osteoarthritis

1175033 tn?1492204828 I went to Shriners hospital when I was 13ish, and one of the doctors there told me that I could need hip replacements by the age of 35. I didnt want to believe him, but now I starting to realize why he said that. I also have noticed reoccurring pains in alot of my joints along with stiffness and muscle spasms. I also have weird bone growths, on my ankle, heel, toe joints, finger joints, Im too young for all this. My sed rate always comes back normal.
Avatar f tn I have osteoarthritis just about everywhere. I have had bilateral hip replacements, knee replacement, shoulder replacement and stenosis for which I have had back surgery for L4-5, S1, laminectomy and spinal fusion. The stenosis is back in my spine. I have been taken off anything with acetaminophen b/c of the kidney damage. I am in terrible pain and need something that I can take that will not cause more kidney damage.
1378884 tn?1315509445 My guess is you have a low back injury that is irritating the sciatic nerve, which travels down the back of your hip and down your leg. Bone deposits can build up due to altered mechanics in how your walk, sit, stand, etc. after an injury. The old song, "the hip bone's connected to the knee bone" has more than a little truth to it! A foot injury, for example, makes you limp. This puts stress on the adjacent joints, so eventually your knees, hips and back start to hurt, too.
Avatar n tn Hopefully this is just temp. and I'll be back to recovery asap. Good luck - I've been where you are and I know there is hope.
Avatar m tn This is also my excruciating story...so much pain in the tailbone and hip and lower back area. Standing for no more than 10 to 15 minutes. A trip to walmart is torture. I also have barretts esophagus and cannot take any NSAIDS...life can be miserable and It is well for us to keep a good outlook and get plenty of sleep to deal with these pains, but I am hopeful that some day there will be a pain med for me!
Avatar n tn After having a surgery to fix on particular problem that left me with a whole different problem I went to three other osteo docs. They all advised me to have hip replacement due to osteoarthritis, but I didn't want to do that without trying every other avenue. I recently had a 'live blood analysis' and discovered a tiny organism called 'mycoplasma arthritides' was responsible for my problem. I was told that a trauma like my surgery couild have triggered the organism.
Avatar n tn I am a active 24 year old and have been expierencing aching hips sometimes both at once, sometimes just one and the pain hurts in my lower back and hip,and allso radiated down the back of my thigh and sometimes into my knee when it happens. The hip pain is worse in teh eveing,if i am sitting too long,or too active that dayallso i notice i have the pain when it rains or is cold outside. The pain allso wakes me up at night and interferes with my sleep.
1459410 tn?1285698605 My mom was debilitated by it and on my dad's side, I had two aunts crippled by it. I'm 48 now and have it in my hands, hips, knee, back and ankle. The worst is my hand. I won't go into too much detail as it's a very long story but I think I have the details in my profile. Six years ago my hands started getting bad. I did cortisone shots, medication and ended up doing a joint replacement in my left hand (at the thumb joint), which failed.
Avatar m tn I am 61 yrs old female, and have suffered back pains for several years, quite recently I am experiencing severe pain in the left hip and buttocks, left shoulder blade, left rib cage and pain down the left leg to toes. All in the joints, and when I rise from a sitting position, my hip seems to lock and generate a searing pain that is relieved when I twist my body into another position.
Avatar f tn I have had pain in my low back and hip for over a year. I have been treated for sciatica, piriformis syndrome and SI dysfunction. An Xray of my hip shows that I have acetabular retroversion, which basically means my hip sockets aren't aligned properly with my joint. MRI results show that my hip joint is degenerating (early onset of osteoarthritis), I have tendonosis of my iliopsoas muscles, and grade 1 strains of my adductors and quadratus femorus.
Avatar m tn For about 2 and a half years now, I have been having pain in my lower back and hio. My ortho sent me for an MRI and he said I had Spondylolisthesis. He treated it with Physical Therapy (which didn't work) and with Pain meds. He retired about a year and a half ago and I can't find someone who will treat me because its a "Chronic Condition. I was finally sent to a pain clinic. The Dr there wants me to have Facet injections and I am so afraid to try that.
785373 tn?1236332003 Now I have a pretty good one, and went to the Dr's the other day was given Vicoden, Naproxen, and Predisone. Was given a MRI of hip, and back. Doctor says she also thinks the pain comes from back. Havent got results back yet. Pain starts in hip, usually when lying down or sitting in a certain type of chair. Goes down the back of my leg, down to my ankle, sometimes into my toes, sometimes into my heel.
Avatar m tn I wish you the very best and HOPE you will continue to post on MH (MedHelp) and share you experiences and help others in that way. I'll be watching for your updates. :) .........
Avatar f tn The end of May I started having pain and contacted my doctor, I was not able to get in for 3 weeks and the pain increased and had extreme sciatic pain running from my hip to the bottom of foot on both sides. I have done everything possible, over the counter drugs, exercising in pool, massage therapy, physical therapy, accupuncture, pain shots, perscription Motrin 800mg, Vicodin 7.5-750, Hydrocodone/APAP 5/500, with very little relief. I received the second series of Supartz almost 1 1/2 mos.
