osteoarthritis

1175033 tn?1492201228 s very possible that your hip deformity is the source of your other aches and pains. It throws off your gait and your spinal alignment, causing pain and stress in other parts of your body. Ask for a referral to a pain management specialist. These lovely people are willing to try a wide variety of methods to help you with your pain, which your doctor may be unaware of or reluctant to try.
1378884 tn?1315505845 My guess is you have a low back injury that is irritating the sciatic nerve, which travels down the back of your hip and down your leg. Bone deposits can build up due to altered mechanics in how your walk, sit, stand, etc. after an injury. The old song, "the hip bone's connected to the knee bone" has more than a little truth to it! A foot injury, for example, makes you limp. This puts stress on the adjacent joints, so eventually your knees, hips and back start to hurt, too.
Avatar n tn I am a active 24 year old and have been expierencing aching hips sometimes both at once, sometimes just one and the pain hurts in my lower back and hip,and allso radiated down the back of my thigh and sometimes into my knee when it happens. The hip pain is worse in teh eveing,if i am sitting too long,or too active that dayallso i notice i have the pain when it rains or is cold outside. The pain allso wakes me up at night and interferes with my sleep.
Avatar n tn The acute pain has sort of disappeared and now it is a more subtle pain that is located more in the groin area of the hip. I take baby steps and have limited mobility in my right hip and feel a stiffness in my lower back as well. It has really slowed me down and I'm totally depressed because I don't want to live with this pain. I do take either meloxipam or ibuprofen (trying to figure out which works best). Either one helps just a little, but not as much as I would hope.
Avatar f tn I think that thigh atrophy and tight calf muscle would definitely pull things out of their normal position, causing extra wear and tear. I think osteoarthritis is less of a bummer than rheumatoid, so maybe it could just be a bow on your neat single package. Kathy I would LOVE to wrap up everything in a nice single package! I have so much going on that I totally confuse my doctors. I get confused myself, trying to figure it all out so I can make the most out of my life.
Avatar m tn hi I too have bad hip and back pain terrified as now have swollen lymph nodes and pain in groin. waiting for ultrasound and wondered if hip problems could cause swollen lymph in groin. I'm female aged 55.
Avatar m tn The last 4 years I was doing a lot of cycling and playing tennis too. However the doctor told me to try and stop these and only do some swimming and light walking. I am feeling that I cannot do much now and I want an opinion from an expert. I started going to gym , which has also a pool, thus I go one hour for weight training and one hour to the pool. However is cycling ok for what I have? Or can I still do? Of course as i understand i have to stop soccer and tennis...
1378884 tn?1315505845 It felt like someone had driven a knife into my hip. On the injury report I reported hip and low back pain. An Xray was done and then a MRI on my lumbar sacrum area. Slight disk buldge and no impingement on nerves, some early signs of arthritis. I was still complaining about hip pain but no one listened until a month ago.
Avatar n tn t bother me when i am sitting or laying down, but walking is excruciating and it radiates to the back of the thigh and the outside of the upper calf... what can this be? I am in pretty good physical condition, sixty seven years old and was exercising on a regular basis before surgery....
182884 tn?1259312906 Kaul, for the last reponse while waiting for the MRI of my left hip because of pain and abnormal X-ray. I just got the report from MRI, and I think I understand part of it, but not all. Basically this is what it says. Findings. femoral head articulates appropriatly with the acetabulum. The region of luceny seen n superior aspect of femoral head is due to some reactive subcortical sclerosis. There is articular cartilage thinning in this location but no focal osteochondral defect.
Avatar m tn This seemed to bring on other issues, and my walking problems and pain returned with avengence. My doctor ordered an MRI of my back. The results showed arthritis and some degeneration of my lower spine area. I was referred to a Physiatrist at the clinic, who had me do 4 weeks of ultrasound therapy. The prognosis at the time was a dysfuntional SI joint. The ultrasound was not effective. I was then given an injection into my SI joint, still no relief, my pain actually got worse.
Avatar f tn If you have chronic knee pain in both of your legs then rule out osteoarthritis or other joint problems like Rheumatoid arthritis and other systemic diseases. Go for an X-ray and follow up with an orthopedician for a proper diagnosis. Take care!
