Avatar f tn I still do have some discomfort but compared to the pain I had before the surgeries I am much better. My joints were completely fused from osteoarthritis and when the toe would get forced to bend little bony pieces would break off and add to my discomfort. The surgery enabled my joints to move freely again and the Podiatrist was able to clean out all the bone chips. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I had an X-ray of my hip Monday this week, and when I saw the consultant in charge, the hip seemed ok but told me that it had mild dysplasia. He also noted that the joints in my hip were very hyperflexible. For around 2 months I've had a lot of pain in my hip, sometimes crampy and sometimes really sharp, and it hurts even more with my periods. I'm at my wit's end trying to know what it is, and what I can do about it, as I've had it for so long. Thanks.

657653 tn?1224684306 Hi, How are you? Degenerative arthritis is also called osteoarthritis or "wear and tear" arthritis. It is a form of arthritis that causes the gradual breakdown of the cartilage that cushions the joints. Movement then causes the bones to rub against each other, which is painful. Degenerative arthritis is characterized by inflammation, breakdown and eventual loss of the cartilage of the joints. This can be caused by obesity, bad posture, repeated trauma or injury, and overuse.

Avatar n tn I have a host of medical problems - most significant are bilateral hip arthroplasty, knee trauma (ligaments and meniscus), a recently broken femur, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and a chronic infection in my body that started with my first hip replacement 20 years ago. I take daily oral anitbiotics (Doryx/doxycycline) and have IV antibiotics once or twice a year when it gets out of control. I recently had a TB test and I started having severe pain in my joints and arm.
Avatar n tn bone graph was taken from my left hip, doctor takes from the hip because theres plenty of bone to use for graphing. the hip feels like a really bad charlie horse. i feel like an old man walking around, it's a little difficult turning around in bed. i've found stuffing 2 pillows into 1 pillow case works better 4 me to rest my arm, last night i had a fever of 100.6, fingers very swollen, and exposed fore arm very red. i called the Docs office around 7:30pm.

Avatar n tn On his they used some of his hip bone for the fusion. He complained more about hip pain than neck pain. Good Luck with your surgery and don't take it as lightly as other poster did. Everyone is different in the way they heal and some push themselves through the pain when they should not.
