Osteoarthritis gel

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis gel

Avatar f tn Lately I have been putting Voltaren gel on my forehead. I'm doing this to soothe pain from inflammation caused by increased circulation from running a lot. Is this ok? I know it takes away pain, reduces inflammation, and increases blood circulation. Also I got the blood flowing through some decadent veins and arteries on my skull. It is really annoying but gets better everyday. What do you think?
Avatar f tn we dont know where to turn or what to do next. some people have mentioned some sort of gel injections to serve as cartiladge. does anyone know about this. or have any suggestions. please help i am very worried about him.
Avatar n tn Hi dillion215. Voltaren Gel is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, commonly known as NSAIDs. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Voltaren Topical Gel is used to treat joint pain in the hands, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, or feet caused by osteoarthritis. This medication is for pain.
Avatar m tn I did some research on these and it seems like it's the same medicine that's in Voltaren Gel. If the Voltaren Gel (not cheap by the way) didn't help why would she have perscribed Flector Patches?
Avatar f tn I'm 39 and he says i'm not a good candidate for ankle replacement as it does not last for my age group. He also says fusion is an option but i'm too young for that. He gave me some voltaren gel and some patches to help with the pain. Is there nothing else i can do? No other option?
Avatar n tn Hello! Viscosupplementation involves the injection of gel like substances (hyaluronates) into a joint to supplement the viscous properties of synovial fluid. Currently, these injections are approved for osteoarthritis of the knee joint, when more conservative treatments have failed. You can try a set of three injections for relief from Supartz or as indicated by your orthopedician.
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
Avatar n tn My mother has had several gel injections into her knees over the years. The last was a week ago and she had much pain soon afterward with swelling. I talked to the dr.'s nurse who told me my mother must have had a "reaction" to the injection and should probably use a different product next time. I wonder if these injections can be put in the wrong place in the knee area and that might cause pain.
Avatar n tn If you are buying online, then you should be typing Diclofenac or Ibuprofen gel. In case you don't get these you can also type muscle relaxant gel or pain killer gel. If you are buying in person also you can ask for similar names gel which I think should be available without prescription. Keep me informed if you still have any doubts. Bye.
1083310 tn?1260110882 Synvisc is a gel-like mixture that is made up of hylan A fluid, hylan B gel, and salt water. Hylan A and hylan B are made from a substance called hyaluronan (pronounced hye-a-loo-ROE-nan), also known as sodium hyaluronate that comes from chicken combs. This is a natural substance found in the body and is present in very high amounts in joints. The body's own hyaluronan acts like a lubricant and a shock absorber in the joint and is needed for the joint to work properly.
Avatar f tn The doctor prescribed Phorpain Gel Maximum Strength which is an Ibuprofen gel. I have only used it twice so cannot comment on its effectiveness. Hope yu get sorted out soon Best wishes.
Avatar n tn I have osteoarthritis in my wrists and finger, worse in my right hand . I have had cortisone shots which does not help , this was caused from a injury at work . I also have signs of carpel tunnel , this has been going on for over 2 yrs.
1110049 tn?1409405744 I have just ordered some gel that is supposed to help with osteoarthritis pain. I can't get my head around the fact that at 73, I may have to live with this pain for the rest of my life. I was always active. Liked walking, gardening, getting out and about. I am so frustrated, and as I also have depression, am sinking lower and lower. Sorry to moan, as I am sure everyone who posts here is in pain too. Could I just have some input on how you deal with it. Thank you so much.
Avatar n tn The Second week went to a Bone specialist who checked and said it looks I have got Sciatica pain and put me on drugs and Volini Gel. Well on the first visit to the doctor the pain was on the hip side of the right leg. After taking the medicine and Gel the pain spread to the calf and was terrible. I was told to have complete rest for two weeks. Well the second week passed and pain was the same. Felt well with tablets but when the drug effect over the pain came back.
Avatar f tn Said to use saline spray and lots of saline gel and drink a lot of water as I am dry all over. I did find out I am very allergic to molds, grass and tree pollen and started allergy shots 3 months ago but have gotten worse since last year when this all started. Always raked leaves with no problem before that. Now I need a mask to vacuum.
Avatar n tn You should probably see your doctor and get a formal diagnosis but this sounds like arthritis. In most cases, this is osteoarthritis. It may or may not be related to perimenopause.
