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder. Although the symptoms of inflammation and painful and still joints is the same as for osteoarthritis. Getting pregnant will not cure any form of arthritis.
Avatar m tn It is caused by the breakdown of cartilage and is often associated with aging. It can be assisted along the way by injuries. There is no cure for osteoarthritis. Treatments include NSAIDs and pain management, maintaining a normal weight and exercise.
Avatar f tn Try to understand that if she has osteoarthritis then the only cure is total knee replacement and all these avenues are for short term relief. Tell her to cut down her weight if she is overweight and start physical exercise in sitting and sleeping positions so that she will be ready for her future surgery which involves lots of physiotherapy. Take care!
Avatar f tn just had my xray results back for my hip, what does wear and tear of the lower back mean, is it another way of saying i have osteoarthritis of the lower back?
Avatar m tn The BEAUTIFUL thing about the implants is that when you awaken AFTER the surgery, your PAIN that you are suffering now - WILL BE GONE!!! It's such a GREAT FEELING! The reason for My Hip Implant was from Osteoarthritis. Even though you didn't say what caused your cartilage to wear away - YOUR pain is just the SAME!!! I KNOW how HORRIFIC that pain is with EVERY step that you take and the pain STILL remains when you are laying down, at least MINE was.
11446628 tn?1418302080 If you are overweight, losing weight will help by not putting so much strain on the damaged joints. Losing weight will not cure any osteoarthritis. You may also find a walking stick helpful, if you do not already use one. It is still important to have a healthy and well balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, meat, etc. Drink plenty of fluids so as not to get dehydrated.
387767 tn?1345875627 The knee is the most commonly affected joint, followed by the hand and hip. The diagnosis of osteoarthritis is not difficult when the disease is in the moderate or advanced stage. Early arthritis can be confused with the following conditions, Tendinitis or bursitis, Stress fractures or Synovial proliferative disorders. Rest, activity modification, weight loss, and NSAIDs are general measures for treatment. Are you on physiotherapy? What physiotherapy are you on?

Avatar f tn It sounds a lot like hip displasia. In dogs, the problem almost always appears by the time the dog is 18 months old( 1 yr, 6 months) The defect can be anywhere from mild to severely crippling, and can eventually cause severe osteoarthritis. It is most common in German Shepherd Dogs, Labrador or Golden Retrievers, Rottweilers and Mastiffs. It is known to be hereditary but can appear on it's own as well. There is no complete cure, although there are many options to alleviate the clinical signs.
Avatar m tn Hey man, sounds similar to some of the things I have going on. The older I get, the more my hip pops. For me, I think "no pain no problem". If the issue is getting to you, a proper diagnosis might be in order. I'd imagine that it could be any number of things... most likely nothing serious. If it were more of a dire circumstance, you'd be on top of it now rather than down the road, probably stopping further damage. I'm 46. I played a lot of baseball as a kid.
Avatar f tn I have SEVERE DDD and osteoarthritis, 2 hip implants and getting ready for my 3rd replacement hip implant. My Osteoarthritis began when I was in my teens. I had my FIRST hip implant when I was 35 years old (I needed it when I was diagnosed BUT the implants weren't maed for a young person and wouldn't have lasted very long, so I had to put it off until I was 35 years old). I have Facet Arthritis and have had the RFA (Radio Frequency Ablation).
Avatar m tn Of interest is an analysis of studies looking at glucosamine or chondroitin for osteoarthritis in the hip or knee did not show that these supplements slow joint destruction or relieve pain. Just be cautious - these supplements are reportedly not controlling any joint damage or deterioration that may be occurring. You will find the sites that sell these supplements raving about their healing powers - but you won't find that on medical sites.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I have Osteoarthritis of the hips. I am wondering if it can cause a problem with crossing one leg over the other on the floor or chair. I have no problem crossing my right leg over the other but can't do the same with my left. I am starting Yoga and this is a problem. It could also be a pieriformis problem. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and was able to cure it with exercise.
Avatar m tn There are quite a lot of auto-immune diseases with quite a variety of symptoms and treatments and outcomes. There is no cure because in order to have a cure they need to know what causes it and that has not yet been found. The majority of these diseases are chronic in nature and go in and out of remission. Early treatment can prevent long term damage and there are a number of therapies to help manage the symptoms.
Avatar f tn I had acid reflux for a year and was medicated for it. I have spinal and hip pain with Osteoarthritis in my jaw. Since my surgery and my 2 rounds of Lupron and since being on Marvelon I no longer have nausea, I have had one migraine in 6 yrs, less heart palpatations, no more acid reflux, etc. The pill worked for me and my doctor is amazed because it is such a low dosage. I ended up with PID which caused severe damage to the amazing surgery I had had.
Avatar n tn I read through your post carefully and entirely based on that I feel you are suffering from a variant of sciatica pain, whereby you feel the pain only behind the knee and for some reason not from hip downwards as is normally felt. Since you suffer from osteoarthritis, there is a high possibility that the sciatic nerve is compressed. Maybe the degree and place of compression is the clue for diagnosis.
1322157 tn?1279660281 I was so FRIGHTENED that I had bone cancer back in 1974 at the age of 28 that I was THRILLED that I ONLY had Osteoarthritis in my hip and needed to have an implant. I was a young wife with 2 small children 7 and 4 and I was SOOOO happy that I didn't have a death sentence ro face an amputation that I had NO problem accepting my pain. I've NEVER looked back. I will tell you that I have ALWAYS been an Optimist ALL my life.

