osteoarthritis

Avatar f tn I have had mild osteoarthritis in my right hand, of and on. Now I have knee pain, both knees, elbow pain, foot pain (orthotics (4 diff pairs) haven't helped). Not severe enough to take meds. Have been sleeping on a magnetic mat for 3 years. Doesn't seem to help. Have been going to osteopath, masseur, acupuncturist, nutritionist (treating inflammation). No real relief. Other issue (related?) is poor blood circulation (circulatory disorder). Not overweight (120lbs at 5'4.
Avatar m tn When you say you have been diagnosed with arthritis in your big toe, is this osteoarthritis, Gout or a bunion? All these are very painful and are treated differently. There are special medications for gout. Normal pain relief and anti inflammatory drugs, compresses and rest for the foot if this is osteoarthritis. For your migraines these can be triggered off by certain foods, allergy to medications, stress and anxiety.
Avatar m tn 50years old man not aware of any medical problems complains of pain related to his joints in different places ( fingers, knee, foot ankle) it takes 2 weeks relief by ibuprofen and voltaren emulgel so the question is what is your recommendation about this case ? do you advice of some vitamins especially that he is getting older?
1091845 tn?1263162000 my one leg is much worse than the other and on this side I too have pain down into my foot...the foot will burn but not the leg/legs....with the legs its more of a tightness/muscle spasm feeling and the non stop ache... (hey I too need SPELL CHECK, you are NOT alone here either!) I have discribed my leg pain as they feel like they are encased in cement...maybe more accurate is they feel like they are CEMENT...heavy,hard to bend, and SOLID...
1378884 tn?1315505845 AWESOME answer!. It's what I thought he was doing, ruling out RA. I don't seem to have the typical RA symptoms (which is reassuring) either. I have had to adjust my movement because of the R hip and now am having issues with my Left Knee. Crazy!. Anyway your help will provide me with conversation material with my Doc in a couple weeks. The Prednisone is really not helping the hip or back pain pain as of yet but it's early.
Avatar m tn The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting. Lying down, getting up, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, any movement may cause the grabbing pain unexpectedly. It seems to radiate from the spine across the top of the hip and down the right leg.
Avatar f tn Maybe its my age which makes healing take longer, as I fracured a cuboin bone in my right foot in July after a heavy fall and the top of the foot is still quite sore at times - though I would say that is slowly getting better but the hand is not really improving in the tense short sharp pain.
Avatar n tn Immediately after surgery I had severe right foot pain that has progressively gotten worse. I have had several nerve blocks with no relief. Now they are saying that I should have another surgery to remove the plates because it could be that a screw is touching the nerve going to my right foot. I do not want to have more surgery. Does anyone have a suggestion where I can get some relief without having additional surgery?
Avatar m tn I am 52 and had fusion surgery on a pinched nerve that I had on the L5 of the spine in 2012. I had no problems in 2013. This year, 2014, about a month ago, I started getting a numbness, tingling, pins & needles feeling on my left leg and right foot big toe. I have osteoarthritis and had fusion surgery in May on my right foot big toe that goes numb. The pain would start in my hip/buttock area on the left side and would go down to my outer shin area.
Avatar n tn If you have osteoarthritis then have acupuncture for pain relief
1467506 tn?1286413017 48 year old female with Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis: I had surgery on my foot 2 months ago to remove a bone spur on the top of my foot. I also had a toe (second toe, next to great toe) that was affected by separate pain and had completely turned crooked. The top of my foot - where the spur was removed is still very sore and painful if I wear shoes that tie or walk for any distance. The entire foot feels cramped as well.
Avatar f tn Both caregiver222 and jemma116 have provided accurate information. The two sciatic nerves are the largest nerves in the human body. They are formed on each side from elements of the lumbar nerve roots, and runs beneath the piriformis region in the pelvis, exiting the pelvis at the greater sciatic foramen, where it runs down the back of the thigh to an area just above the knee. Here it divides into the tibial and fibular nerves.
