Avatar f tn Was told just a bad case of osteoarthritis. I can't even make a fist, my fingers don't bend. They get worse every year. Why can't I take meds for rheumatoid,,why do I have to have joint damage. 2rheumatologist told me that the meds aren't made for my kind of arthritis. Do you have to have the factor in order to be diagnosed with rh. My hands resemble rh hands. What's going on.?
Avatar f tn Hi Eve, I have had the autoimmune type of arthritis (rheumatoid) most of my life and it definitely runs in my mother's side the family. However I know many people who have it that have no one else in their family that does. My mother was just diagnosed at age 78, I've had it since I was 5, so it can strike at any age. Her fingers are greatly affected, I think one reason is that she has used her hands a lot throughout her life as a professional seamstress and quilter.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis. What kind of exercise can I do? I need to lose about 25 lbs. and I was walking but now I'm not sure if that is good for me.
1727909 tn?1314848810 One thing I do every nite, is wear soft fuzzy gloves that are made for sleeping in to help keep your hads soft as they keep my hands warm and help to keep them from getting stiff at nite. One of the very best friend's you can have is your Pharmacist!
469901 tn?1276567223 Thx for asking txsilver. I've osteoarthritis in the hands & hips..a family thing sadly. Also the OA aggravates my heberden nodes in the finger joints which makes it hard at times as it just progressively gets worse. I find at the moment as I'm so cold that thermomedic heat gloves work best for my hands as I'm allergic to the preservatives used in most meds. I also massage my hands each day too.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have osteoarthritis, so I know what it is to have pain in many joints. The worst at the moment is in my hand.Old age, and nothing much can be done. I refused injections in my back, and take mild painkillers, as strong painkillers do not agree with me. I also had a bad gut bleed with Ibroprufen so cannot take that.
1437229 tn?1296073620 In my case pain and spasms or contractures of my fingers has had a variety of causes - osteoarthritis (pain, stiffness and swelling first followed later by less pain and more bony deformity), an infection (mostly swelling and pain), spontaneous contractures of unknown cause (the ortho always said he suspected some undiagnosed connective tissue disorder), and an undiagnosed episode of intense palm pain with finger spasms (probably the MS before it was diagnosed).

1310633 tn?1430227691 Migraine is more prevalent than depression, osteoarthritis, and diabetes. Which means that you are almost certainly living with, or working alongside -- or considering voting for -- someone with migraine, and don't know it. And in the end, too, it is no disqualification. There is no personality type for migraineurs: If you show me someone whose work seems hampered by headaches, I can show you someone who puts your productivity and mine to shame.
Avatar n tn the pain i had came from bone on bone which the doctor said i had osteoarthritis which came from my cartilage being destroyed. my wrist was so painful that it hurt to lift a full cup of coffee, i was waking in the middle of the night from pain. I would suggest asking your doctor that you would like a MRI with contrast (dye). that should clearly tell your doctor or the radiologist if you have any soft tissue damage to your hand.
Avatar f tn Also, garden variety Osteoarthritis can occur and come on quite rapidly. OA is a non-inflammatory arthritis while RA is an immune inflammatory type. Don't make the immediate assumption that this is related to MS or the Rebif. See your doc and have a referral made to a Rheum or even just get Xrays. OA will show classic degenerative signs very early.
1477978 tn?1289505731 did say along with the Lupus, I also had a bit of OA or Osteoarthritis. They said when a flare from OA would come that my immune system starts attacking the OA flare, making it worse. Another symptom, I don't heal well from things like getting a tooth pulled (takes sometimes months to heal & stop hurting). I hardly ever get sick but when I do it is extreme. Mostly all I've been really sick from in the past is Strep Throat, and Sinus Infections, a couple of times I had Pnumonia.
1245842 tn?1287833651 household cleaning agents, paints, solvent things, chemicals, manicure things, gloves, something you're in contact with? - if you haven't already excluded these already...
Avatar f tn When I ate sweets, raw garlic or tropical fruits it reacted with the latex (cleaning gloves) causing my hands to itch and crack the next morning. Crikey. When the problem first started 20 years ago the first thing I did was go to have an allergy test done which incorrectly found I was allergic to nothing. I don't know if that will help any of you, but I would suggest thowing every piece of latex in your house in the trash.
469720 tn?1388149949 I have pretty good BP mostly, but, have had some scary episodes of an extremely fast heartbeat and fainting- (my heart rate is always elevated as well, even at rest, usually around 90 or so, higher if exerting myself) I am not as active as I was a few years ago-have (advanced osteoarthritis and DDD) I have asthma which has been pretty great since I quit smoking. I just learned my teenage son has a Right Branch Bundle Block-(congenital?
Avatar n tn It dries my hands out like crazy - to the point of scaling and cracking. So now I use gloves when I use it. Any chance you just started using this "Green" stuff by Clorox? I have no clue, but now think I may go to the doc.

Avatar f tn In the back of my mind, I wonder if my neck pain was due to the degenerated discs/osteoarthritis or is it because of the torn cuff. I have to put the surgery on hold for cufff until I heal from the fusion. I am so tired of being in pain and I am having alot of trouble trying to cut back on the pain meds because the lower dosage doesn't help. Also I am wearing the bone growth stim. and was told I have to wear it for 6 months. I hate that thing, it hurts the back of my neck tremendously.
Avatar n tn But the good news is that I do find that my hands really respond when I moisturize and - a big help - use gloves when I wash dishes. The other thing is I recently lost a bunch of weight too, and that's when I noticed the skin on my elbows. I think at least some of the problem is from the weight loss, which makes some sense. I figure if I exercise my arms, it'll "pick up" some of the slack, so to speak! As far as cipro and levaquin - have you been really sick lately?