974371 tn?1424656729 A few months ago, I started having low back and left hip pain that persisted. My dictor finally ordered an x-ray then an a MRI as a month of PT was no help at all. Tests dud show degeneration so he said it is age related, I am just 64. Different PT and they have been basically doing heat and ultrasound, no improvement and I now have pain across lower back, over both hips and a burning pain on the right side of my mid back. I am also going for acupuncture but nothing is helping.
Avatar f tn Plus the whole thing has bought my hot flashes back after 2 yrs free . I'v been subscribed Naproxen and Amitrypline. We're due to go on a 9hr plane journey next week and I'm not really looking forward to it ! Has anyone got any suggestions please?
Avatar n tn I have worked as a paramedic for 20 years, Over the past 2 to three years I have begun to limp, my left leg seems longer than the right, and a lot of pain in left hip and left lower back. I have been diagnosed with 4 minor bulging disks in my lumbar region and went through 8 weeks of PT with no relief. The Doctor I saw at the time said this was just normal aging for a 46 year old female and nothing to be concerned with.
Avatar n tn This has happened while in the mall and walking from the car to the store and realizing I forgot something and then going back to the car. I have no pain when I first get up or down. Seems to only come if I walk very far. I am 57 and I am over weight. What can cause this in both hips.
1110049 tn?1409405744 Now told I have osteoarthritis in spine. Had no back pain, only the hip pain. Presume this is what is known as referred pain, but I must admit I am bemused. Does glucosamine or any other supplement help with arthritis in spine? I am 69 yrs old, so know it is due to wear and tear.
Avatar m tn If the pain is in your groin, this is the location of the true hip joint, and the common causes of pain are a torn labrum and osteoarthritis. It the pain is outside on your side, this is not really a true hip problem. Here the the likely causes are trochanteric bursitis, pyriformis syndrome, iliotibial band syndrome, and low back pain. Problems with the joint are often treated with surgery; outside the joint is more likely to respond to physical therapy.
Avatar m tn This seemed to bring on other issues, and my walking problems and pain returned with avengence. My doctor ordered an MRI of my back. The results showed arthritis and some degeneration of my lower spine area. I was referred to a Physiatrist at the clinic, who had me do 4 weeks of ultrasound therapy. The prognosis at the time was a dysfuntional SI joint. The ultrasound was not effective. I was then given an injection into my SI joint, still no relief, my pain actually got worse.
1388332 tn?1285350047 I have a nagging pain in my left hip that comes and goes. Im 36 and had it on and off for about 10 years. Im very active and daily workouts dont seem to hinder or worsen the pain. I can walk about 2 hours (at a decent pace) before I get a mild stabbing pain. It seems to be right in the joint and not on the outer edge. It can come on more rapidly when I stand in one position for a while (ie over 30 mins). Its not a throb, as soon as I rest the joint, the pain goes.
Avatar n tn I have had the hip joint frozen twice now and the pain totally went away so am sure it is coming from the hip and not back. The pain is a grabbing pain when I rise from a sitting position or getting in and out of the car and crossing my leg or putting on my shoe or sock is not possible. It is very uncomfortable to sit for any length of time. I am only comfortable when I sit with my legs straight out on the couch or in bed. I am able to walk and stand without too much difficulty.
Avatar f tn i have bad hip pain in my right side, it sometimes goes down my leg and into my foot and when this happens it is hard to walk on. it has started to go over to my left side now. can u help?
Avatar n tn So maybe a imflamed stomach can cause the rib pain. I also have Degenerative DIsc Pain in back and neck. Osteroarthritis and DD pain is causing this. I also have narrowing of forminal causing the buttocks pain. I have the fatique which I think is FB. I still have lots of pain, but am afraid of the SHots in the spine. I am relieved all test came back normal. but I still have the problems. and a few i did not mention.
1131208 tn?1260211546 I called the doc and I'm going back on Wednesday...I've had so many injections in the hip that I have a major crater there from fat atrophy. I know that was a long story...but has ANYONE experienced anything like this? It's more than bursitis.....Could the AVN be progressed to a point that bad enough to hurt that bad yet not be seen on x-ray? He mentioned that it may look like I have a labral tear on my x-ray...
Avatar m tn So they had me put it off and I did for over 7 years, until I was 35, and that RUINED my back because of the way I had to walk and use a cane and limped.Because of that I NOW have severe DDD - Degenerative Disc Disease. I'd HATE to see that happen to ou!!! What I'm TRYING to tell you is DON'T PUT IT OFF - ESPECIALLY since your upper part of your femur is wearing down. DON'T take the chance that it could ruin the possibility of an EXCELLENT outcome for you and your implant.
Avatar n tn For the last 4 months, every morning when I wake up I have what appears to be muscle pain just above my right hip and it radiates around to my lower back. The pain is not apparent during the day while I'm moving about, except during this same time-frame, my Chiropractor has not been able to perform one of his typical "moves" where he puts me on my left side and twists my body by applying pressure to my hip.
