Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis diet chart

osteoarthritis

Avatar n tn range on my doctor's chart. She tested my hs CRP after my diagnosis of hypertension (160/92). I am on a low fat diet now, she added Lovastatin and I am exercising four days a week for 45-60 mins (treadmill and weight lifting). I have osteoarthritis and recently received a cortisone shot for a bakers cyst in R knee. My question: Should I have additional testing to evaluate my CV system, like stress test or thallium stress test.
483733 tn?1326802046 I have a few questions I am hoping I can get help with. 1. Have you had any benefits to changing your diet? I don't eat processed food and eat a pretty balanced diet. Is there anything I should add or avoid? 2. I am taking Plaquenil. Can I drink wine occasionally or do I need to cut it out? I also read that it can interfere with hypothyroid meds. Anyone have experience with that? 3. How do you know if the Lupus is moving into your organs. What symptoms should I watch for? 4.
Avatar n tn You are NOT alone! We are all here for you! Sometimes we can't respond right away, but we will respond. It's a crying shame what they put you through. Time to find another new "doctor" huh? IF that should ever happen again...offer up an arm to the doctor and tell him to draw blood and check for drugs in your system...that ought to shut him up. Or tell him that you aren't there for drugs...you just want to know what is wrong.
Avatar f tn The vision in my left eye deceased three lines (on the eye chart in one year), I can miss seeing items small or large. All items in my peripheral vision have motion. I have passed all the eye tests and been told that my problems are all of a neurological nature. I tried to have three new eye glass prescriptions filled with no luck at all. In Feb 09 there was a time when I felt a strange tingling down my right side. It lasted about 15 minutes, then I felt strange for the rest of the day.
168348 tn?1379360675 I still have a copy of the hand out my naturopath gave me about the Elimination Diet. It names SOME of the most common food sensitivities/allergies. It names: wheat, dairy, soy, corn, citrus, eggs, alcohol, chocolate, obvious sugar, coffee, peanuts, and potatoes. In addition to these common sensitivities and allergies I would include shellfish, more specifically crustaceans. I would also include strawberries, garlic and onions. Garlic and onions are sulphur foods.
Avatar n tn Just be careful with the herbs - I was on a remedy that shot my ast/alts up a few years back.
Avatar n tn Ask for them to see you without having any chart on you, so they can see you as a fresh patient. You can tell them about your symptoms, and if they want the same blood tests you've already had, you can produce the negative results, but try to avoid mentioning the previous diagnosis of panic disorder. This should give you the best chance of getting an unbiased opinion. If they still think it's panic disorder, then you'll at least have it from someone who wasn't biased to begin with.
Avatar f tn At that point my ANA /SED/Etc were all negative. I was brushed off with a dx of osteoarthritis. At about 28, my colon stopped functioning (colon inertia) and was removed. Pathology came back as simple colon inertia even though my surgeon told me it was covered with lymph nodules (as was my entire GI tract inside and out, worst thing he ever saw he reported).
Avatar n tn my metabolism is shot..but after 12 exams... 5 courses...2 schools...15 yrs of real use..every diet there is ..and weird tricks.. drinking warm sauerkraut juice lemon juice, cayenne pepper, maple syrup, warm water no food.. no fat.. low fat high fat 500-800 grams of carbs low carbs no carbs low cal high cal saunas..I've done it all and after all this its the same everytime...calories in vs out............now I'm perfect at it..
Avatar n tn My endo and I agreed, that I was well on the road to becoming diabetic. Two month ago I went on a ultra low carbohydrate diet, and in conjunction with exercise brought the triglycerides down to 112, and the fasting glucose to 97. The diet excluded all breads, cereals, rice, pasta and potatoes. Now I am on a 60gram carbohydrate a day diet, and we see if I can maintain those numbers. I was always afraid that tx would leave me with diabetes, since I have a predisposition to it.
Avatar f tn I went to see a rheumatologist and I just found out I have Osteoarthritis which explains my excruciating pain when it flares up. Osteoarthritis fatigues you also the pain is horrible from top to bottom you feel stressed as well as depressed because you feel it will never end. But their is hope, I take diclofanac for the pain, but now I have to go back to the specialist to see how far it's advanced.
Avatar n tn , are typical of a problem with that level. If you look at a dermatome chart it will reflect what she is speaking of as far as her hands and arms go. Also, in reference to the pelvis. Orginally, I was diagnosed with a weak pelvic floor. I, too, could not lie on my hips, my legs were weak and in pain. I went through PT to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.
579125 tn?1251579865 I'm sure someone can expound on the diet and supplement regime because I don't have a strict diet nor do I take supplements. What was the results of your biopsy? What grade were you given?
Avatar n tn Hi Dear Synvisc is used to relieve knee pain due to osteoarthritis (OA). It is approved for those patients who do not get adequate relief from painkillers such as acetaminophen, or from exercise and physical therapy. Synvisc is injected directly into the joint to restore the lubricating properties of normal joint fluid. The therapy is generally well tolerated. However, it may not work for everyone.
Avatar n tn The nurse asked me what I was there for and I told her I had to get my refills because I didn't have anymore so that is what she wrote on my chart. My doctor came in very aggrivated and told me that he could not "take part in this" and that I am ADDICTED to my medication. He then told me that because I am not making an effort to go walking outside *BECAUSE THE COLD HURTS ME SEVERLY* that I am not even making an effort to get better. He then asked me how many pills I take a day.