Avatar f tn The end of May I started having pain and contacted my doctor, I was not able to get in for 3 weeks and the pain increased and had extreme sciatic pain running from my hip to the bottom of foot on both sides. I have done everything possible, over the counter drugs, exercising in pool, massage therapy, physical therapy, accupuncture, pain shots, perscription Motrin 800mg, Vicodin 7.5-750, Hydrocodone/APAP 5/500, with very little relief. I received the second series of Supartz almost 1 1/2 mos.
Avatar m tn Lately there has been some pain in toes and occasionally down the sole of my foot. I have also begun having pain in my hands. Started in the joint at the base of my thumbs, but now I'm noticing it in my finger joints and thumb joint. I mentioned this to my MD at my annual physical and she felt that it was probably osteoarthritis (mainly due to the fact that there was no redness around the joints). She didn't order any kind of tests to confirm this diagnosis.
1467506 tn?1286413017 Hi there...when I'm having a "worse day" with my Fibro...I do get that finger pain. It's just an aching pain exactly where you describe it. Not something I have every day, just on my not-so-good days. I've also been checked for RA and don't have it. I have a bit of osteoarthritis in my back and knees but the doc says it's normal for my age.
11446628 tn?1418298480 I have osteoarthritis in my spine, from neck down. I also have pain in my knee and hands, and my fingers are twisting and have knots. My right knee has had pain and swelling for weeks, and this morning it's too painful to walk. I haven't injured it. Recent blood test didn't report rheumatoid arthritis. So what's going on with my knee, and with my hands?
900459 tn?1304993259 Ok so yeseterday i went to my dr because my shoulder has been bothering me for roughly 3 weeks getting worse by the day to the point now where it hurts really bad if i pick my arm up anything over parallel with the ground and it pops and all of that and is reallly painful and get really bad at night because of the way i sleep so i get up every bout hour and a half because i cant stand the pain and my dr said he ruled out it being a torn rotator cuff and believes i have arthritis in both shoulder
Avatar n tn Cortisone injections are very common to give temporary relief from pain and inflammation. Because of its long-term side effects though, there may be a limit as to how many shots he can get during the year. Many doctors may also be reluctant to give more than a certain number of shots overall, and eventually recommend surgery as a more permanent solution. A lot will depend on how well your husband does with the shots.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering with debilitating foot pain for almost two years. First diagnose was Plantar Fasciitis and I was treated with injections and a walker boot and also PT. Six months later I was diagnosed with fractures in both heels and have been in two casts, crutches and another walking boot. I am still in pain! I just had an MRI that shows Marrow Edema in four bones of my foot. What does this mean? I do not see the Dr. again for two weeks!
Avatar f tn For as long as I can remember my feet have been shaped the same way. Where most people get bunions my foot gets painful and red and from the back of my great toe straight back on top of my foor I get a throbbing pain and sometimes I can't even stand the sheet to touch my foot. Now the other one is starting off and on to hurt. I have been diagnosed with high risk osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.
Avatar m tn I understand your concern regarding your symptoms. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and it causes pain, swelling, and reduced motion in the joints. if there is no pain associated with the joint cracks or pops, this may be caused by the soft tissue in a joint. Knee popping may also occur if the patella is slightly out of alignment, and rubs on the adjacent tissues. Other causes of joint noise is the snapping of tendons or scar tissue over a prominence, or cavitation.
657653 tn?1224680706 I am 72.l When I was 56 I had my total right hip replaced;then when I was 60 my left hip was replaced. In between times I had both thumb joints replaced. Then when I was 63 both knees had total replacements. A couple of years ago my right shoulder had surgery but it was not replaced. Now I am having extreme pain in my left foot & anterior ankle. Had x-rays taken & Dr. says its arfthritis throughout both of my feet. On top of it-I have diabetic neuropathy. What can they do for my feet?
Avatar f tn I have tons of interests and things I would love to do but this chronic foot/knee/leg pain puts a major damper on my outlook on life. To look at me one would never guess my age or think there was one thing 'wrong' with me. But I'm in terrible pain all the time and it's at the point now where I can't hide it any longer from others because I hobble around like Dustin Hoffman did in "Midnight Cowboy".
