Osteoarthritis back numbness

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis back numbness

Avatar f tn I have osteoarthritis in my back and hips. The physiotherapist has given me exercises to help with the pain. Best thing is to keep active, if you can. Hopefully the ortho will help, and a rheumatologist, like I have seen, will help you cope with the arthritis.

Avatar n tn I experience pain, especially in the 2 areas that lead to neck and headaches. What other areas of my body does this affect? I do on occasion experience numbness and tingling in both hands and fingers, but will stop when massaged. So, I am looking for other symptoms in my body resulting from the spurs touching nerves in both areas. Thank you. John.
Avatar n tn I am 33yo and have just been told I have osteoarthritis in my spine. I have had ct scans and mri scans. Both show calcification and osteoarthritis from my neck to my lumbar area. I frequently get numbness in my legs and hands, severe pain to the point where walking in unbearable. I can not work around the house for more than 15min a day and employment is at the moment out of the question because my back will spasm severly at any time.
Avatar n tn Finally after working 2 months with this the pain was to much, and was occompanied with partial numbness to the back of the right leg, *** to foot. The MRI came back: Mild dextroscoliosis of the lumbar spine is seen without acute fractures, Dislocations, lytic or blastic defections or congenital anomalies. The intervertebral disc spaces appear to be adequately maintained. There were no perivertebal soft tissue masses, calcifications or bone adnormalities. Mild facet hypertrophic changes.
Avatar n tn In November 2009, I was approved for full permanent disability, ironically not because of fibro, but because I also have severe osteoarthritis and back problems. These are not nearly as debilitating as fibro, so there's the government for you. I spent what waking hours I had online searching and found http://www.treatmentcenterforcfs.com/ and also a more friendly non-medical article. http://chronicfatigue.about.com/b/2009/11/03/chronic-fatigue-syndrome-dr-lerner-on-ampligen-xmrv.
5289415 tn?1391260841 Did you do anything or experience pain in your knee, leg or back before you noticed the numbness? If not taken care of it can become permanent and cause other problems.
531416 tn?1213149279 I have for the past 5 years had a hard time sleeping on my right side but now I am having numbness and tingling in both my arms and hands. My right side is worst with numbness, tingling and sometimes pain from my right shoulder blade down to my fingers. (very annoying) Also these symptoms run down my legs to my feet. Scale from 1:10 on pain w/numbness is about an 8 most of the time. When I sit my legs get numb sometimes. It all gets worst at night.
Avatar n tn This winter I began experiencing strange clicks and pains when I moved my neck and an X-ray showed changes consistent with osteoarthritis. I have always been prone to numbness when I cross my legs. I wonder if there is a circulatory problem or what other differentials need to be entertained before i agree to surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome.
Avatar f tn They are probably from nerve irritation in your back, possibly from osteoarthritis. I would recommend that you be seen by a neurologist to evaluate the nerves in your legs. With the symptoms also in your hands and tongue, you can't rule-out a brain problem. In that case, the neurologist would probably want to do an MRI of your brain and entire spine. That is my recommendation for you.