1183618 tn?1277368706 I am only 5 weeks into treatment. Currently taking 50,000IU weekly. My level was the same as yours. Friends who have seen me lately say I have better color in my cheeks and seem to have a little bit more energy. I have read that it can take months (3 to 9 or more) to get back they way you were, if your symptoms are do to Vitamin D def. You wrote "I still having some symptoms" Does this mean some others are improving? If so, I say keep moving forward.
Avatar n tn Amazingly, my liver enzymes remained pretty good through that period. The only time they were high off the chart(2004) was when I was on peg-intron/rebetol; I felt like I was being poisoned. My viral load has increased in increments of approximately 500,000 copies per year(after 6 mths. on interferon it jumped 1,000,000.) not the wild flucuations "everyone" seems to be experiencing. I am not anti-pharmecuetical(I take 130mgs.
Avatar n tn In that case, it's your decision and that's what you choose to do. Personally I wouldn't be txing if I didn't have osteoarthritis and acid reflux in the mix. Also, I'm a recovering addict and I had a serious incident happen to me while overtaxing my liver that quite frankly scared me into txing, after mulling it over for a number of years. The last thing about me is I'm 55 in Nov.
Avatar n tn My MD has switched me to the 25 mcg fentanyl patch and 3 vikes for breakthrough pain (chronic osteoarthritis) Next month we'll reduce to two supplemental tabs, then one, etc. I don't feel great--no high--but the sleeping has improved dramatically. I can even fall back asleep without additional "help". What I worry about is the possibility that I'm taking even more opiate medication than before. My research hasn't really given me any definitive answers.
Avatar n tn Drinking 55 oz of water before one brushes one's teeth, and then no food or beverages for one hour, will begin to heal over 30 diseases. A diet of fresh raw fruits and vegetables will also provide that needed diet of 80% alkaline raw foods needed to allow the body to heal from the inside out. Essential oils is another form to encourage the body to self heal.
Avatar n tn Plus, I don't think people should be given a pill just for weight loss. It is a good benefit, but exercise and diet are a better way. It's fair to us because we need the medication to aid other needs.
Avatar n tn I've gained significant weight while on these drugs (despite an intense exercise program and careful diet). My nutritionist and MD told me that the drugs likely altered my metabolism, but no one can tell me how long it will take to correct that. Most frustrating, I've noticed that since I stopped taking both, my weight gain has accelerated. Any ideas as to how long I need to endure this or ideas for correcting my metabolism? Thanks.
Avatar f tn One post was correct in that this can be a major symptom of hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism can be connected/caused by diet that is low in nutrients..and/or if you do eat healthy/whole foods your body may not be absorbing nutrients which can be due to food allergies. You can get simple bloods tests to test for thyroid disorder, test for vitamin/mineral deficiency such as B & D, hormone levels and also get an IgE blood panel for food allergies. It all seems to come back to our gut.
Avatar n tn I am 39 and I am in resonable health, working out regularly and watching my diet for the most part. This very sudden pain comes on very quickly. It's like a hot poker of electricity that lasts between 15-30 seconds in my left thigh 2-3 inched from the groin. During this time I can only pray that it will subside. I first started feeling the pain after a long drive to a holiday vacation so I put the reason to not moving much.
Avatar n tn I have since been to a chiropractor and am encouraged that a course of therapy will be helpful to me. I am also following a very organic fruit and vegetable diet in an effort to detox my body and let the body heal itself. The pain upon waking up is still happening, but it is less severe and does not last as long. My recovery may be coincidental to the new diet, but hey you never know. It is something you may want to consider. I think a visit to the chiropractor may do wonders as well.
211940 tn?1267884866 At night it is on a scale of 1-10 it is like off the chart around 20 and waking me several times a night. I'm a side sleeper who can't now and even on my back if my arms are moved just right it's excruciating. I can't put on my bra or take it off by just reaching behind myself. I have trouble dressing myself; sometimes I can't hold a glass without the pain. I can no longer pick my 17 month old grand daughter up. I can only lift my arms sideways up so far or straight up or behind me.
522415 tn?1242941355 And I literally watched a clock to see when I could take another dose of pain medicine not because it got rid of the pain but it did ease it up where I could tolerate it a while longer. Nothing else not even diet or exercise which I have tried in my search for something to make a difference. So here it is it's a juice made from the mangosteen fruit. If you like me your first reaction will be that is crazy! No juice can help with what I'm dealing with.
363682 tn?1299492962 And it could explain why he was still getting headache after he stopped drinking alcohol since many foods are high in histamine. I plan on starting a 4 week histamine free diet to see if this helps my problem. The only histamine free alcohols are plain vodka, gin, and white rum. Since I am not a hard liquor fan, this is saddening for me. But I will try anything at this point. Here is a website that lists allowed and restricted foods and beverages that I found if anyone is interested to try.
Avatar f tn Caffeine will immediately bring it on as well as alcohol. Has anyone else had it relate to Gall Bladder before? It truly seems diet related to me, when it's happening it feels like something is stuck in my stomach/intestines. Drinking carbonated beverages seems to help a lot. I get constipated sometimes, and that seems to trigger it as well. So something pinching on the vagus nerve makes a lot of sense. Thank you all so much for posting your experiences so I know I'm not going crazy!!