Avatar f tn I have very bad osteoarthritis in my hands at the base of the thumbs. I had a joint replacement in the left one that didn't work and has left me worse off. I have found that for my hip, knees and back, that swimming or an elliptical machine helps, as does diet. I am in pain management and at times use narcotics for the pain. I always use ibuprofen. Nothing really takes all the pain away but it can take the edge off.
Avatar f tn Four years ago I was dx with osteoarthritis of both knees. Dr. said that I was walking "bone on bone" and that eventually I'd probably need tkr in both knees. He advised using glucosamine chondroitin which I've done and for awhile it seemed to help. I was able to increase my exercise a bit and was walking more with less pain and swelling. In the past few months pain and swelling has increased which I attributed to less exercise and some weight gain, about 4 or 5 pounds.
Avatar f tn HAS anyone ever tried either of those for Osteoarthritis which is what I have in my knees and feet? if so please give me all the suggestions. I need to take something NON NARCOTIC and Ibuprophen isn't cutting it...nor is the Calcium, Magnesium Zinc combo Ive been on for 3 months now???? HELP!!!????
Avatar f tn i would try other options for pain relief- TENS unit, lidocaine patches, volteran gel (rx), etc. doesn't matter who you are, you will build a tolerance to opiates. you will need more and more just to not feel withdrawals. they really are not good for chronic pain.
415109 tn?1304893782 I have tried Naproxyn, rest, heat, ice, pain relieving gel, Tyl#3, and it is just not going away. The pain is now radiating down my forearm and into my hand. I had similiar episode 3 years ago with (L) that eventually required surgery and has never bothered me since. I did go through 3 injections prior to the surgery and each time it helped for a short time. I am leery of getting steroids as I know they can do more damage than good but I am oh so tired of this.
Avatar f tn Bilateral tendonitis, or what ortho said was tendonitis said i'm too young for arthritis, even though osteoarthritis was found throughout my spine. (I'm late 30's). Referred to second opinion for my wrists, hurts to do everything but pushing through, in tears by end of the day. History of IBD with surgery so NSAIDs hurt my stomach plus I have asthma which it exacerbates. Even the voltaren gel bothers my asthma and stomach.
Avatar f tn Even simple carrying a bag of milk and a bottle of sprite can set it off and in past weeks they have been really weak holding even a glass of water, toothbrush, Sometimes using a knife in left hand, opening milk etc. I have been wearing wrist brace and have some gel from doctors. Is there anything else I can do at home instead of bothering the doctor and if this sounds like a strain? Help would be great. Why are no results showing up if I'am uncomfortable?
9668401 tn?1405180284 if they are referring to fentanyl, i give a big, fat, DON'T DO IT.
Avatar f tn Apparently, there is a gel that is already made up that can be used. It is called Emulgel. I think I may ask about that at the next doc. appt.
1524304 tn?1326400574 Mostly it doesn't hurt. I was applying gel on it and it seems getting better. Two days ago started to use elastic tape, feels better while walking. But still, should I worry? I'm just wondering since I am about to get a job and it worries me. I can't afford seeing doctor (reason I'm job seeking) and I just hope I'll get another job where I'd be more sitting instead of carrying weight because I'm kinda afraid to mess up my knee more I might have...
Avatar f tn You might want to ask your doctor about trying Viltaren gel. It's a topical prescription gel NSAID. I've found it helps take the edge off in conjunction with other things, though in truth, lately I'm having more bad days than good days. The suggestions of talking to your doctor about an NSAID is a good one. I don't know where I'd be without my prescription 800 mg ibuprofen. I find it helps other medications/treatments work better.
Avatar f tn This drug is the same thing that is in the Voltaren gel that I've been prescribed for external use on my osteoarthritis of the thumbs. I also have cirrhosis and I did some research on the drug. My hepatologist did give me the okay to use it, but after reading this FDA warning on possible liver damage from the drug (http://www.fda.gov/safety/medwatch/safetyinformation/safetyalertsforhumanmedicalproducts/ucm193047.htm) I've been exceedingly cautious and sparing in its use.
Avatar f tn Even feels sore down the back of my nose into the throat area now. Said to use saline spray and lots of saline gel and drink a lot of water as I am dry all over. I did find out I am very allergic to molds, grass and tree pollen and started allergy shots 3 months ago but have gotten worse since last year when this all started. Always raked leaves with no problem before that. Now I need a mask to vacuum and 7 years ago had professional mold remediation done in the house.. .
