Osteoarthritis foot pain relief

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis foot pain relief

osteoarthritis

Avatar m tn The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting. Lying down, getting up, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, any movement may cause the grabbing pain unexpectedly. It seems to radiate from the spine across the top of the hip and down the right leg.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis when I was 16 years old in L5 and S1. There are many things you can try.. they do try to do blocks but it hurts more than it helps as L5 is a hard nerve to get to.. I have pain that goes all the way down the outside of my left thigh and then to the inside of my left calf and makes my foot just ache...
1378884 tn?1315509445 The Prednisone is really not helping the hip or back pain pain as of yet but it's early. Is celebrez ok for inflammation relief with fewer side affects? Thanks Again.
1091845 tn?1263165600 my one leg is much worse than the other and on this side I too have pain down into my foot...the foot will burn but not the leg/legs....with the legs its more of a tightness/muscle spasm feeling and the non stop ache... (hey I too need SPELL CHECK, you are NOT alone here either!) I have discribed my leg pain as they feel like they are encased in cement...maybe more accurate is they feel like they are CEMENT...heavy,hard to bend, and SOLID...
Avatar f tn Now I have knee pain, both knees, elbow pain, foot pain (orthotics (4 diff pairs) haven't helped). Not severe enough to take meds. Have been sleeping on a magnetic mat for 3 years. Doesn't seem to help. Have been going to osteopath, masseur, acupuncturist, nutritionist (treating inflammation). No real relief. Other issue (related?) is poor blood circulation (circulatory disorder). Not overweight (120lbs at 5'4.
Avatar n tn The pain is felt in the lower back, buttock, and/or various parts of the leg and foot. In addition to pain, which is sometimes severe, there may be numbness, muscular weakness, and difficulty in moving or controlling the leg.A MRI back or MR neurography will help in diagnosis. Some of these causes like dehydration, being overweight, alcohol intake and prolonged standing are modifiable by efforts of the patient.
Avatar m tn Lately there has been some pain in toes and occasionally down the sole of my foot. I have also begun having pain in my hands. Started in the joint at the base of my thumbs, but now I'm noticing it in my finger joints and thumb joint. I mentioned this to my MD at my annual physical and she felt that it was probably osteoarthritis (mainly due to the fact that there was no redness around the joints). She didn't order any kind of tests to confirm this diagnosis.
Avatar f tn The end of May I started having pain and contacted my doctor, I was not able to get in for 3 weeks and the pain increased and had extreme sciatic pain running from my hip to the bottom of foot on both sides. I have done everything possible, over the counter drugs, exercising in pool, massage therapy, physical therapy, accupuncture, pain shots, perscription Motrin 800mg, Vicodin 7.5-750, Hydrocodone/APAP 5/500, with very little relief. I received the second series of Supartz almost 1 1/2 mos.
Avatar f tn Both caregiver222 and jemma116 have provided accurate information. The two sciatic nerves are the largest nerves in the human body. They are formed on each side from elements of the lumbar nerve roots, and runs beneath the piriformis region in the pelvis, exiting the pelvis at the greater sciatic foramen, where it runs down the back of the thigh to an area just above the knee. Here it divides into the tibial and fibular nerves.
Avatar m tn The range of motion in the joint is *almost* normal and there is no stiffness or problems in that regard, at the moment I simply experience mild pain/discomfort with activity. I am very active (weightlifting, martial arts, spin classes, hiking, paintballing etc) and have only started to show regular symptoms in the last six months or so. As it was explained to me, what's happened to my joint is that the tibia has healed at an angle which is putting pressure on the front of the ankle.
Avatar f tn Looking forward to hearing from you often and hopefully you will have something that will help with your pain, not just your foot pain but all the pain your experiencing over your body. Best wishes........
Avatar n tn Immediately after surgery I had severe right foot pain that has progressively gotten worse. I have had several nerve blocks with no relief. Now they are saying that I should have another surgery to remove the plates because it could be that a screw is touching the nerve going to my right foot. I do not want to have more surgery. Does anyone have a suggestion where I can get some relief without having additional surgery?
Avatar f tn It can be like the chicken and the egg - stress causes pain, pain causes more stress, which causes more pain, etc. Make stress management part of your overall self-care plan. It won't hurt, and it might help. It sounds like you've been doing a lot of research into your symptoms. It's absolutely a good thing to educate yourself, however if you don't know what your dealing with, navigating the confusing labyrinth of symptoms and possible causes can increase your anxiety.
748543 tn?1463449675 While at work the other day, I received an email notification from my oldest and most popular blog on TMJ/TMD Pain Relief matters. While reading it and in my mind formulating my answer to a TMJ and TMD Prototypical Patient, I realized that the post really deserved its own thread. I am including the post here. Dear Dr. Nassery- You have heard this before but thank you and Dr Chan for continuing this blog, it is very important to the TMD community.