Avatar m tn 54yr old female, have had this chronic lower back pain that radiates to hip area.I do have arthritis in lower back and hip,but the meds for it does nothing.I stretch every night before bed and every morning before getting out to no avail.I look like I'm 90 yrs old after a pain full ten minutes of trying to get out of bed.I have to inhale to stand up straight(omg the pain) but once I pee and get into kitchen for coffee I'm fine. The only doctor I haven't seen is a nerve doctor.
1021831 tn?1331605848 the hip area and also the balance issue. At the same time I will tell him of the osteoarthritis and the hip replacements, they also want to know of my medications, I'll tell them of the Oxy. that my fam. dr. had me try. Thank you for your interest in my problem.
Avatar f tn Pain in your hip could easily be related to your back. The sciatic nerve could be pinched. Also, back pain changes the way you sit, walk, stand, etc., which leads to stress and pain in other parts of the body. Gentle exercise to keep your back muscles strong could help. Ask your doctor for advice.
Avatar m tn For about 2 and a half years now, I have been having pain in my lower back and hio. My ortho sent me for an MRI and he said I had Spondylolisthesis. He treated it with Physical Therapy (which didn't work) and with Pain meds. He retired about a year and a half ago and I can't find someone who will treat me because its a "Chronic Condition. I was finally sent to a pain clinic. The Dr there wants me to have Facet injections and I am so afraid to try that.
Avatar f tn Needles to say I was in crippling pain and went back, finding out my injuries had gotten worse and they wanted to put pins and whatnot into my femoral necks. I refused as they said it was possible for them to heal naturally. So I opted for that, because I wanted to do the most to prevent it. Six months later and I'm still having pain, when I left they said the injuries had healed a surprising amount but I still get many different types of pain, which I will explain now.
1295500 tn?1272459927 Some days she seems fine and other days she can barely get up off the floor and when she does her back legs shake. Right now what's happening is she is holding one of her legs up and walking on three legs. I was told to give her glucosamine sulfate 500mg for her joints and I was for about three months and it really doesn't seem to working, so I stopped giving them to her.....Any Ideas what it could be??
1388332 tn?1285346447 I have a nagging pain in my left hip that comes and goes. Im 36 and had it on and off for about 10 years. Im very active and daily workouts dont seem to hinder or worsen the pain. I can walk about 2 hours (at a decent pace) before I get a mild stabbing pain. It seems to be right in the joint and not on the outer edge. It can come on more rapidly when I stand in one position for a while (ie over 30 mins). Its not a throb, as soon as I rest the joint, the pain goes.
1448748 tn?1312956208 --- or if not something that would have changed in 5 months something that would progress and be causing low back and hip pain, respond to some anti inflammatory and then suddenly cause severe leg pain that could be generated in the Hips or lower(because I never had any imaging of the hips or lower) oh yeah and yesterday my knee also.. and I have done no strenuous exercise at all Sorry for such a long post.. dont know if anyone can help or not but any help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn Guess it depends on which nerve is being compromised. Hip Dr. says no problem with implant. Back Dr. says mild disc bulge with osteoarthritis in facet joints in lumbar spine, but not enough to cause this much pain. Tried PT, three sessions about crippled me. Now going to Chiropractor who is doing a combo of adjustments, acupuncture, plant based injections, ultra sound, etc. Still in pain, but hoping this will work.
Avatar f tn On a plane, you will have to get up at intervals and move around. Bringing knees to chest helps relieve pain in lower back and hips. Keep feet moving. Safe journey. Let us know how you got on.
Avatar f tn I also took Darvocet and there is nothing else for my pain except the real strong stuff and I am trying to hold off as long as I can before I would take those, I have osteoarthritis in my joints, I need a hip replacement and I have osteoarthritis in my back also, I dont know what to take for pain.
Avatar f tn About 1 and 1/2 years ago I was told I had osteoarthritis this was after several tests X-rays, ultrasounds and the experimental cortisone injections in the joint and in the tendon. The decision was then made to have a total hip replacement. The recovery went well and I progressed fairly quickly, however I always seemed to have a pain in my groin, I mentioned this but it was always put down to the procedure it's self and that it should settle.
Avatar n tn ve been on methadone/oxycodone 15mg for 3 yrs for back surgery and ddd in my neck with osteoarthritis in my hip/kneeand ankle. I came off my oxygen in may 2018 and became very depressed. can I switch back to oxygen and eliminate the methadone?