Avatar n tn I do not have any pain radiating down my leg, it is confined to buttocks numbness and numbness to my knees when sitting for any length of time. I am a little better in that I can sit about 5 minutes before the numbness sets in whereas previously it was numb the minute I sat down. I am 65 years old and work at Mass General Hosp. in Boston and being treated there. I have an appt. with a neurosurgeon next week but don't know what to think. Surgery would be my absolute last thing to think about.
Avatar m tn There's also numbness and tingling, some loss of sensation. Before the back pain there were also shooting pains (usually at night) to the base of the skill (just the skull, the bone itself). These have gone away now. There is a history of arthritis; both knees have been replaced. Taking Oxycodone (sp?) for it with mixed results. Sometimes it helps for the whole day and sometimes just for a few hours. It never fully takes the pain away. Also tylenol back pain.
Avatar n tn But i do feel very tired, i mean a real tired, include back pain/tired most of the time. Numbness on-off. Is that considered pain? The doctor set me on MRI. still havent done yet. And he said I might need the operation but depends on MRI. need opinion please. thank you.
Avatar m tn i have been having upper back and neck pain along with numbness in fingers and toes.
Avatar n tn I suffered from nighttime numbness in my left hand also. It went on for a very long time and eventually turned into a painful situation that woke me several times a night and also started effecting my arm. Like you, when i hanged my arm over the bed side it relieved. My dr. at the time thought it was a pinched nerve. He said that massages would help but that I needed a neruologist cuz he couldnt possibly begin to tell me which nerve it was.
Avatar m tn Back pain. Was diagnosed with osteoarthritis, my right hand started to go numb in just two fingers now it's my whole arm. Had back x rays showed pinched nerve on l5s1. The most painful part is I have to bend my spine to get relief I'm constantly bending backward to relive pressure. What's this from. I'm 24 male} I'm currently taking naproxen, flexril, lidocain patches, predistone (when needed for swelling). My father has spinal stenosis, mother has chromed , grandmother has lupus.
Avatar n tn i also have had long-term lower back pain from when i used to work out and injured it doing squats. my lower back pain is pretty continual. im pretty sure i do have carpal tunnel but that doesnt explain similar symptoms in my lower legs. lastly, i started taking magnesium and vitamin d supplements as i read that deficiencies in these vitamins can cause similar symptoms. anyone have any ideas? thanks!
387767 tn?1345875627 Hi, I am having a terrible time lately with low back pain, almost like in my buttocks and hips. Sometimes the pain goes down my legs also. I don't know how to tell if this is from fibro or if it's sciatica or some disc problem. I never had an MRI on my low back, just the cervical and thoracic (mid back). I have 2 herniated discs in my neck, but that doesn't even bother me as much as this low back/butt pain.
Avatar m tn For about 2 and a half years now, I have been having pain in my lower back and hio. My ortho sent me for an MRI and he said I had Spondylolisthesis. He treated it with Physical Therapy (which didn't work) and with Pain meds. He retired about a year and a half ago and I can't find someone who will treat me because its a "Chronic Condition. I was finally sent to a pain clinic. The Dr there wants me to have Facet injections and I am so afraid to try that.
Avatar n tn Two days ago, I began with pain in the back right side of my head, neck and mid-back pain. This lasted throughout the day and into the night. The next morning, I awoke with an intense right-sided headache (behind right eye) which continues now, but last night, I had shooting pains in my right leg and arm. This led to tingling, and my foot began burning with numbness from the knee down. The headache continues this morning, but the numbness and tingling have almost subsided.
Avatar f tn I'm experiencing tingling and numbness in my back between the shoulder blade and spine on my left side. I can't recall feeling it on the right side, but it's possible that it is, and I can't distinguish because the left side tingling is so prominent. It feels like it is in my muscle - it starts as a tingle and becomes numb/tingly several minutes later very often throughout the day. It began 4-5 days ago and seems to happen more frequently now. I'm a 26-year-old female.
4848471 tn?1372242352 Ok, so here's my problem. I cracked my neck back in '07 REALLY hard and the next day I couldn't move my left arm. I eventually got the usage of my arm back, but I retained some very mild "dead man's hand" numbness in both hands. I think I also had the numbness in my right hand although I could use it. About two years after that I had numbness in the bottom of my feet of the same type. I can still "feel" my feet but it's that dead man's hand feeling.
Avatar f tn More recently though, I have developed a lot of numbness and tingling in my arms and hands... Sometimes this extends to my legs and feet. It's often worse at night when I will wake up with stiff elbows or knees which seem to be locked in a bent position and I have to slowly straighten them out. I wake up a lot with numb arms which feel heavy and tingly. This is also beginning to happen during the day, even when I am not leaning on that arm or leg.
Avatar f tn I had a lumbar puncture 5 days ago. During the procedure, when she inserted the needle in for the second time to numb me, I felt a sharp pain shoot across my back all the way to my hip. Since then I have had really intense back pain everyday. My back has "gone out" a few times, and my Mom has found me crying in my bed unable to move. The pain seems to be the worst in the morning. It also hurts if I sit up straight for too long. Could I have a pinched nerve or something?
Avatar n tn The strange thing is when it does get worse the pain always radiates up my back not down. In 10 years I have had 2 MRIs on my lower back and they always find nothing. I am a very active person stretching everyday (because of my lower back) and using an elliptical machine for 30min/ 3 times a week for 6 yrs around 480 calories each time. I also walk the dog for an hour each weekday and stretch during this walk.
974371 tn?1424656729 A few months ago, I started having low back and left hip pain that persisted. My dictor finally ordered an x-ray then an a MRI as a month of PT was no help at all. Tests dud show degeneration so he said it is age related, I am just 64. Different PT and they have been basically doing heat and ultrasound, no improvement and I now have pain across lower back, over both hips and a burning pain on the right side of my mid back. I am also going for acupuncture but nothing is helping.
Avatar n tn I get so little sleep, often I cat nap sitting up. Sometimes my head goes off to the right side. Last yr I noticed pressure/numbness upon waking up like this. It would last for a few days and go away, but now it does not go away at all. Have a constant numbness/pressure top of scalp, area inc/dec slightly day to day. Ear/eye pressure & difficulty moving eyes especially up and to sides.