Avatar m tn I am 52 and had fusion surgery on a pinched nerve that I had on the L5 of the spine in 2012. I had no problems in 2013. This year, 2014, about a month ago, I started getting a numbness, tingling, pins & needles feeling on my left leg and right foot big toe. I have osteoarthritis and had fusion surgery in May on my right foot big toe that goes numb. The pain would start in my hip/buttock area on the left side and would go down to my outer shin area.
Avatar m tn 50years old man not aware of any medical problems complains of pain related to his joints in different places ( fingers, knee, foot ankle) it takes 2 weeks relief by ibuprofen and voltaren emulgel so the question is what is your recommendation about this case ? do you advice of some vitamins especially that he is getting older?
Avatar m tn When you say you have been diagnosed with arthritis in your big toe, is this osteoarthritis, Gout or a bunion? All these are very painful and are treated differently. There are special medications for gout. Normal pain relief and anti inflammatory drugs, compresses and rest for the foot if this is osteoarthritis. For your migraines these can be triggered off by certain foods, allergy to medications, stress and anxiety.
Avatar f tn I had such severe foot pain that I had problems walking for a while. It felt like I was walking on rocks. It turns out that my feet were just spastic in the bottoms - one was the arch of the foot, and the other was the outside. Hubby pounded on them for me, which helped a lot, but really it just took time for the problem to go away. About four weeks, I think, although it felt longer.
Avatar f tn i have bad hip pain in my right side, it sometimes goes down my leg and into my foot and when this happens it is hard to walk on. it has started to go over to my left side now. can u help?

Avatar f tn Maybe its my age which makes healing take longer, as I fracured a cuboin bone in my right foot in July after a heavy fall and the top of the foot is still quite sore at times - though I would say that is slowly getting better but the hand is not really improving in the tense short sharp pain.
Avatar n tn Cortisone injections are very common to give temporary relief from pain and inflammation. Because of its long-term side effects though, there may be a limit as to how many shots he can get during the year. Many doctors may also be reluctant to give more than a certain number of shots overall, and eventually recommend surgery as a more permanent solution. A lot will depend on how well your husband does with the shots.
Avatar m tn I found a research study that seemed extremely promising and was pleasantly surprised to find I enjoyed appreciable pain relief after merely 2-3 days of starting the pills. I only needed to resort to my anti-inflammatory salve for a day a few times in the first months after switching, and haven't touched it now for well over a year.
1415174 tn?1453246703 I have pain my my left buttock, feels like a trigger point probably, and muscle pain in my left leg and foot. I also have a couple of muscle knots in my shoulder blades and one under the chin (CT scan was negative). I was surprised about accupuncture having the pain drop to zero from a 6. I was going to give up on it and didn't really believe in it although some say that it has worked for them but my doctor insisted I stay with it.
Avatar n tn Why did you have surgery? If you had a few months of pain from a large herniated disc, then relief after a microdiscectomy can be instantaneous to taking a few weeks. It can sometimes not go away completely either but is less. It could also have recurred - just in the post-op period. Microdiscectomy is a very successful operation in most cases- hopefully, you will get better. I would probably wait it out a bit until your followup.
1467506 tn?1286416617 48 year old female with Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis: I had surgery on my foot 2 months ago to remove a bone spur on the top of my foot. I also had a toe (second toe, next to great toe) that was affected by separate pain and had completely turned crooked. The top of my foot - where the spur was removed is still very sore and painful if I wear shoes that tie or walk for any distance. The entire foot feels cramped as well.
Avatar n tn You could also take up swimming (if allowed), yoga, physiotherapy and exercises. All these will also help bring some pain relief. Good diabetes control is also very important and swimming along with diet control and medication can help you a lot. Please talk to your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
408795 tn?1324939275 It causes my toe to go numb and sometimes wakes me up at night out of a deep sleep with intense pain in my foot. It has been injected twice which has not helped. I have asked my GI doc a few times and he says none of this is from the HCV. I am treatment naive but high VL. I have been convinced for a few years that they are all related somehow. I agree with DD that I think this is systemic and that they do not know enough about it yet. I am 46 and should not feel like I am 86, which I do.
