Avatar f tn Lately I have been putting Voltaren gel on my forehead. I'm doing this to soothe pain from inflammation caused by increased circulation from running a lot. Is this ok? I know it takes away pain, reduces inflammation, and increases blood circulation. Also I got the blood flowing through some decadent veins and arteries on my skull. It is really annoying but gets better everyday. What do you think?
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
1083310 tn?1260107282 Synvisc is a gel-like mixture that is made up of hylan A fluid, hylan B gel, and salt water. Hylan A and hylan B are made from a substance called hyaluronan (pronounced hye-a-loo-ROE-nan), also known as sodium hyaluronate that comes from chicken combs. This is a natural substance found in the body and is present in very high amounts in joints. The body's own hyaluronan acts like a lubricant and a shock absorber in the joint and is needed for the joint to work properly.
Avatar n tn I have osteoarthritis in my wrists and finger, worse in my right hand . I have had cortisone shots which does not help , this was caused from a injury at work . I also have signs of carpel tunnel , this has been going on for over 2 yrs.
Avatar f tn Said to use saline spray and lots of saline gel and drink a lot of water as I am dry all over. I did find out I am very allergic to molds, grass and tree pollen and started allergy shots 3 months ago but have gotten worse since last year when this all started. Always raked leaves with no problem before that. Now I need a mask to vacuum.
1110049 tn?1409402144 How do other people deal with the pain of arthritis. I have had treatment from an osteopath, and a physiotherapist. I do exercises I have been given by my doctor and the physiotherapist. I take pain killers every four hours as instructed. I keep mobile as best I can. I have just ordered some gel that is supposed to help with osteoarthritis pain. I can't get my head around the fact that at 73, I may have to live with this pain for the rest of my life. I was always active.

Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar f tn HAS anyone ever tried either of those for Osteoarthritis which is what I have in my knees and feet? if so please give me all the suggestions. I need to take something NON NARCOTIC and Ibuprophen isn't cutting it...nor is the Calcium, Magnesium Zinc combo Ive been on for 3 months now???? HELP!!!????
Avatar f tn Apparently, there is a gel that is already made up that can be used. It is called Emulgel. I think I may ask about that at the next doc. appt.
415109 tn?1304890182 I have tried Naproxyn, rest, heat, ice, pain relieving gel, Tyl#3, and it is just not going away. The pain is now radiating down my forearm and into my hand. I had similiar episode 3 years ago with (L) that eventually required surgery and has never bothered me since. I did go through 3 injections prior to the surgery and each time it helped for a short time. I am leery of getting steroids as I know they can do more damage than good but I am oh so tired of this.
Avatar f tn Even simple carrying a bag of milk and a bottle of sprite can set it off and in past weeks they have been really weak holding even a glass of water, toothbrush, Sometimes using a knife in left hand, opening milk etc. I have been wearing wrist brace and have some gel from doctors. Is there anything else I can do at home instead of bothering the doctor and if this sounds like a strain? Help would be great. Why are no results showing up if I'am uncomfortable?
Avatar f tn Yor description of your arthritic pain could have been written by me! It is somewhat unusual to have so many joints affected. My mom suffered terribly with the same. I'm also in my early fifties. My arthritis started in my twenties. In 2007 I had a joint replacement in my thumb. Unfortunately the implant itself failed (in most people that had it.). I had 8 more surgeries that resulted in me developing RSD/CRPS.
Avatar f tn Four years ago I was dx with osteoarthritis of both knees. Dr. said that I was walking "bone on bone" and that eventually I'd probably need tkr in both knees. He advised using glucosamine chondroitin which I've done and for awhile it seemed to help. I was able to increase my exercise a bit and was walking more with less pain and swelling. In the past few months pain and swelling has increased which I attributed to less exercise and some weight gain, about 4 or 5 pounds.
Avatar f tn Going to pcp this morning. Just finished levaquin for 3 weeks, didn't seem to touch my sinus infection. Feeling pain in my back like i did last year when i had pneumonia. So tired. Avatar f tn I am scheduled to have orthoscopic knee surgery on my right knee to correct problems I am having related to osteoarthritis. Does this type of surgery prevent osteoarthritis from returning? Is this surgery safe? What is recovery like after surgery? Any information anyone has regarding this topic will be greatly appreciated.