Calamine lotion may give me little help but I am in search of a real cure for this.suppose I am rich enough to afford One air purifier, air conditioner, humidifier, room wormer in cold season all in my room o I get any releafe. I am also started experiencing that my both legs and hip joint start painting if get up from sitting or sleeping position. As per my own assumption I slowly start moving my limbs walking etc when the pain seem to reduce slightly.
Avatar f tn I am now past mid century and my menstruation has ceased but I still get this awful pulling, stabbing pain in my right pelvis, low back and hip pain but only on the right side. I previously was put on Zoladex injections monthly with synthetic hrt Tibolone to send me into pseudo menopause but this did not work for me. The gyne told me this told him adhesions were my main problem. I still get bowel problems made worse no doubt by Diverculitis on top of my adhesions.
Avatar n tn I am Fatigued, tierd, weak in the legs, lower back pain, hip pain.. I have also been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my lower back as well osteoporosis in my back, scoliosis in my spine, sclorosis in my hip joints, if that is not enough.. 901368 tn?1242062859 Adding more medications may seem insurmountable, but if it helps with symptom control, may be worthwhile. The fact that you have osteoarthritis in your spine (spondylosis) indicates your hip pain could be related to a degenerative arthritis in this area as well. My neck osteoarthritis joins similar problems in my knees and hands. It s***ks getting old! Feel free to message me or vent your frustrations on the forum.
996946 tn?1503252712 I've seen a lot of people mention knee pain and I tend to wonder if they have arthritis, I have arthritis in some of my joints which include my knees but I never consider that pain as my Fibro pain. That always hits me hard in the thighs and hip areas. Just to sit on a toilet can be very painful. The siatica nerve can cause a very sharp pain in the back and down the leg, but that is a different type of pain as opposed to Fibro pain.
1395999 tn?1280382228 Do you think that any of all the conditions listed in my question might be causing the constant pain I have between my lower back and right hip? Do you know if there's any cure or something to alleviate the pain? Thank you for your time!!
Avatar f tn I have osteoarthritis in both my hands and my right hip. I have a really strong family history of it on both sides. My mother suffered terribly with it and had lots of injections and was on Vicodin fairly regularly the last few years of her life. On my dad's side, two of his sisters were crippled with it; one used metal crutches for as long as I can remember and the other used a cane. About six or seven years ago I ended up having more and more pain in my hands.

Avatar f tn Thank you for the info on the hip problems as well as the osteoarthritis. I have a leg lenght dispcrepancy after a motor vehicle accident whil working. I had ligament transplants done in my left leg 12 years ago and my leg became an in and a half shorter than the right. I also wrecked L4 and L5 in accident. They treated back thru physical therapy for 9 months prior to surgery on leg. I became able to walk, run, ride bicyce, etc after expensive physical therapy.
1629578 tn?1299818494 My 2 rods start at T3 and end at L2, they took bone off my left hip at the time of surgery to fuse the spine. I have been in and out of doctor's offices, counselors, physical therapy, seen many massage therapists, chiropractors, multiple prescription use, and also have used many modalities of alternative medicine. Because I suffer from chronic pain all the time, fibromyalgia symptoms, myofascial pain (tons of knots in the muscles...
