osteoarthritis

Avatar n tn ( Is it possible that osteoarthritis could end my pain-free life at age 30?
Avatar m tn ve noticed that when I plant my left foot and pivot on it to turn my body to the right, my left knee makes a popping sound. For a few days I could feel something move in the same knee when I would walk down stairs. It felt like it was located to the left (outside) of the center of the knee. That went away. The right knee doesn't have any issues. There is no pain, tenderness, or swelling involved at all. Does this sound like it could be osteoarthritis?
657653 tn?1224680706 Hi, How are you? Degenerative arthritis is also called osteoarthritis or "wear and tear" arthritis. It is a form of arthritis that causes the gradual breakdown of the cartilage that cushions the joints. Movement then causes the bones to rub against each other, which is painful. Degenerative arthritis is characterized by inflammation, breakdown and eventual loss of the cartilage of the joints. This can be caused by obesity, bad posture, repeated trauma or injury, and overuse.
Avatar m tn Hello, The various possibilities for popping, clicking joints are a cartilage tear or rotator cuff tear that is rubbing with the joint, arthrosis or degeneration of the joint and arthritis esp osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.More harmless is clicking of joints due to relatively lax joint capsules, that allows more than a usual amount of movement. Try stretching your joints if you don’t like cracking them as often and pls do stretches that stretch the ligaments around those joints.
Avatar m tn For the past three months I have been having this pain on the bottom of my foot right in the middle. I have seen my doctor and he doesn't seemed worried, but its a PAIN when I walk. What could this pain be and what could be causing it ?
Avatar f tn After several weeks of discomfort in the sole of my foot after surgery, and not finding an answer from my primary doctor, All my primary suggested was inflamation in my foot. It wasnt enough for me so I went to a specialist I already have problems with my doot so I thought it best to go to a specialist. He took x rays and determined it was Osteoarthritist. The big concern at first was blood clots since it was right after surgery. I still am concerned about this. Can you still get them?
1091845 tn?1263162000 my one leg is much worse than the other and on this side I too have pain down into my foot...the foot will burn but not the leg/legs....with the legs its more of a tightness/muscle spasm feeling and the non stop ache... Avatar m tn 50years old man not aware of any medical problems complains of pain related to his joints in different places ( fingers, knee, foot ankle) it takes 2 weeks relief by ibuprofen and voltaren emulgel so the question is what is your recommendation about this case ? do you advice of some vitamins especially that he is getting older?
Avatar f tn Recently, I have also developed a tingling sensation in my left foot. Not sure if these two are related or not. I had a pelvic MRI 17 months ago for a lump in my left pelvis, which turned out to be nothing. Would the MRI have picked up anything serious in the hip area? I have an appointment with an orthopedist set up, but with the tingling foot, I am starting to become worried. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn I have been recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my large toe. I believe it is from repeated trauma to that joints having been climbing a local mountain and upon descending much stress is put on that lead foot. I take glucosamine and that's about it, although I do wear insoles in my running shoes that help a bit. There is swelling that doesn't diminish and pain is intermittent. I'm considering checking into surgery and wonder if anyone has any advice about this. Thanks !
1378884 tn?1315505845 In a nutshell, osteoarthritis is wear-and-tear on the joint. It can happen at any age, not just to "old people". It can be brought on by an injury, a congenital deformity, overuse in a sport or job. RA is a malfunction of the immune system in which it mistakes joint tissue, mainly the cartilage, as something that must be attacked and eliminated. This causes the typical swelling, redness, heat, and over time, damage that causes pain and disability.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering with debilitating foot pain for almost two years. First diagnose was Plantar Fasciitis and I was treated with injections and a walker boot and also PT. Six months later I was diagnosed with fractures in both heels and have been in two casts, crutches and another walking boot. I am still in pain! I just had an MRI that shows Marrow Edema in four bones of my foot. What does this mean? I do not see the Dr. again for two weeks!
Avatar n tn He is 55 years old, has history of seizues at night, but he is not taking his primidone because he had no episodes for long time now, he has high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes(his blood sugar is under control), severe osteoarthritis in left knee- needs knee replacement, arthritis in right foot, old left ankle/foot surgery in the past, lumbar stenosis with compression of the dural sac, and asthma(under control). This episodes of tremor has been happening for two days in a row.
1281603 tn?1283798699 The plan should be to get him to a diabetic wound care specialist for a consultation and recommended treatment. These wound care centers are very good at what they do. Oral antibiotics do not travel well to the extremities and there is no rationale for prophalactic antibiotics. If he needs antibiotic for infection they will probably be administered intravenously.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed w/a Bakers cyst several years ago via kneww MRI. I also have severe osteoarthritis in both knees and just about every place else it can be on a human being and I'm only 60. I've had osteoarthritis since I was diagnosed at age 27. AS far as the Bakers Cyst goes, I saw nothing at all that looked different behind that knee but I had a great deal of pain especially when I extended my leg. Then, it went away.
Avatar f tn I have had mild osteoarthritis in my right hand, of and on. Now I have knee pain, both knees, elbow pain, foot pain (orthotics (4 diff pairs) haven't helped). Not severe enough to take meds. Have been sleeping on a magnetic mat for 3 years. Doesn't seem to help. Have been going to osteopath, masseur, acupuncturist, nutritionist (treating inflammation). No real relief. Other issue (related?) is poor blood circulation (circulatory disorder). Not overweight (120lbs at 5'4.
Avatar m tn About a year ago I had intense pain in my left foot. After seeing a podiatrist and having a bone scan it was determined that I had a stress fracture in my cuboid bone. During that time I was in the Army and had already been diagnosed with plantar fascistis, heel spur, bone spur in my ankle, and possible osteoarthritis in my midfoot. The doctor said that I could just wear a boot for 3 weeks and then it would be fine.
5081736 tn?1363311067 You can dip feet in warm water and give yourself a foot massage and see if this relieves the pain. You should also wear comfortable foot wear. If these tips help lower the foot pain, you could touch the black spot and see if it is still painful. I am sorry, but you need to see a doctor regarding this. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn My question is whether anyone can tell me if osteoarthritis in the lower spine can cause grabbing, debilitating pain that causes the patient to cry out it is so severe. These pains act like pinched nerves, but MRS and Neurological testing shows no nerve damage from the spine. The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting.
Avatar f tn How do you determine if one leg is shorter than other and could it be the reason for my right leg/foot and knee problems? I have had posterior tibilis dysfunction in right foot and neuromas as well as osteoarthritis, now torn cartilege in right knee and hip pain.
Avatar m tn Lately there has been some pain in toes and occasionally down the sole of my foot. I have also begun having pain in my hands. Started in the joint at the base of my thumbs, but now I'm noticing it in my finger joints and thumb joint. I mentioned this to my MD at my annual physical and she felt that it was probably osteoarthritis (mainly due to the fact that there was no redness around the joints). She didn't order any kind of tests to confirm this diagnosis.
