Avatar n tn Furthermore, he does not feel it necessary to do any further testing to rule out underlying causes. My doctor is generally a bright guy. I like him, great doctor. But I feel like I need to respectfully disagree with his opinion that it isn't related to the accident due to my medical history - I've never had any constant joint pain anywhere except my ankle that's given me problems since I twisted it as a kid.
Avatar m tn I mentioned this to my MD at my annual physical and she felt that it was probably osteoarthritis (mainly due to the fact that there was no redness around the joints). She didn't order any kind of tests to confirm this diagnosis. I've also started to notice some tenderness in my elbow joints when resting my elbows on a table, and my knee joints have been a bit stiff and sore after using my exercise bike.

Avatar n tn Hi, I have been taking tramadol for 3 months now for fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. It really helps a lot. The only thing is...I believe it is the cause of my constipation the last few months. I have had to use laxatives on and off. When I try to go without, I get to day number six and resort to the laxative due to feeling so uncomfortable. Do you think that the tramadol is the cause and can I keep taking laxatives for a long period?

Avatar n tn Thing is i have seen some excellent neurologists here in birmingham (UK) and that is what they say.I have had countless bloodtests done, they say nothing congenital can be confirmed. They even checked for Spinal Muscle Atrophy gene. They reckon it will not get worse and will stay the same. How can they say that when they don't know what is the cause. But they said we all have thousands of genes, so it could be congenital, it is all guesswork. Everything comes back negative.
306455 tn?1288865671 The active ingredient in Suboxone, buprenorphine, has been used clinically for over 30 years. There are IV formulations in use in hospitals, and there is a skin patch called 'butrans' in the UK that is used for chronic pain from osteoarthritis. So understand that this is not a 'new substance'. It IS a bit new, though, to take it in such high concentrations as are found in Suboxone. For any substance, I follow the science-- anecdotes can cause a great deal of confusion.

Avatar n tn At the base of my neck/top of my spine there is a bony lump there that has not gone away and it causes a dull heavy sensation in my neck right where the spot is, so the middle of my neck. I do have poor posture that I am trying to work on and I do have overall back pain (both of my parents do as well). This lump is not symmetrical, if you look at it from the right and then the left it looks different.
Avatar n tn It has been suggested that cobalamin plays a role in the synthesis of cytokines and neurotrophic factors and that dysregulation of this process in cobalamin deficiency damages the white matter. SCD causes weakness and paresthesias of the distal lower extremities. As the disease progresses, weakness and spasticity of the limbs appear and postural sensation is lost, resulting in unsteadiness of gait.

748543 tn?1463449675 I went to yoga class for a few years and wore my splint at night off and on for several years, but eventually I stopped each. He did mention that I would have a risk of developing osteoarthritis later in life in my right jaw. Forward on to 2016 and I started to notice my neck and shoulders tightening. I do not know if there is an association but last summer I did fall off a boat and hit my head on a wood dock .....I ended up cracking the 2x4 where my head landed....
748543 tn?1463449675 What's more is that I find that dental malocclusion is frequently one of the principle causes of the TMD. The article went on commenting that MRI and CAT scans are among the biggest advances in diagnosis of TMD, that is just ludicrous. While those are valuable diagnostic tools they do not show what is the underlying cause of the misalignment. I frequently find that to be the malocclusion.
Avatar f tn many doctors are not aware that the disease exists and patients are often treated poorly, and never diagnosed . It is extremily painful, the disease in a majority of patients causes disability. It is slowly progressive . the type of disease I have can occur in non-obese patients, or patients that are slightly overweight can become obese. there is no cure or treatment for this disease. any advanced treatment are happening in sweden, and UK.
931217 tn?1283484935 Spayed females had an increased risk for urinary tract stones, urinary tract infections, and urinary tract tumor, but not other causes of FLUTD. Intact females had a decreased risk for most causes.[122] While most cases of FLUTD are treatable and not life-threatening, urinary tract obstruction in males is a very serious condition. This occurred in about 12% of cats with FLUTD symptoms, and the risk is higher in castrated males cats.
469720 tn?1388149949 Now you're talking! I tend to sgree that finances are a good part of the slow (if any) progress being made in preventing heart disease. Sort of like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. All the docs can come up with is "risk factors". Nothing meaningful as far as what really causes heart disease. About all these risk factors do is lay the blame on the patient for being sick. Fight the good fight !

Avatar n tn The doctors here don't take it very seriously and it wasn't until I was reffered to a visiting specialist, a Rhuematologist, (after having every test known to man and being told that nothing was wrong) that I suddenly told I had Fibromyalgia, mixed collagen vascular disease, osteoarthritis, and sjogrens. Needless to say, I was stunned...
Avatar n tn For the past few years I have been experiencing night-time numbness and tingling of my right hand (thumb, index and middle fingers) during the Fall and Winter months. This year it has been particularly bad with no relief for several hours each night and there is extension of a dull tight pain above and below the elbows and in the upper right arm and the tingling sensation may even extend into the right side of my back.
Avatar n tn Both are Congenital birth defects that involve the incomplete closure of the bones covering the spinal cord. With SBO, it states it causes NO pain, NO nerve involvement and can not be fixed. With TV (Bertolotti's Syndrome), it DOES cause pain, DOES cause nerve involvement and CAN be fixed (I will include links that I found). Since little is known about this defect, MOST doctors have never heard of it (as is the case with me, not a single doctor in my state has heard of it).
Avatar f tn But my right leg is a little bit shorter than the left leg, and the muscles in my right thigh are smaller and somewhat atrophied compared to the muscles in m left leg. My x-rays show some early osteoarthritis in my right hip, and my right hip is pretty deformed and flattened out on top. I struggle to remain active. I too enjoy working out - weight lifting, hiking, cycling, etc - but it can be pretty difficult to do on some days.

Avatar n tn The weather pressure changes affect the fibro, lupus, and migraines, and the allergies here me prone to infections which causes the lupus to flare up which makes the fibro flare up. We've thought about Tucson but I'm worried about the monsoons causing migaines. But I love heat. I see no reason for it to ever drop below 50 degrees :) I have a friend with FM who lived in northern Arizona and it did wonders for her. She's thinking of moving back.
220917 tn?1309788081 She has osteoarthritis. All the disks in her lumbar spine are herniated. She and I both have bad osteoarthritis, for some reason. We've both had the cervica; fusion surgery, and now she's having the lumbar surgery, when she's able. She just had a heart stent, so she has to wait to be off Plavix, a blood thinner. My ortho surgeon says I will need lumbar surgery at some point, too, but who knows when? So, I am happy to have "Steaksgiving" for my mom!
Avatar n tn I know you asked this question a while ago but it could have been dermatitis. I have contact dermatitis from paper and it causes red itchy bumps on the palms of my hands. I also lose my fingerprints and get itchy bumps on the tips and sides of my fingers. I use an emollient cream at night and throughout the day to protect my hands. Myabe this info is better late than never.
Avatar n tn On top of that, some of us consume caffeinated drinks, soda drinks so we lose lots of minerals daily. As we get older. we need to exercise each muscle just to feel fine and to defy gravity that causes sagging, muscular atrophy if not being active, wrinkling of the skin, etc.... Do yoga or go swimming to feel refresh, and whatever we do, try to breathe deeply and longer to condition our lungs to be flexible, and to get a lot more oxygen in each breath.
